Welcome to the church. When you get a chance go back to the beginning of these videos New Testament, then Book of Mormon then last year was Doctrine & Covenants. Life changing explanations, the words they describe the detail of it all is incredible.
Almost two months ago I fractured my spine after tubing on a snow hill here in Colorado. It’s been a rough few weeks of healing, dealing with pain, and persevering. I’m so glad to have watched this lesson today. The messages comforted my heart and reminded me once again how Heavenly Father has been with me throughout my life but most all, moments after the accident and since. Thank you for sharing your testimonies. Thank you. 💕
Wishing you well on your road of recovery 🙏❤. I have experience with horrible fractures, definitely the 'pit' of my life......Be patient with yourself and keep connecting up to Heavenly Father and know that Jesus and angels surrounds you.
@@emaartamor thank you for sharing your encouragement. We’re all in this together, this life is something else. Prayers of much love and joy be with you. 🌷🌷🌷
Hi Taylor and Tyler, thanks again for your wonderful lesson. Loved “you’ll never walk alone”….this is the anthem of the Liverpool football club in the UK. They sing it at every game. God bless from Wales🏴🏴🏴🏴
I was fasting today with many things on my mind. At the end of your video Tyler, you said the song you’ll never walk alone came to your mind and you shared the words with us. That song is a special song that God has sent to me several times when I was asked to go through really hard things and take a huge leap of faith. So while fasting today and watching your video, I was humbled with gratitude and wondered if possibly the inspiration you received to share that song may have been just for me. Thank you for listening to the spirit.
As the youngest sibling in my family I have often felt very connected to Joseph. I’m no where near as righteous. I feel like this story also shows us all that we need to continue to prove ourselves and make the best out of every situation we are in despite the difficulties we will face. By doing so in faith and righteousness we will be rewarded.
When Tyler talks about desiring "the spirit of Joseph"( how "the Lord was with Joseph" with anything he set out to to do & it prospered), reminds me of something I just read about Joseph Smith. Brother Jesse W Crosby who was a close neighbor to the Prophet in Navoo said about him, "The prophet had a great ability as a financier, and if his enemies had left him alone he would have become one of the wealthiest men in America. Everything his hand touched seem to prosper. His Fields were always in good condition and yielded well. When people came to see him (and he had many visitors) their teams were fed the best of hay and his barn was full. No other Orchard had as fine fruit has his had. If an inferior cow was shoved upon him, it would be but a short time before she became a first-class milker. Many men sought his advice when in financial difficulty, and none fail to profit by it if they followed the council the prophet gave. " (Remembering Joseph, Deseret Book pg 41)
Thank you for teaching me to look for ways that the Old Testament points me to Christ. I am enjoying the Old Testament like I never have before. I also loved the reference to the song “You’ll never walk alone” so beautiful!
Thank you for these insights. These are interesting themes and shadow or types. Who would argue that this story is not of value today after looking at all the symbolisms, types, and shadows? Your lesson has opened up significant points to the testimony of Jesus Christ embedded within the story of Joseph. Thank you.
Thank you so much to both of you, who shared the gospel thru this channel. I've learned so much and give more knowledge about the mysteries of the gospel. Continue share thy blessings and God will bless you and your family. We love you both.
Thank you so much for the introduction about Joseph and different clothing he had. I never thought of this way. It blew me away. You both are amazing teachers. I love the lyrics of a song and I'll going to listen to it after this. The words are similar to Liverpool football song in UK. "Hope" is something we all need right now especially the refugees from Ukraine. Thank you. 💕
Thank you for these videos. I have enjoyed learning from them since sometime in February and it is like being back in Brother Griffin’s institute class again. Thank you for sharing what you are inspired to share as you always did then. Thank you to both of you for your time and preparation and examples.
Thank you Brother Griffin for the wonderful opening! It was valuable to learn that the story of Joseph is extremely symbolic. While reading the biblical accounts of his life, we can put on many different metaphorical lenses. While each of those lenses are instructive, perhaps the most compelling one gives us a comparative view of the life of Jesus Christ. This makes Joseph one of the most powerful types of Christ found anywhere in the scriptures.
Here is a nother monitor on his life .if you can take anything bad that happens to you and make good out of it you are becoming more Christ like. Thanks guys great expanding in understanding...I love it thanks .
I really enjoy learning from these well thought out, instructive videos which elaborate on the scriptures! I would encourage Tyler to be more proactive in taking the lead in the discussions as well. It is good to bounce off ideas with one another.
38 is beautiful too because it gives us that extra tie in to Christ and where he comes from and how a miraculous birth can give second chances and redeem the line of Judah:)
Thank you for your lesson, it was beautiful. Your last song of Rogers and Hammerstein made me think about Joseph because I think he walked with his head high as a son of God and that's another reason why the Pharaoh trusted him. Pharaoh saw God in his stature and in the way he walked as a son of God.
Great insights - thank you again for making these videos. I listen to them because they do add to my scripture study. It's rather like sitting in a Gospel Doctrine class and receiving perspectives from others who have read the same material but who have different insights. I do think sometimes it's possible to project a bit too much when reading the scriptures. The example of Potiphar only putting Joseph in prison because he felt pressure to do so doesn't fit with how I read it. When he cast Joseph into prison, it seems he did so because "his wrath was kindled (Gen 39:19)." He was upset because he believed his wife's account. He thought Joseph had betrayed him after having treated him so well.
One thing that I've thought about Joesph going to prison, is with Potopher being Captain of the guard, he would also oversee the prison. While he was unable to keep Joseph in his house, he sent him to work in the prison
At your 32 minute in this discussion,Tyler mentions Reuben losing the birthright because of adultery with one of his father’s concubines, and then brothers 2,3 and 4 not being worthy because of the many revenge killings. But, it is my understanding that after Reuben, the first son of the first wife loses the birthright that the birthright passes to the First son of the second wife, Rachel. Therefore, it would pass to Joseph. The concubines sons would be passed over to the second wife’s first son. Does anyone know for sure how this worked anciently? I would be interested to make sure I have it correct. I believe it was taught to us in Sunday school several years ago.
Thank you so much for your lessons!! It helps me so much with my gospel doctrine class. I had a question, who were the Ishmaeelites? In the revised KJ bible it says they were the Ishmaelites and that it was a misspelling? Not sure so if your able to help me with that, that would be great. Thanks.
I love watching you guys but I have a question. I have read chapter 37 multiple times and I come out with something different. I do not come up with Joseph Brothers selling him. I read it that the brothers go to get the Ishmeelites to sell him, but the Midianites find him instead and they are the ones that sell them to the Ishmeelites. When Ruben goes to get him he's gone. Can you help me understand what I'm missing I know the brothers wanted to sell him but they didn't get the chance. LR
I have questions about this ,too. Reuben is the one that stopped the brothers from killing Joseph. Tyler does mention that the Ishmeelites are Midianites and not Ismaelites (Abraham’s son’s progeny). But, did the other brothers sell Joseph when Reuben was not around? Sounds like Reuben wanted to leave him in the pit while Judah wanted to sell him to the Ishmeelites. Confusing.
While listening to this, I also notice that Potiphar's wife is somehow a similitude of Satan while Jesus was fasting 😂 Jesus resist temptation as how Joseph resist the temptation and then afterwards, He was crucified 🥰 Just my opinion.
I thought the book of Judas was most interesting. It takes the view that Jesus ordered Judas to betray him publicly. Sometimes obeying Jesus Christ is very hard to do.
People who are descendants of natives of the Americas believe that they are the literal biological preserved remnant of Joseph. Alma 46:23-24,27. Which is why their textile always use many colors. 😊
I'm a new member of the Church, this channel is great, again thank you 😊
Congratulations and welcome!

To me it seems more reasonable that Potiphar would have just killed him. I like Tyler's interpretation.

Great lesson! I think it would have been even better had you mentioned Joseph’s prophecy about Joseph Smith and the Restoration in 2 Nephi 3

I read it the same way - it wasn't his brothers who sold him.
I see that the diagram in the second section can also be applied to Adam and Eve.
While listening to this, I also notice that Potiphar's wife is somehow a similitude of Satan while Jesus was fasting 😂 Jesus resist temptation as how Joseph resist the temptation and then afterwards, He was crucified 🥰 Just my opinion.
Excuse my previous comment...the twin birth was from Judah and Tamar Genesis 25
Someone said to that because it was 20 instead of 30 for Joseph that was an indicator he was young.. maybe 17?:)
Is that right?
I thought the book of Judas was most interesting. It takes the view that Jesus ordered Judas to betray him publicly. Sometimes obeying Jesus Christ is very hard to do.
