starting from 4:29, the raw engine noise abruptly transitioning to the screaming exhaust note as the mercedes flew by was absolutely beautiful. Those judd engines are truly something else
Rotary = beautiful buzz box! Merc = Sped up but insane! Alfa = Amazing sounding V8 AE86 = Love that Driftworks monster V8! Kawasaki = Motorbike ripper!! BMW Group 5 = Absolutely stunning and stole my heart!! Starlet = Fantastic little hatch which shreds! All amazing cars and such a good selection! Kudos!
Im gonna dim the lights, run the bucket water, pour a lil bubbly, pop open a bottle of champagne, set the mood with this soundtrack.....and wash my insanely stock nissan leaf.
A SYMPHONY. this gentleman even timestamped the different runs/cars for us... love this channel. Happy New Year to everybody. drive safe and give this video a 'like' .
We were building a Nissan SR20 with a destroked SR16 crank for 1.4L to fit class rules. Figured around 12-12.5k rpm. But it went the way of most projects and my heart went with it.
That Opel Cadett is such a classic little sleeper - they were sold as Holden Gemini's here in AU, and we even had a Panel Van version for the young tradies . . who quickly discovered most of the hop-up parts fitted them as well.
Wow!! Absolutely stunning video! The Mercedes SLK340 Judd,, Ohh Myyyy GAWD! Can you possibley imagine piloting that beast! Not in a million years could I EVER!! Thank you HCM for putting this video together and sharing it with us. Amazing,, absolutely amazing!
What if they went full DTM and got like an 2 liter v6 n/a hybrid that is like 500hp at 15000 rpm + 200hp of hybrid? Would be an good comeback to the "naturally aspirated".
I had a '74 2002 I built up in 1986, with similar box-flare fenders. Full Alpina suspension, big brakes, but the engine tech available back then limited me to about 170bhp, so while it cornered just about as flat, it was obviously quite slow compared to this monster. It was fun to beat up on Pontiac Fieros though!
Best video I have seen this year, and will be really difficult to beat that later this year! That Rx7 and that JUDD V8 are from another world!! Where are all those events! I really have to visit a couple of these next summer! 😍😍
Fantastic, by far my favourite was the BMW 2002, extremely closely followed by the Opel Kadett. Alpine A110 was next...although I initially felt umbrage at a classic race car powered by a Kawasaki engine it was a joy to watch! The Toyota Corolla has no place being at a hillclimb event, leave the burn outs and drifting for McDonald's car parks! The Fiat X19 is always a good watch, especially as I have personal memories of my PE instructor at school Ms McGraw who was stunning to look at and had a body like Bo Derek, and she drove a gold coloured X19. But special mention must go to the engineering of a Lotus Elise "Double Hayabusa" V8....it's like Frankenstein and Dracula collaborated to build a car...Dracula obviously doing the nightshift! 🧛♂️
Wowza! Runoff area: Ancient rocks, Big trees, Steel guard rails. Not much room for "spin outs"! Very exciting type of racing. I watch the drivers going up Pike's Peak, but this is no less impressive. "Mr. Scott! Mr. Mr. Sulu! Warp speed!" "Aye aye, captain!"
Top ten made easy for me, they're all in!, but the best has to be the Judd engine for me, can't decide for SLK430 or 4C however, the first has that formula 1 sound of the past, the 4C that angry lift off popping.
I mean 3 rotor is cool but you'd hear people talking about it often, but the other 4 cylinders are wayyy to underrated and you don't listen to it that often so honestly it sounds amazing
What´s your Favourite NA Monster? Time Stamps for each one:

HillClimb Monsters 340 Judd hands down 👌🤘👌
Nothing beats the beautiful sound of that Judd.

Merc footage is not sped up bro.
You know its going to be a good time when you kick off with a peripheral port rotary
It doesn´t get much worse from there on... ;)
That rx7 na?
@@chappy2121 did you read the title of the video bro?
Yeah and at the end of it’s run stupid commercials what an anti climax! Worse possible moment for that crap!
designed for airoplanes,,not racing.. piston rules..
Genuinely can't choose a 'best' out of those, but the best moment is when the A110 has a little hop. It's like a spider scuttling off!
Well, it is the lightest Monster of the bunch for sure ;)
@@HillClimbMonsters Certainly! There's probably heavier slot cars than that thing. And that was starting from a light base anyway...
That car literally jumped all four wheels off the ground. That’s damn amazing.
Was gonna say the same thing. Along with the wider stance, it looks hard as nails.
The Mercedes Bensz SLK340 takes the day for me.
Yeah but I felt that the alphine A110 dude hat its car so well under control it looks hella fun driving this one
Def my favourite, doesn’t get much better I don’t think
It does get better, I just watched it again lol
True :) What a monster
That Benz was savage asf it was literally attacking that track
Im gonna dim the lights, run the bucket water, pour a lil bubbly, pop open a bottle of champagne, set the mood with this soundtrack.....and wash my insanely stock nissan leaf.
Take the volume all the way up for maximum effect ;)
Lol!
hahahahahaha Epic comment !!!!
@Not Hitler baby oil? A real petrolhead uses Castrol Edge oil at least... 😏
@@georgeisaak5321 those hillclimb NA cars remind me a lot to Colin McRae DiRT 1 days.
Turbos and super chargers are great but I love the sound of pure determination that a well built NA has!
The way that A110 with the bike engine went through the chicane was just incredible.
A SYMPHONY. this gentleman even timestamped the different runs/cars for us... love this channel. Happy New Year to everybody. drive safe and give this video a 'like' .
A video like this has to be enjoyed in the best manner possible for each subscriber. We just do our best ;) Happy New Year
I typically dislike a 4 cylinder exhaust note. I guess I’ve been listening to them at the wrong RPM. 10k sounds amazing.
Well, there are 4 examples on the video. None of them seem to be missing anything when it comes to intensity and volume at the very least ;)
Most engines sound insane at 10ktho lol
3 cylinder at 13,500 sounds pretty amazing also
We were building a Nissan SR20 with a destroked SR16 crank for 1.4L to fit class rules. Figured around 12-12.5k rpm. But it went the way of most projects and my heart went with it.
@Maximo Moline The E30 M3 sounded sooooo sweet back in the day.
In love with the alpine and alfa, but for style points... The Toyota has my respect that's some great driving skills
The alpine takes the cake as the thiccest boy though
BMW 2002
Best intake sound
Woooow!! MONSTER SOUND RX7 😨😍
Jeah but this Kind of hillclimb is not the best........ its Good for gokarts but not for hillclimb monsters
Nico Quint I mean it’s still 520 horsepower so even if it’s not the best choice it’s gonna be fast regardless
Oh no, it sounds shitty.
The AE86 v8... at 8:01 Oh my... That's an amazing sound. You can almost smell the power through your surround set at home!
The Mercedes is insane.
My Favourite NA Monster is................... ALL of them, but especially the Corolla V8 is Mindblowing BadAss !!! Thank You for this TOP footage !
That x1/9 was tearing those back roads up impressive driving
The Alpine A110. Thats the kinda car you look at, you just know, thats what driving SHOULD feel like. Man
That Opel Cadett is such a classic little sleeper - they were sold as Holden Gemini's here in AU, and we even had a Panel Van version for the young tradies . . who quickly discovered most of the hop-up parts fitted them as well.
This RX7 has the devil breathing! Exhaust note is insane 🔥
I love the way the LSx Toyota fogged em in at the starting line before going on his run!!
The kind of courses you dream about. Challenging and equally stunning.
Judd V8s always make me giggle
The judd Mercedes is just simply on another level.
See that lotus Elise run through the gears by itself was quite a sight to see
damn bro this NA sound so much better than f1 hybrid haha
That´s for damn sure !!
@@HillClimbMonstersA TT 2.0L inline-6 hybrid would be an improvement.

@Not Hitler This comment didn't age well...
👍👌👏 Simply fantastic! This is causing goosebumps, grinning from ear to ear, shivers down my spine and even tears of joy.
Almost any of these cars are amazing but I was specially impressed with the AE 86, crazy build!
That Alpine A110 is as lively as hell. Nice driving
JUDD IS JUDD ...ITS LIKE THE SOUND OF HEAVEN
Love that JUDD . MATRA Too 👍
that Mercedes SLK340 Judd looks and sounds awesome, the handling omg
Those Judd engines are just heaven 🤤😃
AE86 and Kadett so much powa, revs and still with crossplane cranksfafts!
Rafał Podkówka insane!
The Bimmer made my heart skip a beat.

For those who are passionate about motorsport the sound of the engine is a romantic song
Friggin' AE86 boys, always gotta drift.
What a delightful spot for spectators and drivers
Mario Minichberger konnte ich letztes Jahr in Mickhausen mit seinem BMW 2002 sehen, wirklich eine wahnsinns Maschine.
The Rear camera was a PLUS!! Good JOB!!
OMG!!! O Dios mio!!... con lo q aceleran y como entran a las curvas todos son creyentes!! Amazing! Cheers!!
That 2002 sounds insane
That SLK and Alfa took my heart ❤️!
That rx7 was amazing to watch just on my laptop - it must have been phenomenal live....superb
Great Video-Thank you-best sounding hillclimb monster = 134 Judd from Georg Plasa R.I.P. 🙏🏽👍🏽
That Starlet is bonkers :)

So many configurations over the years and NA setup is still the best performing all around.

Starlet, 2002, and X19 are my favorites! And the RX7 ofcourse, that sound!
Alpine-Kawasaki, now there is a true individualist!
86 was a beast the GoPro view up front amazing.

Thanks for the compliments Dédé ;) Keep an eye on this space as there´s more goodies coming soon...
Hats off to the two big thumping crossplane crank v8s for even making this list.

It give itself a weight reduction every run, 2 kg lighter every run. Lol
Bmw 2002 for the win, nice video 👍
Very impressive, NA motors. Great video footage and sound that should be celebrated. ICE Forever...........;)
Those cars are EPIC.
A stout little v8 in a Lotus Elise what a magnificent idea.
Mechanic :- how wide do you want the body kit
Driver :- yes
That AE86 knows that spinning at the start gives you better time ;)
That 2002 is just mesmerising
NA tuning is my cup of tea! Love the turbo’s compressors also but nothing beats a NA engine revving over 10.000rpm!!!
A powerful NA engine impressed me more than a powerful turbo engine
Nothing like a naturally aspired engines that's running over 10000 rpm!
Super SLK win but Alfa 4C is great too!
And finger up on that angry Opel Cadet:)
Next:2019 Turbo Edition?
Maybe...
Да, RX-7 это уникальная машина конечно🤔👍
Ça fait du bien d'entendre de vrais moteurs de nos jours !!
Great list! Another fantastic NA beast was Georg Plasa’s BMW 134 w/Judd V8

I want that slk. What the hell man. So fast I almost had a heart attack watching him go!
With the Lotus V8 I was completely focused on the ghost changing gears for the driver and that’s all I remember of it. 😂👌
America needs a Bit more of This 💥💥🇺🇸🏁
Holy... man, hearing that JUDD V8 powered SLK and 4C really makes me wish there was a raceseries of mixed touringcars but all powered by that engine.
Its the lines of the A110 that really gets me
That Mercedes SLK 3.4 is the sauce.
SLK and Fiat looked intense to drive! Sounded amazing too
Well, they both are super successful cars, having the SLK won the Swiss Championship and the X1/9 the Italian Championship in the past.
The video being sped up to make the cars look faster is reminiscent of a cheezy 80's action film
