  • Watch the 2020 Isaac Asimov Memorial Debate on Alien Life: • 2020 Isaac Asimov Memo...
Can the entire universe be explained with a single, unifying theory? This is perhaps the most fundamental question in all of science, and it may also be the most controversial.
Albert Einstein was among the first to envision a unified theory that could account for the behavior of all matter and energy in the cosmos, but a definitive solution has eluded physicists to this day. As the 21st century progresses, "string theory" remains the leading candidate to be the "theory of everything"-although some have come to question whether string theorists are on the right track. Still others doubt that a "theory of everything" exists at all-and consider the search for such a theory an outdated philosophy of our search for cosmic truths.
Join Director of the Hayden Planetarium Neil deGrasse Tyson as he hosts and moderates six of the world's leading voices in this great scientific debate.

Any student aiming for the best will get into that kind of trouble. I aced my college diploma but the teachers made it as hard as possible right up to the last moment just because that school didn’t regularly produce A* students so they REALLY made me work harder than I had to and it scarred my view of teaching and education but it was a good experience.

Like one of the panelists said, even with such a theory, I could not tell you what I am going to eat for lunch forty years and three days from today, so given its limited scope the scope of questions it can ask are such that no contradiction could arise.

My hypothesis is that the fourth dimension is time. So we are already living in a 4 dimensional world, but we are stuck on a one way trip along the time dimension(as in, we can't go back and forth along the time line, only forward.). I am, however, not informed of the equations I would need, nor intelligent enough to work the equations to test that.

Even though your comment may be light hearted, one high school dropout out of a million, hundred thousand, ten thousand or even ONE thousand means the odds are greatly against you(to be successful) if you dropout!
On the other hand, the more educated you are, they more likely you are to be successful.
So kids stay in school and educate yourself!!! And succeed!

If there is no substantial experimental evidence behind string theory, why is it not called String Hypothesis?

    • @Theatr1cal1ty
      @Theatr1cal1ty 5 лет назад +1

Because a theory can exist without any substantial experimental evidence. Like the flat earth theory and the hollow earth theory, which both do not have a single substantial experimental evidence. Maybe I am right, or wrong, please correct me.

It's called the String Theory because it is not just about one thing which could be true or not. For instance there is no such thing as the Round Earth Theory even if there are proofs that earth is round. It's just a particular case in a bigger gathering of notions that is the Gravitational theory of Newton which says that most objects (if they are big enough relatively to the near objects) in the Universe are sort of "round". In string theory there are many mathematical notions that are coherent and make sense. In fact it propose to predicts things, the experiments are just for now impossible.

    • @graceonfilmsnstuff

it is called a theory because it has certain consistent and systemic mathemaical constructs that at the least looks promising unlike an hypothesis which is only an idea

It is obvious that this guy doesn't know even the basics - like what time dilation is and how it favors the traveler.
I mean, if you can travel with relativistic speeds, you visit Earth in 2000 BC, and then you go to 2 days trip, and when you come back is 2000 AD.

Life is not science and physics. These "things" are ignorant (dead). Life is magic (love) and metaphysics.
    Metaphysical Hierarchy:
    Mystic... beautiful dreaming
    Magical... harmony
    Musical... language of music
    Artistic... pictures/metaphors
    Poetic... language of words
    Numerical...we are here
Mystics create the most joy (smart). Accountants create the least joy (ignorant). Yet accountants rule the world (ignorant).
Ever notice that beings who speak in the language of music can create joy that energizes thousands of beings to celebrate and dance?
Ever notice that corpses who speak with brain numbing, soul sucking numbers do the exact opposite?
Sanction, starve, torture, murder and bomb (wheeeee)! Ignorance (hate) is bliss for vampires (greed). But not much fun for the humans (love) who they are sucking the joy out of.
Vampires (greed) are inhumane because they are not human. The counting corpses commit crimes against humanity because they are not human.
Light and truth (love) cause vampires (greed) great pain and suffering. That's why the words society (socialism), community (communism), "care for all" and "green new deal" cause the counting corpses that rule US such misery.
Vampires (greed) are "blind" and cannot "see"'the ignorance of transforming heaven (peace) into hell (war).
The counting corpses are also blind and cannot see the ignorance of transforming this paradise planet lifeboat into a polluted pig pen.
The evangelical monsters are "desperate" to control a darkship called the Whitehouse. Because working in the dark to suck the joy out of life and devour earth is the only way that the loveless, lifeless parasites can survive and thrive.
Unlike earthling poets, artists, musicians, mystics, human beings and creators of joy...the evangelical counting corpses that rule US can't create harmony (real intelligence) because vampires (greed) are far worse than stupid. The loveless, lifeless parasites are ignorant (dead).
Darkness (business) exists so that stars (light and warmth) have a place to shine in heaven (joy, beauty and harmony).
Stars like US don't exist to be sucked out of heaven by a giant black hole in space called "greed" and it's ignorance (hate).
Also, Love (god) spent billions of years creating this paradise planet lifeboat so that her miraculous works of fine art called "life" have a beautiful place to "be".
Love didn't spend so much time creating this paradise planet lifeboat to be depreciated, hated, polluted and destroyed in a brief moment by hostile alien vampires (greed) and their ignorance (hate).
Question. Why are the counting corpses using the bible as a springboard to perform somersaults to do the exact opposite of "love their neighbors" and "treat others like they want to be treated"?
Answer. This is sick. Because these simple concepts are too far out there to grasp for vampires (greed).
Currently, the evangelical vampires (greed) are hiding behind the robe of truth (love) to worship ignorance (hate).
The truth said with the wrong intent is worse than all that lies invent.

the brain is very difficult to know about.
i think the only reason you believe all this is a similar reason to how a human cant grasp long periods of time, even a thousand years is too long thats why any human will easily believe anything that is said to have happened a long time ago.
but humans have been around for much longer than that.
i think that is a similar reason to why you believe in such mysticism.
there is too much to the brain and a human cant know everything about the brain or even a little.
      and so resort to mysticism.
all these things mentioned in your comment is just a product of the brain which is prpduct of whatever else.

If you love the universe the birds will make you mentally ill so you fight with the environment to make it intelligent. Your supposed to make the environment intelligent so no God needed. God has been liberated and he is fully capable of evolving himself without any help. God don't want your worship he just wants to get married. Royal weddings is most watched thing on television. We fixed the video and audio for best experience possible. Cameras are supernatural and all of them captured 3D. The audio loud don't make violence so has depth. Nobody has to buy anything for it to work.
