"That story is obviously false" oh screw you. You people believe in crazy shit like ghosts, but DON'T believe in the objectively real gnomes? Every culture that's come to Wisconsin has gnome stories. The native Ho-Chunk speak of the heroka, the Dakota told of the canoti, the Menominee the memegwesi. Immigrants to the state also spoke of the gnomes. Potawatomi talked about the pa'is. The Ojibwe immigrants have stories of the bagwajiwinini. The French immigrants told stories of les lutin. The Cornish talked of tommyknockers in the lead mines. The Oneida spoke of the drum dancers. The Brothertown, the makia'wisag. The Irish, the leprechaun. The Icelanders who settled on Washington Island spoke of huldrefolk. Then ya got the more modern gnome sightings, in Fifield, the Punchbowl, Barron County, the St. Croix River Valley. So, what, it's just a coincidence that every culture who ends up in Wisconsin speaks of tiny men who throw rocks and can be appeased with sweets living in the woods of the State of Wisconsin? Over eleven different cultures in Wisconsin saying the EXACT SAME THING and yet you dismiss it as too ridiculous to believe in? Open your mind! The gnomes are real!
I’ve never heard of this legend
