" I pronged a moody forkful.." 🤣 Makes me laugh out loud every time, and just one of thousands of examples of the author's fabulous use of the English language, made all the more memorable by Nick Martin's narration.
I didn’t think I’d enjoy anyone reading a Wodehouse book except Martin Jarvis-but then I found you! You do an amazing job!!! Thank you for all the enjoyment and laughter that you bring!
I'm amazed at your talent, the modulations of speech of every character! Thanks so much for giving us such pleasure.
Thank you!
"There is no time, Sir, at which ties do not matter" and "a tubby little chap who looked as if he had been poured into his clothes and forgotten to say when.". Love it !
"I have already attended to the matter, sir." It doesn't get richer than this! Your Jeeves voice is spot-on and adds so much to PGW's hilarious yarn.
Yes, he is a dry old soul! Cheers

Brilliant
"Every man starting life ought to know how to cope with an angry swan." lmao! Some of the funniest sentences known to man are in this book! Great stuff, Wodehouse! You've still got us laughing! And thanks to Nick also, for a great job narrating! I love all of your Wodehouse narrations!
I loved the gaffe after the end of this enjoyable story, where you burst into laughter at the lessening value of the tennis shoes! Re swans, I have myself been in a very similar situation. Very scary. And no Jeeveslike person in sight.
More Jeeves & Wooster please Nicky. I just love listening to you, you bloody genius! ❤️
That's great. More to come - stay tuned
Totally agree
I have, myself, been attacked by a large male swan intent on protecting his mate and bevy of small cygnets. They were out for a sunny day's expedition on the pond near my house, and I was standing on the bank taking pictures. The male swam slowly up to me while I took several pictures of him, thinking how wonderfully friendly he was being. He drew his head back, and, before I came to my senses, snapped it forward, thwacking me solidly on the thigh. I fell backward in a state of some disarray and retreated, somehow retaining my grip on my camera. By the next day I had a black bruise bigger than my hand, and hobbled around like a person twice my age for nearly a week afterward.
The swan wahala was HILARIOUS😂😂😂
I’m a late comer to Mr PG Wodehouse, I have completely fell in love with him and I’m 61! Where have I been 🤦♀️. Love love Nicky’s voice 👌🏼
What a delightful tale and so very, very British. I love Jeeves. The story was so well read that each character came to life beautifully.
Love your reading: impeccable !
Wholly delightful, in storyline, delivery and turn of phrase (giving credit where credit is due, both to yourself and to the late Mr Wodehouse).
Just gorgeous. Lovely from beginning to end. Thank you. Hi from Oz! 👇💜🙃
I love these audio versions of Wodehouse. Thanks so much!
Thank you Bridget, that's great. Another one coming tomorrow evening (uk time).
Right Ho, Geeves and Berty = Hello. Nick! Thanks a lot!
By no means do I wish to come off as a bobbin, but I must confess; were these glorious stories to be read with an American accent, the experience would be wholly different, much diminished in fact!
Oh I don't know. Thanks though.
What's an AMERICAN accent? There is no such thing an American accent.
I've never heard such a One. M. Illinois. 🇺🇸
@@Trickynickymarts oh. 😱
Scottish accent; brilliant.

"There even are places where English completely disappears. In America, they haven't used it for years." --Henry Higgins, My Fair Lady.
Obviously. Why does anyone want to think of America as English….might as well wonder about putting cowboys in Gloucestershire…
"hi hi hi HI! HI!!!" LOL this is so much fun. So brilliantly read. Such energy and each sentence is read like the person is standing in front of you relaying the story directly to you. An absolute GEM.
From now on, no one may read P.G. Wodehouse to me but you. You bring something extra special to the table. RAH THUH!
What a splendid thought for me to start the day on! Thank you.

Wonderful reading! Thank you!
You. - my dearest friend have showered me with the most delightful of readings, bringing to life every character’s nuance from your imaginative story telling. Encore!
Very pleased you are having fun with them and thank. Encore coming soon!
In my opinion, your Wodehouse readings rival the great Jonathan Cecil's. You both have the ability to make me laugh out loud with your pitch-perfect delivery of the Wodehousian turns of phrase (although I prefer your interpretation of Jeeves and Wooster to his, in all honesty).
P. S. More outtakes please, that bit at the end had me cracking up!
Thank you! Pleased you enjoy them so much. More out-takes - ok, next time!
I also love the speed with which you read. A nice unhurried pace. Perfect
Pie faced little thug cut me up.Tricky is the man to do this reading
Another fantastic reading! Thank you for brightening my day and what a great kick off to the New Year! I hope you are having a great day, Mr. Martin.
Thanks you!
Beautifully read. One of PGW's absolute bestest!
Thanks. And there's quite a bunch of bestest to choose from!
I have an MA in British lit and yet, never read Wodehouse. Thank you for a delightful introduction.
Gwendolyn you have much catching up to do - get cracking!
@@Trickynickymarts I do and I will!
Aww, bonus outtake at the end!
Delightful!
Cheers!
Many Thanks for this. It cheered us up greatly.
Good, I am all for plenty of cheer!
great stuff, well done and thanks
Jeeves is my Dude! The blooper at the end was a cute way to close out. 😅
Thank you for sharing your laugh at the end! I needed that more than I can explain.
You are an exceptional performer. Congratulations and a huge thank you.
Paying attention to the use of ‘upper class’ manner for fun, priceless
Thank you! So fun. :D
Oh my gosh, your reading is beyond perfect! So enjoyed this!
Thank you for this, it made my day!
Great!
Nick Martin IS SIR HIMSELF... Bliss..
Another fabulous performance.
Thank you Gina
Trickynicky Marts I was wondering are your audio books on CD's and for sale? And if so where can I buy them? I am an artist and I like to listen to audio books in the studio when I'm working.
Hi Gina, its very flattering that you would be willing to pay for my efforts - thank you! But I really only do it as an amateur and so nothing is set up on cd or for payment. I think there is a way to download from YT. I can check. Out of interest, what do you create in your studio?
Trickynicky Marts I work in watercolor, and acrylic mostly. I paint portraits, some people and some pets. And I just finished a commission for a seascape that I think turned out quit nice..... and I must say, you have a wonderful voice and are quite talented at narration. If you should so choose I am sure an audio book publisher would snap you up. We in the RUclips community are quite fortunate to listen you your work for free. And I for one am grateful to have discovered your channel.
Sounds like you are very productive on the painting front! Thank you for the kind words on the stories and free is fine with me. Cheers
Loved it!! Thanks😁👍
Thanks for another one!
Cheers
Happy to see this on my screen the first thing in the morning!
Great, thanks
Yay Nick! Excellent as always! Hope all is well w/you & fam. Blessings fr Nashville yall! ✝️✌️❤️🙏🏼 (Love the outtakes😂)
Thanks, all well here and you too I hope. I had forgotten that little bit I slipped in at the end. Yes, sometimes the turn of phrase make its hard to keep a straight furrow! Cheers
Well, that was a vain hope. The reader doesn’t know how to pronounce “sagacity”.
I love the description of the Right Hon. being a tubby man who looked as though he had been poured into his clothes and had forgotten to say, “when”.
I certainly agree that this wouldn't have the same impact without the accent, the unique words and phrases that are all strictly British... I tried sharing some with my husband, but he just got confused... Quickly. 😊
Now I've discovered this and am so happy about it. So thoroughly enjoyable. I'm going to tell my kids & others about P. G. Woodhouse and Jeeves.
got first one in ! nicely done .
Cheers Tone
You endeavour to give satisfaction, and succeed once again. Tinkety tonk.
I'm laughing my a*@ off listening to this book, which is great so far btw,. But the way they speak for some reason is so hilarious, for example "that's precisely what I was endeavouring to convey" made me die laughing cause nobody would say that, thanks for uploading!
As always, a great audiobook..... 🙏
Hello Sir.
I hope you are doing well.
More Jeeves and Wooster please!
I love this video and story, especially the blooper at the end. 😊
Thanks, Irma from Texas
"There is no time at which ties do not matter." 😊
Thank you 🌸🌷💐
I love Jeeves's responses, hilarious.
Don't you dream of having a Jeeves by your side, at least once a week, to help you clarify some blurry corners?
I think my blurry corners may need at least twice a week!
To tell you the truth, living in Argentina requires a daily Jeeves.
thank you, thank you, thank you 😊
Bravo!
Thank you 😊
Wonderful 👍
I enjoyed it a lot. Could you please do "Getting Married" by A. A. Milne?
Thanks. It might be a bit long for me
Thank you
hooray for the swan!
And all her little babies! Cheers
Brilliant
thank you
will savour this one for later
"Never tickle a Tiger " is marvellous

Cheers. Ah well when you say its made for children, YT don't allow comments.
very nice

I can only picture Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry
"...further supply of neck in our direction" )
sounds quite a bit like Stephen Fry
So
He finally revealed Bingo Little to be His best friend. 👦 I always thought it was Gussy Finknottke. Huh. For years the qu swirled on who was Berdie.s bestie.
Now I can sleep 🛌

If you read/listen to more of Bertie's stories, you'll find that he more or less doesn't really like Gussie, but he has this sort of grudging loyalty to him because they went to the same school before university. Usually he refers to him as a fish faced freak, a poop, and just with general disapproval because Gussie doesn't drink and is a bit too invested in his newts. I'd say he likes Gussie least of all his friends, but they all have a tendency to land him in the soup. He himself isn't a whole lot better though, he's landed them in the soup a few times as well.
You’re the best ever. Even better than Richard Brier
Goodness! Cheers.

Most excellent ol bean...
I don’t understand the above comment, but why do Wooster’s friends always sound like Yorkshire farmers instead of Eton and Oxford graduates?
I wouldn't say Yorkshire but I know what you mean. I thought it would be a bit bland if everyone sounded the same - and maybe they didn't. Thanks.
🤣🤣🤣
Why are the definite and indefinite articles being accented as the main point of the sentences?
"a" becomes AYE and "the" becomes THEE. These are parts of speech to help the flow, but are increasingly becoming the focus.
Well, I suppose we all have different ways of speaking and it changes over time. I am sure Bertie would have actually spoken in a very different way to my portrayal.
@@Trickynickymarts I like your way of speaking just fine.
Typical of the social class of the period!
why is RUclips not responding

@@Trickynickymarts my phone's to blame ; it's senile whilst trying to cope with my ever more ingenious ways to overload its pathetic memory . New device - when I can be arsed .
I do hope the reader doesn’t mangle this book with mispronunciations.
Slow reader. Too slow.
No problem, you can speed up playback as fast as you want through YT settings.
Me too thinking same - lightening wit doesn't slow down well .
There's an old proverb about casting pearls before swine; it comes to mind after seeing a comment like this.
@Figaro Hey! Maybe you could buy the book and read it at a speed more to your liking.
