2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro | When Dinosaurs Roamed The Earth?

- Toyota's 4Runner has been unchanged for long enough that the retro vibe seems to be attracting more and more shoppers. While other SUVs have become more and more on-road focused with every generation it's almost refreshing to see an option in America that remains steadfastly off-road oriented.

Eek! The thumbnail hate!? Here's the deal: it was 99 degrees and my brain was fried. I tend to get silly after 8 hours filming cars in the heat...
Don't ever listen to the haters Alex! You are awesome!
We love you Alex. I loved the thumbnail.
No worries Alex.
Hogh308 Alex needs a fan group lol 😊
Toyota just keeps adding the greatest color combos.
My fav is Voodoo, but the military colors are also awesome. Also, the names are awesomely simple yet fitting for the 4x4/truck range... "Calvary", "Voodoo", "Quicksand", "Concrete", "Army", "Cement"... Whoever's in charge of the paint department is doing things right.
Hambone Calvary or cavalry?
@@afcgeo882 Whoops, totally my mistake. Still, "Cavalry" is a great name.
That was the main reason I just bought my army green instead of a limited
I have a 2016 Dinosaur. 28 months and 85K miles later, there have been no issues. My beef is that there is really only one vehicle here in (North) America that the 4Runner can be compared to: the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. And even those two don't directly compare when break down both vehicles. The 4Runner is a legitimate mid-size SUV. The crawl control works really well when used in the RIGHT situations. People want the 4Runner to be more and more refined. Makes no sense to me ha.
The Toyota 4runner has a lot more pros then Cons , this is why it's my main vehicle
@Ty Ty cool...?
Hey Alex, I am on my 4th Runner. I think the best all around 4Runner for someone that lives in an area that may require the need for AWD/4WD for winter driving and wants to do a bit of light off roading would be the Limited. The AWD is very capable in the snow and you don’t have to mess with speed and terrain limitations of the 4WD systems and shifting in and out of them.
I think some people think they need 4WD in snowy areas but they’re much better off with an AWD system that does the thinking for you plus the on road manners and handling with the Limiteds XREAS suspension is not talked about much either.
I know it’s an old platform but I’ve never had and an issue with any of mine and the resale is outstanding and can’t be beat. I’ve been holding onto my 16 LTD, waiting for a real update on the 4Runner. I would love to see you do a on and off road review on the Limited 4Runner. I have never seen you do one, I know the TRD Pro is the cool new toy but that’s the smallest sales segment of the 4Runner. Thanks for the great content!!
Thanks for sharing your ownership experience with the rest of us. I would be curious as to why one picks a 4Runner Limited over a Lexus GX. Since you mentioned resale, is it just my imagination or does the 4Runner hold value far better than the GX?
Right Lane Hog I like the looks of the current GX but I've always liked the looks of the 4Runner more especially previous generations. The 4.0L is more reliable and doesn't give up much in power to the GX’s 4.6L either and keep in mind the GX is 450-750lbs heavier depending on how its equipped. The hardened steel chain, with no maintenance needs, drives the camshafts in the 4Runner’s engine. A rubber cam drive belt that needs periodic replacement drives the GX460’s camshafts. If the GX460’s belt breaks, the engine could be severely damaged when the pistons hit the opened valves.
The 4Runner will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the 4Runner will retain 64.99% to 80.19% of its original price after five years, while the GX460 only retains 50.63% to 53.31%.
IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Toyota 4Runner will be $20710 to $20804 less than for the Lexus GX460. I wouldn't kick the GX out of bed but the 4Runner is just a better bang for your buck and has a longer list of pros.
@@jlg0077 One small correction to your summary may be in order. The GX 470 had a timing belt but the 460 has a timing chain.
@@jlg0077
Thanks for your summary. I learned something
TRD Off Road Premium is the sweet spot. I will be buying mine in the Spring.
I agree. Though I will be getting the regular TRD Off Road, I feel, unless you really want this in Green, you would save a lot by getting the cheaper TRD Off Road Premium.
I was thinking the same thing! Would you consider holding out for the 2021 redesign? I'm on the fence. I fear first year re-designs and worried that expensive hybrids and 4.7L would overshadow us simple truck lovers. The 5.7L is a beast though!
@@soapbox187 I don't think the redesign will be until 2022. I'll give them a two years to iron out the kinks and get one in 2024 if they add enough improvements to make it worth it. I'd love to a smaller displacement turbo and a better transmission, but I'd also like to see a full range dynamic radar cruise control instead of this new one which is just 25-110.
Yes the Pro trim is a 10k option here in Canada. Not worth it. The Off Road trim gives you the same capabilities as the Pro and I think it's only a 2k option.
@@PartyUpLive the green is the main reason I bought mine.
I simply adore this vehicle. It is a Mini-Tank.
My wife and I have no need for one though since the kids are grown up and moved out.
My 2012 4x4 Tacoma is our winter driving vehicle, (And the other 3 season as well...)
However, the Service Director at my dealership gave me one as a loaner a year or so ago and that was fun.
It was also in the dead of winter too. Nothing got in my way on the fairly deep snow throughout the city.
Now it is a gas hog but I did not care while I had this vehicle.
As for the 'Tech Stuff' I did not care that it was NOT the latest and greatest.
The Sat-Radio worked fine while I played the 'Classic Vinyl' channel.
I can see why people keep these for years and years.
I think they keep them so long simply because they are built to last a very long time.
4Runner & land cruiser are by far the most reliable vehicle in the planet.
I tend to keep my vehicles "forever" and that is a big reason why I am looking at the 4runner.
Plus, I like it's old school look and simplicity.

I just got a 2019 TRD Pro and everyone at my mall crawler group is so happy for me
Man, I'd love to join a mall crawler group and have mall meetups and stuff. Just haven't gotten my hands on a 4runner yet
@@SylentONE goodluck buddy! The wife is happy with our group lol. It's just our show trucks/suv's. We got jeep users in our group too.
And dinosaurs ruled the earth for MILLIONS of years.
Your review of the 2014 refresh was the first video of yours that I watched... I bought a nearly identical 4Runner to the one you tested. I have been really attracted to the army green of the new pro and this doesn’t help me fight that urge... must resist.
Keep your money in the bank, your 2014 should be good for about 20 more years. ;)
@@rightlanehog3151
I honestly don't intend too, unless for a total loss. I just thought the parallels between the first video and this video were a bit humorous. I enjoy having a paid off vehicle too much 😁
@@AccGrad2012 I have not had a car payment for 11 years which might be the only reason I can afford all the other d__m payments!
Would it kill them to put LED headlights on this thing!?
They'll do the same thing as they did with Highlander, wait until the all new version to go LEDs.
led bulbs 100
led bulbs 100
You cant see nothing with those projectors. I have a ‘16 sienna swapped the headlamps out for hid, what a difference it made. Literally night and day.
I think they do not install LEDs because, Toyota knows people will just modify them with light bars etc. anyway. So in essence, that would just be a waste of money, the manufacturer would rather waste it on suspension and tires(Although, I think they could have done better in choosing better tires). Again, owners will just swap tires and/or suspension anyway.
You see, it's a never ending vicious cycle unfortunately.
4Runners & Land Cruisers ARE the Beast of the SUV’s!
Don’t forget the FJ
Don’t forget GX and LX
The deep green is gorgeous and a rare color nowadays. This rig is all-around great and I'd buy one if I was in the market!
would love to have this Dinosaur
If it was about 10k cheaper id maybe buy it. But it lacks so many safety features and new tech features that even the Rav 4 has. The interior also looks cheap.
@@spursdynasty7378 its not a luxury car you wouldnt like it. i would suggest an infiniti Suv with cvt trans
LOVE THE COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My friend just bought his wife a 2015 4Runner 2WD Limited. It rode like a Camry nearly or was I imagining things?
This 4runner looks badass!
Got a new 2019 4R TRD Pro dinosaur for $3K under MSRP and couldn't be happier. I've driven Toyota trucks before and the Fox shocks feel amazing by comparison. #DinosaursRule
$3k, thats great, can share details on how you got $3k off the Pro. Was a special deal or can I also get the same deal. Would like to get the Pro but not at MSRP or above as some dealers sell for premium. I am the east coast. Thanks
I love my dinosaur.
Toyota needs to bring back the FJ
Wild Berry I want a smaller BOF, but without the clamshell doors and appearance of the FJ.
@@Libertarian_Neighbor Improved visibility and just two front wipers wouldn't hurt either. ;)
@@yt.be-r yes I mean the cruiser
Foot job cruisers?
Crawl control isnt meant to be used in that manner. The slowest mode is to be used for the toughest terrain. That's like complaining about 4x4 binding on dry pavement.
Good luck using the lowest speed crawl control on *any* terrain. You're better off controlling the speed yourself.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide I haven't driven this generation 4Runner off road but I would think the crawl control on its lowest speed will be suitable to use only when doing rock crawling or very technical terrain
The low speeds of the crawl are meant for extremely steep trails, then it functions much smoother.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Ask you your friends at TFL truck. The lowest speed on crawl control is for steep inclines and rock crawling
no biggie, very few people actually buy these versions of the 4runner and mod them, they do that with the older models.
The 4Runner is a really nice blend of old and new. That said, it's definitely showing its age on the interior, so I'm greatly looking forward to its next generation. I hope Toyota's upcoming new truck platform bears hybrid versions of all of Toyota's largest vehicles.
Nice review; my '16 T4R has everything I need and nothing I don't. It drives like the day I bought it, not a single squeak or rattle, has taken me through all kinds of terrain and weather, and i've done nothing except change fluids, filters, and tires in 80K miles. I'll always own a 4Runner.
When are these hitting dealerships? Been waiting for my 2020 4Runner venture edition to show up.
Here is what is missing: 300 hp, 6 or 7 speeds transmission, LED headlight, blind spot monitor...
Put your own LED lights on.
It doesn’t need blind spot monitoring, it’s gotta perfect view around you. Also leds are easy to install. You can get the RAV4 for all of that that’s going to be in the new generation.
I love my 2003 4runner
I have a 4Runner and it is very quiet on the road. Which can’t be said 4 any of the Jeep models. Most reviewers including myself enjoy the ride. Overall a very good review.
They should do full LED lighting and an lcd cluster display and thus far would be perfect
Is an LCD cluster actually needed?
Whoa, this is my second 4Runner and I had no idea the rear seats reclined!
LOL. We won't tell
So this year 4runner won't allow to modify front bumper? Safety sence. I knew it wasn't a good idea to add this. It's a 4x4, not a mall crawler that needs all these sensors.
Range Rover and Jeep are design to be at the repair shop. Or on the recall list for life..
It’s hilarious that he thinks someone is going to put an aftermarket brush guard or winch on a Grand Cherokee. 😂 no one in a new Cherokee is doing anything off road.
Clearly you haven't seen the GCs in my neck of the woods...
I've seen multiple.
Alex on Autos you’re talking about late model Grand Cherokee’s right? Early to mid ‘90 models, absolutely, but no one buying a Grand Cherokee in the last 5-7 years is putting winch’s or brush guards on them, unless they’re all for aesthetic.
Old but the best!
Best 4 runner review I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve owned two Land Cruiser’s and currently an FJ. If I outlive the FJ I’m getting a 4 -runner. That is unless they resurrect the FJ!😀
this car is basically a cannibal because its a dinosaur that drinks dinosaur juice
IS THAT PAINTED ON DIRT?
Toyota has spent so little updating their three largest trucks, but they are still competitive in the market.
I think many people just want a reliable vehicle and don't really care much for all the tech/toys.
I know I am looking at the 2020 4runner and I am getting the TRD Off Road and not the TRD Premium because I don't want/need all the extras.
I'm a buy and hold person myself. Still running a 2001 Yukon on the same engine and tranny. So I understand the logic.
Love the video - confused why it’s being compared to the last gen RAV 4?
Are you turning into TFL car now? What is with the funky thumbnail? They are being a bad influence on you. 🤔
It was so hot there that day that my brain was fried. And there may have been a dare...
@@AAutoBuyersGuide A dare!? Ok, we'll let it slide.... 😁 😁

Agreed. Didn't care for that thumbnail because it's reminiscent of sponsored biased reviews.
Please don't be like TFL
Everything is good, but stop with the tfl adoption! You are enough to us. Otherwise keep up the good work!
The Original Sin (a true 4x4)
Even you this sin't really made for on road/high way driving, have you tested one with the KDSS system? I heard that is a better option if you plan of using it more for on roading and occasionally off roading.
Jeep Wrangler Recovery Vehicle
The Price? Most people cannot afford to buy new vehicles , that have went through the roof , Make vehicles with less Bells and Whistles , Next thing they will add is a Heated Tail Gate.
Oooh...yeah baby!!!
How good is the lane keeping system in the 4 runner? Is it just a lane departure alert or actually keep you in the lane?
I do not understand the halogan headlights. It's 2020! Upgraded my 17 TRD Off Rd to LED.
Only thing preventing me from buying one are 6+1 randomly chosen numbers coming through
The TRD Pro model is a money grab. Here in Canada it's more than 10k for the Pro. The Off-Road model is the one to get.
Thank you Toyota for trying to keep us safe unlike the other motherfking competitors. Which we have to pay extra sh*t to keep us safe.
Wish they updated the interior on these but that would take away sales from Lexus GX and land cruiser.
Then you should wait for the New 2021Chevy Tahoe updated with tech+ and IRS too now..
At almost 50k for the TRD pro, you can get the Lexus GX 460 around $54k.
Have you noticed that the GX depreciates far more quickly than a 4Runner? When you consider they come from the same factory and that the GX is built to an even higher standard that is very unusual.
Very true. I guess there is perception Lexus is more expensive to maintain hence the drop in value. (Same story for Tacoma which holds its value very well - even the 4 cylinder ones!)
2 very different vehicles to compare
True suv vs parking lot suv, big difference.
kong thao GX is a very capable body on frame SUV. Read up.
Not that this compares but the ABS in the Prius is similarly loud.
Hi, Alex. I'm a fan of LED, but I understand that warmer lights (such as halogen) cause less glare in fog. Perhaps that played into the decision to not offer LED
Idk, I have aftermaths LED fogs on my 4R and have no problems with glare. You can get them in yellow too, if you choose.
@@Stakan79 You have white fog lights?
Alien Drone Services , yepp, Morimoto units. On my 4R and wife’s Acura. They nice.
it is ludicrous that dealer markups on 2020 TRD Pros are beyond 5 Grand!!! daylight robbery!
That's why people should buy the TRD OFF Road instead.
They can because people still line up to buy them.
I bought mine at MSRP...which kills me almost as much since they won't negotiate further, but hey, it's better than paying a markup.
Your resale value when selling a TRD pro is higher than the others and so few are produced.
Not always true, we sell these at MSRP at our dealership
You seem to have a minor misspeak at 9:35. The 4Runner compared to the 4Runner? ;)
For the price this vehicle needs the updated headlights and 360 camera that’s on the 2020 Tacoma.
Jeep much more less reliable and will not hold the value ..
And then hearing about the jeep tranny recall recently bahahaha
Is the pro solid rear? Are you sure?
Yes, it is a body on frame platform with solid axle in the rear only.
Alex is it all time 4wd. My old
4 runner 4 wd cut off over 35 mph.
Only the 4runner Limited is 4WD/AWD.
Only the limited trim is AWD. The other trims have a shift knob instead of a button to engage 4WD.
Also I have a 2019 Pro and I've gone highway speed (70+ mph) in 4WD without issue.
Love your reviews Alex. Why not review a 4-runner Off-Road instead of the Pro? It has KDDS on it which is not offered on the Pro, truly equipping it for Off road use. Big difference.
KDSS does not make it better for off-road. The Fox shocks lift the front end 1" and negates the extra articulation of KDSS, the only advantage it offers over non-KDSS models. The Pro is better equipped for off road from the factory, the Off Road is a better choice if you plan on modding the vehicle (specifically the suspension) yourself.
I would rather have halogens that I can swap with a hid or led kit, than an enclosed led housing headlight. Led headlights cost an arm and a leg to replace.
" if it ain't broke, don't fix it'"
Most interesting Toyota: stay outdated my friend.
Bong Lim I tend to agree. I’d like to see the 360 camera and better headlights that the Tacoma got on the 2020. Also, an automatic tailgate would be nice.
I love my 2018. It’s like going back in time. I hope they don’t mess up the 6th gen.
The Tacoma and 4runner have never been directly related fyi.
Well... yes and no. The 1st gen 4Runner was identical to the 4th gen pickup (Hilux) but with a fiberglass enclosure, less sheet steel behind the driver, and more seats. The pickup became its own thing after a generation and in 1995 was 'discontinued' and the Tacoma picked up from there. In the sense of design and interchangeable, shared parts, both the 4Runner and Tacoma spawned out of the Pickup, eventually becoming completely separate platforms with unique parts lists.
That was some SERIOUS off roading in that "AWD" vehiculeee jeez 😒 do you even lift bro?
I don't like fake hood scoops.
Noled or hid lighting in a 2020 is not really surprising to me about Toyota. Some things they do (or don’t) just doesn’t make any sense.
Just can't believe how bad the mpg is.
I would buy one tomorrow if they were smart enough to put a CD player in it. I like MY music!
Merlin Jones I don’t think you’re going to find a new vehicle out there that has a CD player to be honest. But if you are looking for a CD player my 2016 model has one in it and it has Bluetooth connectivity as well. CDs are just not in newer vehicles anymore
Hopefully the upcoming Bronco will give this some competition. Toyota likely won't give us a new model until then. I wish Kia would build something similar. You know it would embarrass this dated suv.
My dream
The 420 runner
It’s a nice car but it’s just a bit complicated why not make it just all wheel drive instead of your the one choosing a drive train
If Toyota had a pair, they redo it like the Toyota Fortuner sold overseas
That truck looks badass in person.
Need 300hp and 8 speed automatic
Looks like you missed the mud day... bummer
Concerning a third row seat in the 4Runner, why? It's a waste of space and a cramped area children would complain about. Great old school vehicle, though.
Curious how many 2020 model vehucles still have a 5 speed auto? I'm guessing not many?
Yeah, I think customers would be satisfied with a 6 speed for some highway driving. Next generation 4Runner will be interesting, 8-10 speed?
GGW Rumor is 8 speed for the next gen.
None. That makes the 4Runner extra special.
Actual video: normal game playin...
Thumbnail: mod crashing....
Getting you there and back. That is a Toyota. Nothing else is like it. Jeep reliability is appalling. Toyota's is a sparkling performance. Look all over the world. Land Cruiser's and this vehicle, the discontinued FJ. These are meant for getting dirty and going and making Billy Goats look like wimps. My brother has an '86 Toyota Pickup that is still going after all these years. I stop counting how many vehicles I have had in comparison. His truck just plain goes. So even though this 4Runner is an antique. It will start, and get you home every time.
Starting and running are important!
Couldn't have said it any better myself!
I am anxiously waiting some major updates to the 4Runner. I really feel like Toyota screwed up the 3rd gen Tacoma. It will be really interesting to see what they do.
I just wish they could get a modern transmission in there. The engine is fine IMO. Also it needs LEDs it's ridiculous that those weren't included in this refresh.
The 4runner is a great 10 year+ old truck design and is still great at offroad, rough and tumble action, but where is Toyota's reasonably sized on-road Suv that is more passenger-friendly and fuel-efficient? Look at the great divide from where Toyota has shrunk the new Rav4 into and where the ever-growing 2020 Highlander now sits with the all the other large 3Row SUVs...Where is Toyota's reasonably sized, on-road 2-row offering?
Rav4, CRV etc have grown if you compare them to the 90s and 00s. I liked the v6 rav4 but didnt like the slace inside. I'd would have given it a look if I was in the market now.
A smaller two row SUV would probably cannibalize sales. They had Venza but I didnt like its floaty suspension when I test drive it. The mother in law third row seats on highlander or Lexus rx-l are even worser than Pilot. Toyota actually needs a true 3 row passenger crossover.
@@JTR253 I agree, Toyota, with that sub-standard kid/emergency 3'rd row doesn't compete with the newer competition like the Atlas, Telluride, Palisade and Ascent. I agree with you too about the new Rav-4, Toyota shrunk it by 2.5 and killed 1.5" of front legroom. Being taller, it's just too cramped and small.
The 4runner, for being an older design, is great for what it does well, like towing, offroading and rock-crawling and there is nothing wrong with that. This is the right-sized vehicle for our needs, we just wish Toyota would make a more comfortable riding, fuel-efficient on-road version.
With the Venza wagon, I think Toyota worried about cannibalization of 4runner and Highlander sales so they didn't make it the full-height Suv that it should have been, but made it a wagon-style that sadly failed.
Toyota is living in the 2000 to 2010 window, when they were the innovators with a brand new group of great-sized and far more useable SUVs, even creating the mid-sized 3-row segment. These types of vehicles moved people out of the old-school cars, sedans, and wagons. But during the last few years, Toyota's competitors are the innovators with brand new SUVs that are, better-sized and more comfortable and Toyota still living with its eyes on yesterday and its solid reliability.
@@wind7sailor I visited a Toyota dealership the other day. I sat in the RAV4 and a 2019 Yaris hatch that happened to be parked nearby. Would you like to guess which one had more headroom?
@@rightlanehog3151 for us, it's more about usable legroom but headroom is important and overall people space (first and second rows). With the Rav4, Toyota sacrificed these people-centered areas to slightly increase cargo room. If they'd simply put in adjustable second-row seats, people could have enjoyed everyday people space and only adjusted their seats to the more cramped configuration that the Rav4 has today if they needed to haul something in the back.
@@wind7sailor They had a sliding second row in the 3rd generation RAV4 which is a feature they should have retained. They also made a car (Matrix) with a front-folding front passenger seat which allowed longer items to be carried easily. Why features like these disappear is anybody's guess.
You forgot to mention the Lexus GX, which is a higher in version of this. Also get you a V8. Better interior, but much uglier grill.
True.
If ARB made a front bumper for the GX I’d buy one.
I have a 2019 Lexus GX460 and a 2018 4Runner TRD pro and still prefer driving my 4Runner TRD PRO even tho the GX460 is an expensive 4Runner with has the same capabilities.
I have had 4 4-Runners over the years and never had an issue with any of them. You need to own one to know how good they are. They both get about the same fuel mileage except 460 requires premium fuel.
@@briananderson6142 Is one for the city and one for the country?

$ 49,000 Dollars? That takes the Middle Class out buying a 4Runner. Too Bad.
That’s just the trd pro.. 4Runners start at 36
@@adviksingh5723 But are they 4x4's or are you talking about the RWD 4Runner that starts at $36,000? In Montana the RWD just won't do.

Get a minivan. That's what they're for
Glad Toyota finally updated some tech. But no blind spot monitoring or led headlights? No, thanks. I’ll pass.
After driving my 2018 SR5 for 6 months - it needs at least 75 hp to be added, three more gears and an updated interior to be competitive.
I don’t find this to be fair when you compare it against the rav4 or grand.. The grand isn’t built for offroad any longer and well a rav4 isn’t either.
Yeah this thing is ten years old but the outdoor guys are buying them up like crazy.
Now of Nissan brings back something in this segment to battle with yota
Jeep would disagree..
Jeep is built around the reputation of off road vehicles. Of course, there are "SUVs" like the Compass that don't belong anywhere off road.
So he said the Wrangler was more off-road capable, ok...fine.
What about when it comes to high-speed on trails?
A Highlander will be just as reliable and have much lower running costs. People just glorify the 4Runner because it looks "cool" and is built like an oldschool truck, even though that has huge downsides, it's just sentimentality for things that are "oldschool, like in the good old time". Cars are built differently today for good reasons.
its more durable than a highlander
The 4Runner is able to do so much more than a Highlander- Completely different purposes to these two vehicles!
According to Edmunds, the cost of ownership of the 4Runner is lower than the Highlander in comparable trims. But if you're never going to off road, most people would probably prefer driving a Highlander. Judging people for what car they want or own is stupid and childish though.
Still no led headlights
Morimoto makes full LED lights for 4RUNNER.
With optional KDSS system on TRD offroad version it's on road mannerisms get much better. TRD Offroad is a much better choice
The only thing that will fit in the 3rd row is some Canadians.
you are wrong bub ! the 4runner has more cargo space than the highlander .... check your specs cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/toyota-highlander-vs-toyota-4runner
Cargo Space
Winner: 2019 Toyota 4Runner
The Highlander offers an extra row of seating, though it’s the 4Runner that’s going to be the best choice if hauling cargo is your top priority. The 4Runner offers 47.2 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seat. This expands to 89.7 cubic feet overall, with the second-row seating folded down. The 4Runner has nine cubic feet of cargo space behind its third row.
With the third-row seats upright, the Highlander delivers 13.8 cubic feet of cargo. That’s not bad and, once you stow the third row, the available cargo room grows to 42.3 cubic feet of space. Space with both rear rows folder is 83.7 cubic feet.
The 4Runner offers a little more space, so it gets the win when it comes to cargo room.
I have owned two 4Runners. They run forever. My 2006 has 190,000 miles. I test drove the 2019 not too long ago. Rugged, uncomfortable ride. This vehicle is seriously outdated. It's time for Toyota to some with the refresh stuff and introduce a modern vehicle.
They can't build them fast enough to keep up with demand.
