Julie Goodyear was a true queen but could actually act. She was a master of one liners and balancing comedy and drama. In the latter 70s and early 80s her wit was gold.
Completely agree, I love all the incarnations of Bet Lynch. But watching the Street back, I preferred the wisecracking barmaid rather than the grande-dame landlady.
Just shows you how wonderful Corrie was then & why Julie Goodyear will always be the queen of Corrie ❤️ So real so talented so down to earth & real I’ll always love you Bet ( Julie Goodyear )💚❤️
My dad Melvyn Hayes worked with Julie on a comedy series Revolver for BBC Scotland for 2 seasons in 2001 and 2004 respectively, Melvyn is my foster father
The smoking thing, I know it's already been said but it really is odd to see someone just light up mid interview. Even when I smoked during the mid 90's to mid 00's, and it was becoming more and more frowned upon, I never thought we'd reach the stage so relatively quickly where smoking is practically outlawed and it's not at all common to see someone smoke these days.
Yep, Julie Goodyear was and is unbearably fake - whereas her character had a heart underneath that brassy exterior, Goodyear is just an egotistical bitch.
@@MarthaMansbridge couldnt agree more my friend I loved bet Lynch but Julie Goodyear is a pretentious egomaniac who believed she was bigger than bet Lynch off screen. I watched her in celebrity big brother and she hasn't changed she still thinks she's a superstar and still in the 80s and 90s when she was quite famous... she acted like she was Elizabeth Taylor or Joan Crawford behind the scenes of coronation street and thought she was the star and bigger than the show.... nobody will ever be bigger than the show and that's why they got shut of her she became to big for her boots! yea mate a vile woman in real life xx
@@jdb7752 she had a shit life and I know that can't always be an excuse to how you eventually turn out, but I can see why Julie Goodyear is the way she is 🤷
Given that they record several weeks ahead of going to air its very likely she would have known that storyline and in fact they'd probably have moved on from that story line by the time of this interview ..
Julies (Bet) very full of herself. Unlike Pat (Elise) and Jean (Hilda) when they were interviewed by Terry they entered gracefully where Julie had to make a grand entrance......

A female drag-queen !

@@nb8936 Stupid comment. Banning smoking was about health and fire hazards, not just to infringe on your freedom.
Another great find - thank you
Still looking terrific at 46
How 80’s is this? Fabulous!
SMOKING 🚬 on tv in a chat show lol 😂 NAWTY HAHA love her
Strange seeing someone light up a cig ha ha.
What a wonderful actress.
The entrances the guests made on this show are amazing
she's trying to act & speak so posh but she's common as muck hehe. I love JG x

Another interesting interview
She a Legend Julie Goodyear she is 80 but what happened to her now ?
One in a million
One & only ❤️
Icon ❤
Julie probably would have known then as the episode announcing her pregnancy was shown on 29 February 1988.
Given that they record several weeks ahead of going to air its very likely she would have known that storyline and in fact they'd probably have moved on from that story line by the time of this interview ..
Lewis, I wish you would allow comments on all your videos. We Corrie fans love to share opinions with each other in the comments sections.
And as if on cue...thank you Lewis!
7:48 Julie mentions Anita Dobson
I bet if Julie Goodyear and Bette Davis met in the past bet they would have gone on really well both smokers.
Lewis, some great uploads of late. Do you have 'This Is Your Life Pat Phoenix' at all?
I want to see that too please
❤
8:27 ❤❤❤ so true
Legend. 🚬
Video movies good
Julies (Bet) very full of herself.

Fair play to her, good to have a mix of people, and that's why she's a British Legend
10p for a meat and tater pie? Those were the days.
Ha She wears her hair, make-up and dresses the same as Bette in reality, too!!
Im not sure Terry liked her very much.
