Wow . . . Insane build quality / design. I priced one out on your website, and to be honest I think You could raise your prices another 25% EASILY. That's a TON of fabrication work and machining, not to mention the cost of the equipment, labor, and materials.

Wonder how it would be if the bottom rack slid out just don't see it on any smokers. Beautiful smoker and the price is good too.
We considered that at one point, but you would lose some cooking space by the collector and firebox side, unless you have internal racks next to the slide out rack. But now you can’t have food laying across both racks, otherwise you can no longer slide the main rack out… so this is also why we cut the top of the door 2” beyond center, so you have a wider viewing angle and more room to reach in and still maintain maximum rack space. How do you like the pit? Where you located?
@@JCampAZ We are in the Finger lakes of NY. I absolutely love it. It holds temps incredibly well and is almost too easy to use. I used it down into the 50F temperature range with no issues. Now that we are much colder I plan on seeing how it behaves at 32F and below. It is worth every penny. On his website I think the photos toward the bottom are of my pit "Ole Smoky". I highly highly recommend it if it's within your price range.

Really like this design. We are in the Finger Lakes of NY so our warm weather is short lived. Insulated, drip protector, and other little details that this addresses that many overlook. Plus pricing seems good too. I was looking at another offset but I think this will be the one I order in the coming months. Anyway of adding a door and grates to the firebox for the "cowboy firebox/grill"? I plan to use the offset for my charcoal/wood grilling instead of having a separate charcoal grill.

Do you have tuning plates to go across the whole bottom? Also, do you mane a firebox with air intake control like a sliding opening? Great looking smoker!
I think I can field this one. I have one if these smokers. There are no tuning plates as this is a conventional smoker and not a reverse flow. There is a small heat deflector at the throat of the firebox (pretty much like all offsets you will find) that allows the smoke (heat) to exit the fire box and go to the top of the smoker, then exit out the collector. As far as a slide vent. I spoke with the builder (Jason) before I ordered mine. He does not put vents at the bottom of the door as it will create a very drafty spot and potentially pull ash up into the cook chamber. He has notches in the door latch itself where you control the airflow with the door. This makes total sense. After speaking with him I thought "Why would you want the draftiest part of the smoker to be right where all the spent ash is?" I find Patriot Pits system works perfectly and gives you a very even flow of air into the firebox, as air is coming in from three sides (Excluding the hinge side) rather evenly. They are designed so well that with the door fully open and a good coal bed/ fire you will actually hear the draft rolling through the smoker. Obliviously you would not want to smoke like this, but for hot and fast chicken wings or something like that. it is perfect. Then when you want the temps back down to 225 - 275 you just close the door accordingly, and fine tune your temps with the stack cap. It's a really good system.

would be nice with just a trailer axle and a hitch adapter that way you could tow it/move it around the yard with a mower.
