- These are handy as they are like needle nose with a wider surface like linesman's pliers have but can get into tight spaces. These seem reasonable well made and finished but looking a few on the shelf the grinding on the jaws does vary from set to set.
I rarely check in.. but your vids & descriptions have prompted me to purchase numerous tools over the years, many seemingly obscure items I’d never heard of. You are a teacher ..and whenever I use these tools, I think of & thank you. Bought two of these, one for work bag, other for work bench. ..and, I find myself compelled (like now) to re-watch your excellent presentations 🙂
I would consider these "duckbills". I have SO, Channel Lock, and a few Chinese miniature ones I cannot rember who made them. Thanks for this review, I use these type tools everyday. The long SO version was pricy but my favorite by far, 10 years of almost daily use, no issues at all.
Hello Catus ole boy!!! i greatly enjoyed your review as usual.
I really like the Doyle line, I have several of there pliers including these. I'm also under the impression that the Doyle supplier is the same supplier greenlee uses for their tools. If you compare greenlee long nose, linesman, side cutters and crimpers to the Doyle ones, they are identical except for the grips and branding. I also believe gear wrench and other name brands use the same supplier as whoever makes the Doyles. They are a great value in my opinion.
They look similar to the Tekton pliers, too.
@@sfx1999 a lot of tekton tools and harbor freight tools are the same.
I'm gonna grab these next time they do a 30% off on items under $20
theyre doing it this weekend. just picked them up. it was like 14$
@@kojak5638 nice, I got them awhile ago, they were $10.50 with 30% off, the economy is terrible and inflation is rampant
Nows your chance of you're ITC
I buy the Channellock versions, it's worth the extra money to keep them in business here. But not a bad tool if you're struggling to pay the bills.
Channellock #718 btw
I'm having hard time finding #718 channellock so I purchase the Stanley proto duckbill pliers
Duckbills are my favorite pliers. I have USA craftsman versions that I bought 4 sets of. I also own a knipex set. I use them in place of slip joints which I can't stand because the slip joint makes the pliers feel loose.
I have a mix of Knipex and Doyle. I'm not disappointed when I have to use the Doyles.
I went in two different times looking for these! On the other hand have you seen Lowe’s are starting to carry a lot of Knipex in stores now
very useful design pliers, knipex same style is close to 40bucks .
Doyle pliers are pretty good product & price, throw in a coupon and plenty on display so can self QC an extra nice pair and they a fine buy .
Cool, thanks
Just went to Harbor freight today and saw the Doyle section with the tags up for that one and the Electrician’s multipurpose pliers.. no stock yet but they had one flush cut plier in stock..
Got these a couple weeks ago, said was in stock on website, but not on shelves. Asked worker as I was leaving and he found 2 pairs left in the back. They are a great little set of pliers. Similar to the snap-on version..
many of these higher end pliers have that gap near the end to prevent pinching your wires too hard
I'll stay with my US made Channellock 718s, years of flawless service.
Doyle makes fantastic tools.
Just ordered the 718
A few weeks ago these pliers were $8.99. HF then hiked the price .
Today it's at $13.99.
They're okay
👍
I would just take them to the belt sander and smooth them down a bit
Thanks for the info and detailed review, that sets you apart from the others,,, these are on my to get list...BTW CATUS show us your face, we want to see your face lololol.. really..
Irwin had a model which was made in India and it was decent quality compared to Chinese stuff
Harbor Freight should picked three brands, good, better and best and used them on all their tools. It just confusing. It would have been great to use one battery platform too. You buy a high end drill with two batteries and charger, now if you want a cheap tool, you have to buy battery and a charger again. That cheap tool is now expensive.
