    This is my most watched RUclips video with almost 3 million views. I traveled with my mother to London to visit my family. This was not the first time that I did travel through Euro Tunnel but it was first time travel with my beloved mother.
    Groupe Eurotunnel S.A. manages and operates the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France including the vehicle shuttle services, and earns revenue on other trains (DB Schenker freight and Eurostar passenger) through the tunnel. It is listed on both the London Stock Exchange and Euronext Paris.
    The railway operation has 50.5 kilometres (31.4 mi) of double track railway in the main tunnels, plus extensive surface-level terminal facilities at Folkestone in the UK and at Frethun in France; the operation is entirely self-contained, with connections near the two terminals to the respective national railway networks. Signalling and electric traction supply at 25kV AC are also under Eurotunnel control.
    Train operation consists of shuttle trains conveying cars and coaches and other trains conveying heavy goods vehicles between the two terminals. Other trains using Eurotunnel infrastructure are operated by the respective owners.

      There are 3 tunnels the high speed passenger tunnel the service tunnel and the low speed car ferry tunnel to take cars

    • @JohnSmith-xi3sq
      @JohnSmith-xi3sq 7 лет назад +23

      Denis Goguen no there are 2 tunnels used by both the Eurostar passenger trains from & from London to Paris or Brussels & the Shuttle which goes from a depot near Folkestone to another near Calais. Effectively it is a dual track.There is a separate service tunnel between them. There are crossovers about a third of the way through so if there is a track problem trains can be run from one trac to the other. Regular users on either service are familiar with the tunnel.

    • @tobys_transport_videos
      @tobys_transport_videos 7 лет назад +6

      There is a third tunnel, which is between the two rail tunnels. This is an emergency access tunnel, and has been used on a few occasions.

It just holds cars... Went in it once and will definitely forget about it. I didn’t even remember I went on it until this video.

    • @littlebigman6957
      @littlebigman6957 6 лет назад

      Biker Boiy they don't lock the inter carriage doors for safety . Also that is how you move up or down the train to the bog. They lock the big drop down doors .you have to press a button to access the smaller doors on either side

    • @dmclement74
      @dmclement74 6 лет назад

      Cars travel in the other half of the train usually, which is divided into two decks, you drive onto the train then immediately up a ramp onto the top deck, or if going on lower deck, you drive past the coach with the ramp and enter the next one onto the lower deck.

    So I was thinking, wow the bus had to travel 50+ KM on that tight square tunnel that's being lit on lights?
    Then the door closes and it starts moving. At this point, it just blew my mind after realizing that this is a freaking train!
    I should've known that a 50KM tunnel should be square like how they usually are and are completely dark.

    I am a german coach driver...often go to the UK ...by train shuttle,as well as by ferry,but for myself I prefer the ferry sailings! At the train shuttle,you see,there is no staff for regulations at the boarding area, just traffic lights.....if you drive into the waggons,its very narrow,but it fits for the coach....after you have reached your park position with the coach,doors closed in front and behind you...after that you have the possibilty to reach the toilets through small air pressered doors....from ine waggon to the next forwards or backwards,cause there are toilets only in the first and last waggon...for that you see people,stepped out of the coaches,walking from door to door,from waggon to waggon...to reach the toilets!
    Once I’ve got the chance to visit the train in his cabine ( I asked for this) and he explained me the dash,monitors,touch screen...that he gots 4 engienes...but 2 were out off work...and that he has 2 chances to switch on the other side with that train...one near Calais....next near Folkstone.......and that every 300 Meters they will have Emergency Exits...and also a lot of railroad works in the tunnel,for that he often has to go slow...highest speed,he showed me,was 140 km/h...for a short while...!
    It takes about 35 minutes this ride...but I still prefer the confortable ferry cruise...on ferries with restaurants...shops...services...and “real weather”...and the view of the “white cliffs of Dover”...THAT means to me “Travelling to England”...
    Thanks for the video!

    I have always wondered why Amtrak doesn't have this, not for buses, but for cars. For example: One route is from Los Angeles to Chicago with major stops in Albuquerque and Kansas City (besides a ton of minor stops.) If you could Put your car on/off at those 4 major stations, they could really increase revenue. We love our cars and taking the train, with our cars, would enhance our vacations and make money for Amtrak. I think Amtrak may do this on the New York to Florida stretch. But, that would be the only one.

    А для чего межвагонные двери с ролетами нужны, они ведь не герметичные? Они явно не спасут от затопления если что, зато в случае поломки одной из секций весь транспорт позади будет заблокирован. Кроме того, это значительное удорожание конструкции поезда, а целесообразность их наличия сомнительная.

      No, you can either sit in your vehicle or stand at the side of the train, there is no passenger seating

      There are the Eurostar services which are passenger only and operate from a number of stations in South East England to those in Continental Europe. If you're on the Chunnel its only about half an hour

      TheRenaissanceman65 the whole journey takes 35 minutes but you are in the actual tunnel for 30 minutes . The extra 5 minutes is for manoeuvring the train ready for the next journey
