    Excellent! I was nearly stranded up there a few weeks before you filmed this (28 February 2018) due to the Beast from the East. Just managed to get home to West Yorkshire before both routes out of Scotland we’re closed for several days.

      I few happen to become casualties. ScotRail runs a inspection trolley through to remove the casualties in case it distresses the passengers.
      How many passengers were there in total on that run? We don't see how well used the line is & whether it covers staff costs in the winter months.

    • @pxsrrail2558
      @pxsrrail2558 4 года назад +1

      @@NJPurling in the summer the trains are packed to the brim with tourists - hence the introduction of the Class 153 bike/luggage/ski storage and café vehicles to be added to the most popular services. In winter it's just the odd local going from village to village or home from Glasgow

    Great video, going over Rannoch Moor was a total whiteout, pity you had to get "off" at Spean Bridge, it's less than ten minutes to Fort William where you could have ended the video, nevertheless, I enjoyed my run in the train from Crianlarich to Spean Bridge

    So, can anyone answer this please?
    At 9:50 - 10:00 the points are thrown for the passing loop and the train runs over them without derailing?
    How and why??

    • @spottingscotland6534
      @spottingscotland6534 2 года назад +2

      These points are sprung loaded so when the train passes over them the points move to the correct position, this then means that you don’t have to touch the points as a signaller meaning less time wasted and less to worry about.

  • @andrewbrown4701
    @andrewbrown4701 4 года назад +2

    Unless it is just me thinking this but i seen at Bridge of Orchy and Rannoch the points were not set corectley

    • @NikolaiMTA
      @NikolaiMTA 4 года назад +1

      You'd be correct. They're spring loaded, so they don't require any actual control. They are moved by the wheels as the train passes over in the reverse direction, and simply spring back into position once the train has passed.
      Look up Radio Electronic Token Block on Wikipedia, it's the system they're using here.

      I find that GoPro studio’s have a process on the MP4 that makes it quicker to upload, but aside from that can only think that changing internet service provider might help,

      Look at the front of a class 156 sprinter and you will understand why its like that. The cab is divided by a passenger walkway so that when units are joined together passengers can walk the length of the train.
