  • In this video I show the processing workflow I used to process this image of the Deerlick group. The following galaxies are in this shot:
    NGC 7331
    NGC 7335
    NGC 7337
    NGC 7440
    NGC 7336
    and more!
I collected all the data from my backyard. My night skies are a bortle 5.

Thank you James for putting this video together. I prefer your second version. I, too, often process my images multiple times. In fact, I will begin processing even before I have gathered all of my data just so that I can begin experimenting and thinking about which techniques will work best with that particular object. Wonderful final result!

Thanks David! I too will process the images while still collecting data. Its very useful.

I was capturing the same target, but I didn't think I can do something nice from it, so I stopped. Now I see it's possible! Thanks for the motivation. Beautiful image.

Beautiful image. Definitely liking the second run more - the core looks much more natural and although brighter, you can see more dust lane detail immediately near the core i think.

Beautiful image James! I agree with you about the first run, the second is definitely better, I like the core, great job👍I don’t have the reach with my little scope, but nice target! Clear skies!

Thanks Simon! Your Esprit 120 at its native F7 should do a pretty good job on medium sized galaxies like this one.

@@DSOImager Maybe I’ll give it a go! Although it’s out of action at present! I’ve just taken off the ASIAIR and put the MeleQ3 on, will now be using Nina, but not had time to learn how to use it yet🤣 So currently using the AskarFRA400!

Cracking image James. I've used the Adam Block starless DBE for a while now, certainly works far better than the regular DBE workflow. This target is definitely going on my todo list, I have finally bit the bullet and ordered a 12" RC for doing galaxy work. Capturing 20+ hours of data with our Scottish weather is going to take an eternity though!

A 12" RC? Nice! I will be very interested in hearing about your user experience once you've had some time with it. :)

Nice job James Ive currently got the 533MC on the C925. Interesting processing method looked to work well.

Thanks Ollie. Your setup should do well on galaxies. :)
