If you have a problem getting sticks, then make stone stuff. I have no handsaw and had to chop down tons of trees in order to get enough stick, I realized there were stone structures, so I looked at some guides and noticed that almost everything stone requires only 1 board. So I was super stoked and managed to upgrade my base by a ton. Make sure you have a pickaxe, a good deal of inventory weight remaining, and a bunch of boulders nearby, I hope this little tip helped.

Me and my friends took over burywood, Great place, we got food, water, gas and weapons. Meds are the only thing we lack. Im making a garage right now, my friend is busy getting wood and stuff :P
I recommend for people to build their base next to the Farm because it's next to a well and a fuel station and a town with the botist store which is where you can get crops ;)

And honestly even though im a experienced player this game is hard i mean zombies can see you from 5 miles away but anyway its also hard to get melee weapons/guns
Depends on where you look, most towns have melee weapons also backpacks but they are usually overrun also if you go to the bridge theres some medical stuff and military things also theres a military base but it is also overran
U gotta fight ur way in the military base, I used a handgun and fought my way in then when I'm out of ammo I lead the zombies around and use my meleee then loot the base and keep moving

I've set up an uber awesome base at Wiltshire Farm! A couple humvees, some sports cars, and some extra truck. 3 individual houses! Each has 2 floors, a front yard, and a backyard. UBER MEGA COOL!
I couldn't find bolts for a door but I found a shutter so I use that instead, I have to crouch to get in my house >.< Thanks for the tutorial, so helpful!

entak i dont really like the multiple floors thing so im trying to line up multiple foundations but they keep being unaligned and it looks terrible. how do i build a large 1 floor base with multiple foundations thats a single, huge room?

Instead of making multiple foundations, you can attach platforms to foundations on the sides to horizontally expanding your house
