the "you're a superstar" ending was really motivating!! thank you for this video 💖
Agreed, it was definitely a nice touch.
Hey, just wanted to reaffirm that your work is impactful for small creators like me. You mentioned your channel isn't doing that well lately but just wanted to put it out there that there are people who appreciate such work especially when you put out advice for small creators like myself. Keep it up my boy!
I really needed this pep talk and advice. Being a streamer of 7 years, I suffered from a lot of self-sabotage. I don't wanna quit streaming, I just wanna go back to having fun. ^_^
same tbh
At least you got people in look at people like me
Best "REAL" video I have watched in a long time.
Been subscribed for years and keep coming back when I get the motivation to start taking streaming/ content creating seriously. Appreciate all of your hard work and dedication to the art and community. Following your videos on overlay creation from a couple years ago, and really glad I stopped to watch this one. Keep on keeping on, and never stop never-stopping. Thank you!
Thank you so much!!!
This spoke to me a great deal, so thank you.
I'm struggling quite a lot with finding a new direction, as I both fell out of love with the thing that got me to becoming a full time creator, and the game I was known for lost popularity and eventually died off, which led to me losing traction altogether, and I've not been able to get that back since the end of 2022, certainly not on any consistent level.
I love the experiences of being a creator, but the knowledge that I not only wanted to change direction, but HAD to has led me to feeling burnt out and struggling to regain what I once had, spiralling out of consistency etc etc.
I'd LOVE to talk to you, (or anyone really) about this further, and not enough people talk about these pitfalls, so as someone who has fallen into some of the pitfalls you mention here (particularly the emotional attachment aspect), thank you for vocalising this!
This comment totally resonates with me. I'd actually like to talk to you about your journey because I think I may be a year or so behind you and already feel some of the things you've mentioned happening to my channel!

This was great! I loved when you mentioned not liking something about yourself, but your chat/audience is sitting there enjoying it, "Give it to us" That really gave me a boost of confidence there :)
Haha, Vtuber reporting in for combat! But you're deadass right. You *have to* escape the vtuber sphere in order to succeed as a vtuber, and you're definitely right that you don't need a crazy expensive model. There's a bit of grey area there, having a good looking model absolutely helps grab attention right away, but that doesn't need to be a 5k model. I noticed a lot more engagement when I went from a bad looking model that I made myself to a good looking model, but you still need to know what you are doing as a content creator.
I watched this video when you posted it, Gael, but I just re-watched it. I really needed to hear all of this for a reminder. Thank you for sharing.
16:44 VTUBERS MENTIONED 🗣‼‼
haha fr though, I love vtubers and other content creators that talk normally and don't lean in too hard into a persona or overacting mode because they feel like that's what creators like them are supposed to do. and I really, really love the pep talk at the end. thanks for this video!
I can resonate with the majority of this... just started. As a hobby for now, put myself out there, got my 1st hater who called me out on my content, still feel like I'm walking in quicksand, slowly.
thx for this video
Hey man I have to say I have to give you a big thank you. I have to say you have help me a lot in get my stuff together for RUclips and twitch. I have found myself always coming to your videos for help. Thank you! I try to stream but due to family and work I don’t get much of a chance but I do try to continue my RUclips but I just want to say thank you your guides man
Exactly what I needed, thank you after all these years as the best go to for anything related to being the best creator I can be brother.
Watching your videos frome France ! It's lot of value for people who create a content on internet and it's let me to see I'm not alone to feel some of those feelings ! Thanks from France Gael !
Will do my first time stream in a while. I'm glad I watched this video. Thank you!
Well, I gotta say... These were kinda the points I need to focus. And you said it straight to my face. Again.
Because I already heard it. I already taught about it. Wrote about it. Slept about it. And in the next day here I am changing my username again, creating a new channel, updating the schedule, etc.
It's hard, but it doesn't have to be. There's a balance. Even if it's work, there's a balance.
Nice video, and nice message. 👊🏻🧡
REAL. I think now we are able to see the aftermath of youtubers due to them retiring and the longevity being 10 years if you’re lucky. It’s not a life long venture.
This really resonated with me and where I am currently at in my streaming and content creation journey. CC is going okish, streaming is a bit of a slog. Great video, thank you!
ive learned so much watching u man thank u for this !!
always telling it like it is love the honesty and love that ur always willing to open up to us keep being the amazing person u are and u are a superstar too bro
Thank you! Good challenges to our thinking, also good encouragement. Yes we do need to assess what and why, not just how, we are doing this streaming thing.
Great video, this is something I absolutely been needing to hear
Thank you. I needed this.
Thanks man- there was a couple things i think i needed to hear
wow...I thoroughly enjoyed this. You gave me a lot to think about while also being more motivated to continue on my journey. Thanks for this. Good stuff!
Excellent words! The writing on the screen was a little distracting, but also kept me wanting to watch longer because I wanted to see what it was going to say.
Really amazing video, thank you!
Thank you galel for givin realist advice at the same time, giving us self boost 💯
dude awesome video. took alot of information from this as a small streamer.
"It's not my fault that I'm not blowing up" 😬 We talked about this briefly. We are responsible for what we do creatively.
My channel suffers from a pointed direction as well, it's the one thing I struggle with, well one of the things I struggle with.
Side note: After dark Gael is the greatest Gael.
❤ wow cheers! Thank you Gael!
Another great video
Thank you for this video! Your awesome!
Amazing and true video !
You a real one, consistently spitting facts!
Really enjoyed this sit down talking style, and your neon comments on the sides!
Just a thought: because you're holding your phone in front of you what if you had a soft light coming from the screen? might add some depth to the room (but could also make you look scary so idk)
yo thanks for the coaching session boss
hope this doesnt flop so u can make more vids like this and i get to watch em lul
i'm a "hobbyist" but only because i'm a complete failure. i "want" to make this my job, but only because i "have" to make money. it's not that i don't try. i have always been well aware that i could and should be doing more and doing it better. but a lot of the things that stop me from just going out there and doing the "easy" thing of simply getting a normal job are holding me back in the content creation space. i started watching twitch just to see more of a game i liked, but then eventually it was the thing that let me feel human again. i wanted to make friends, but after all these years i've just wasted a lot of time
Love this video
Great video! Thanks... 👍
TBH I was a little thrown at first by your video, was rubbing me the wrong way. I stuck through to the end, and you really hit on some good points that made me do some self reflecting. Well done.
no cap ur right there's a lot of fake clout chasing content creators here not me I do this for the love and if I get monetized that's a bonus
Great video
17:03 Lol my avatar cost nothing at all🤣
Cool. Thanks
Need to here the "youre a superstar" part... thank you
Great send off to an already great real talk video. Now both Gael AND my mommy thinks I'm a super star :D
Let me ask you this... In my channel I've seen people are hardcore for one game so when you play another game the game doesn't get much views, so would you say stick to the single game and open another channel for another game or stick to a specific category of games like survival or FPS games for a single channel
I only stopped because i couldn't afford stable Internet after losing my main Internet connection, and i have problems in my household i can't fully avoid nor really talk about that would discourage me, and that's why i stopped creating content. Maybe i will go back, i miss it and the friends i made through it all.
I love ur thumbnail can you teach us how We create like that
You said I'm a superstar!
real genius.
Gael The Void 👀
Happy hobby happy life👍
Sound advices
"lazy content" is still content
💯💯💯
👑
iv seen people on twitch Come & grow fast & then there's people that copy's others try grow then just levee
Great video as always.
What was the subject ?😁
Who cares?
I just love watching you be you
❤ love to see the “real” content ❤
I hope all content creators see this. You put what I’ve been thinking and feeling into concise words. I appreciate you! Cheers to the superstars out there
I currently have 18 RUclips subscribers and 1.4k Twitch followers. I'm gonna come back in a couple months because I DO want to quit my day job, because if I can make any progress anyone else sure can.
I wish people understand disability people like me that is fear of talking when I get bullied a lot when people say I don’t understand what you said to me when I struggle to talk or explain things or more .
Being born with microcephaly is scary and it’s hard and not easy especially if you are a small streamer which I am and no one really comes to your streams yet I don’t talk for a reason when others years ago on RUclips why I don’t go to college when I don’t for a reason sence I’m a self thought born artist sence a infant sence I was born year 1995 when people out side and social media don’t respect and don’t understand you or how we trying to be like them when they push us away and bully who we are and laugh at us or what we do to express ourselves same with autism people that struggling and how we are mistreated even on school cause I was even by teachers . 0:15
😎👍
Hello I am the VTuber that will fight you! 8D ....no not really, I get what you're getting at. Being too deep in a community niche makes it very hard to see what's outside of it. The outside is scary! You LIKE what's inside the community! But there's success to be had for people bold enough to step away.
(anyone saying that their model is holding them back just doesn't know how to use their 500 dollar model well enough, and they need to make better quality content and/or do a major overhaul of their software and hardware settings ok ok ok I'm done I'm done)
Dude why are you doing this in the dark?
I said in the beginning of the video, I'm in a public place and don't want people to find me and potentially harass me.
@@Gael_Level i was just wondering. It kinda goes against everything you've been saying, proper lighting, and all, you think you got so many subscribers you can put bs like this out?
I rembr ur vid in support of BLM and that was racist lul
??? What are you talking about?
