I also have a Winfield Manufacturing made M-65 from 1981, in mint condition. I live in Hungary, Middle-East Europe, you can imagine, how rare it is toward us a jacket like that. I only wear it on red-letter days! 😅 Believe me: If you need a new M-65, with the original quality, buy the Helikon! 😉

If I need a new one with original quality I'll get an American made Golden MFG, they're made to proper GOVT spec because they were one of the original suppliers who held a contract till the m65 went out of service in '09.
Honestly, i have the Helikon tex M65 into both black & olive green since years, also the M65 "covert" in black since Fall 2022. I must say, for the asking price, this jacket doesn't fit the bill, with the M65 name. Yes, it's light. It's kinda nice. But for such a light, thin material...shouldn't cost more than max. 79 EUR. It's a light jacket for fall & spring, i would say. The licensed M65 Helikon is worlds better than this new "covert" jacket. PS: What sucks most are the fat, big knobs. It takes a time, to open & close them all. Would have prefered a brass zipper, instead of silly, big plastic knobs, i do mean - only a zipper, not these extra knobs. Don't get me wrong - i like my M65 field jacket - but this covert "M65" is more a fashion item, into every way.

You're right, but it's also not marketed as an authentic repro of a US M65. It's a Polish company's take on a "Covert" M-65 style jacket. If you want a traditional M65, there are plenty out there.

it has very little to do with m65 jacket. from the material (cheap poliester cotton blend instead of nyco), to the finish touches (what kinda moron though that the canadian button would be an improvement over velcro fastening on the neck or sleeves?).
@@DarkFire515 it wasn't an issue in original jackets, it's not an issue with proper army clothing. Yet lack of ability to set it in the way you like is a real issue. Add to that the lack of bi swing sleeves and you can recognise that this jacket has nothing in common with M65.
@@simongrushka983 Absolutely , the only thing this has in common with an m65 is the stow away hood. Theres no gusset layer inside, no ratcheting brass zipper, no liner, no fold away cuff flaps, doesn't have the sturdy brass button snaps, or a waist draw string that I could see. I've got the original m65 my dad was issued in BT at FT Bliss Texas in 1978, as well as the one in woodland camo he was issued around 1986. I wear the woodland m65 at work in the winter, and the original needs some of the velcro sewn back on but the material is still holding up perfectly.

Nothing beats the nyco material Helikon Tex M-65 jacket. Someone said, it is "museum grade" stuff. I love mine for about four years now!
