Well looks like by how the show ended they are just the best of friends. I love their friendship. Like Kara said, their friendship has pushed her the most and like Lena said being friends with Kara has made her a better person. Those friendships are the most special and should be forever cherished.

Now here she is in the series finale after having been such a crucial character & one of the most important people in Kara’s life

This scene makes me want to cry! I don't know why but it does...so sad to see that supercorp is ending soon.
I think this is the best they could've done for the ending. I want either supercorp or Karamel to be official and was kinda upset that mon el will never be back again, but supercorp still has a canon possibility in fanfiction. The writers made sure everyone knows supercorp is not a real thing canon wise ( just like swanqueen and merarthur) but at least they were respectful of it and gave us a beautiful final scene with these two.
I think kara crying a little was the most vulnerable she's ever really been with lena. It really shows how far they have come.
Well remember, once mon el got sucked into the 31st century, his entire timeline changed. When the Legion returned in S3, they had missed their intended time target, which led to the ship being stuck underwater. He said in the final goodbyes that he would never be back in Kara’s TIMEZONE ever again. So the moment he went in the pod, everything changed. Hmm…just like Kara

@@MrsLPAmy oh I feel you there. Out of those three pairings I think supercorp was the only one I thought might actually happen. I mean we all know that kara is bi. No one gets that flustered around women ( especially when being flirted with cough ** Kate kane** couch) and not be at least attracted to them. But at least 2 out of the three got a happy ending and didn't end with one of the pair DYING! ( I will never forget how it felt watching it again. I knew and had seen the scene before I had even started the show, and yet it still destroyed me when I got through the show and to the inevitable moment.)
Anyways, I got so use to being queer baited that when She-ra came out and I instantly fell in love with catradora from the very first scenes, I kept myself at a distance and tried not to get my hopes to high up not knowing if it was just queer bait or not. AND IT PAID OFF! It wasn't queerbait! I went nuts when it was finally official!!!
Anyways, I understand the feeling of disappointment after seasons of waiting. ( and the supergirl writers knew what they were doing too. They dangled it in front of us too accurately to not have been queer baiting. At least merarthur and swanqueen weren't purposely queerbait.)
Merarthur. Now that one was real. I find it extremely hard to believe the writers and actors were so unaware of what they were putting down. The looks those two gave each other, nah nah nah.

I miss this show. I miss the characters the most. Now I know the show was not without its flaws in visual effects, storytelling, writing, etc. But the core of the character's emotions still hits in spite of that. They tapped into something special yet ordinary at the same time, hope. That was the backbone of Supergirl as a character, it only seems fitting eh?

I know this is a controversial ending. A lot of people are saying “what about Superman” (which is typical, come on just assume she got his permission first-they talk to each other plenty, just not always on screen and it’d be out of character for her not to and out of character for him not to give her what she needs for her own happiness), but for me I think it makes a lot of sense. She constantly put unreasonable pressure on herself in very harmful ways-she was always Supergirl first, Kara second. Now, she’s made her mark, there are other people who can help save the world, and so she can finally choose herself-which we saw was a struggle for her. Basically, it’s a lot like Steve Rogers’ ending in Endgame-but it actually shows the character coming to terms with their choice and what that means for them and everyone they love rather than making it offscreen, and it doesn’t rob any fantastic characters of their own agency to justify it.
There's no such thing as ASSUMING anything.
Unless it's explained clearly, it's bad writing. End of story. And if you disagree, then you're equally guilty for justifying bad writing and therefore making it spread.
The audience owes an explanation, ALWAYS. You don't always have to spell it out, but it's just unacceptable to leave things hanging and to expect the audience will just ASSUME it makes sense without you as an author MAKING it this way.
And no, explanations post factum don't count either. Every plot point, every ability must be explained in sufficient manner in the time frame of the show/movie/whatever. Explanations revealed later when the audience already started asking questions simply reveal your incompetence as an author.

this should've been their endgame scene and it breaks my heart that it wasn't. if only the writers could have seen the potential for the relationship between these two women that us supercorp fans have seen for 5 years.

Wouldn't it be strange if every character, even the ones who seemed straight up to this point, ended up in gay relationships? It's as if the need to have lesbian relationships is replacing the good, old, wholesome and realistic relationship between two women who become like sisters. Things don't need to be gay to be good.
@@sahb8091 The tricky part is that Alex and Kelly don't really have any chemistry, they made Alex gay so they didn't have to make Kara bisexual hence the over the top clarificafion in season 1 that she was not gay - when in actuality Kara is bisexual in the comics. Regardless, using one leabian couple as an excuse to not make a more powerful lesbian couple cannon is sad. Because it creates the same argument you point out: "if you already have one lesbian couple why do you need more?" , we don't hear that for heterosexual couples. All the excuses to not make them cannon after the clear subtext is just wrong, and I am not gay. I am a viewer that was a fan of comicbook Supergirl hence I was expecting a bisexual heroine. I didn't see Kara and Lena in season 2 as being romantic in any way but season 6 was like a copy of Xena Warrior Princess. You can't make an all progressive woke liberal show and shoot yourself in the foot with queerbaiting, that's what ruined the show. I was even shipping Lena with Winn to be honest but they had to do a 180, sent him to future and have Kara do all this galant things lol it was clearly romanticized, and telling the LGBTQ community is not, well that's why they get all the hate...I am sad the way they destroyed supergirl but that's just another rant for another comment :/

One thing I'm still trying to understand:
When Kara removes her glasses, she begins to sob. Lena then says it's o.k. to her. Why exactly is Kara crying again?
I think she was just overcome with emotion because it's been an emotional time and the conversation caused everything to bubble to the surface. Given what Lena was saying, that may have triggered a wave of emotion over the situations she's been struggling with which, briefly, made her cry for a moment.
I feel like it was like a goodbye for her to that side of herself. It's like the moment she realized that she has outgrown her secret identity and is finally ready for the world to really know all of her. Even though this may be a huge step forward she's still bound to be a little sad to be giving up her safety net.

Could be a number of reasons.
1. From S1 until S6, Kara had to hold her biggest burden. IE: Kara Danvers is Super Girl. Given that she's a reporter and wants to reveal the truth. So. when Lena said that Kara shines in her own way, it was a sense of release. Like a weight off her shoulders.
2. Being that Lena was super close to her, Lena having Kara's support was a helping hand. Unlike Alex, Lena's a close friend and I believe Kara had once said that she has a sister but not best friends. As in "almost sisterly" friends. (James and Winn are more like casual friends). Almost a Supercorp relationship, (Which it should be included).
Her glasses (canonically) not only suppress her powers to some extent, but create psychological and emotional barriers as well so she wouldn't have been overwhelmed by what she was experiencing growing up. So when she took them off, it was like the literal floodgates being opened.
The real lesson is to always be yourself

To be honest Cat Grant was Kara's Mentor with Lena Second Cat knew who Kara was honestly and help her grow into a more honest confident person I only help she didn't face Powergirl her last season and Brainiac 5 and go into the future with Mon El

As long as the person is not hurting anyone else and if they are, call them out for that behaviour, not for their interpretation of fictional characters' dynamics and who they ship. Art is an interactional experience. It is not just to be consumed as the writers hand it down. For years, plays, symphonies, and several other art forms have been interpreted and reinterpreted because how people relate to it is as individual as the people themselves and the world is more varied and better for it. Does it hurt you that people interpret the dynamic between these two (fictional) characters as potentially romantic? That you would get so "passionate" about the shipping of (again, fictional) characters by people who I presume you have nothing to do with says more about you than them.

I will say for a show that fell into some really boring heavy-handed stuff, general loss of budget, and cast members leaving (and the loss of Cat Grant full time from S1 was a loss to the entire show), it definitely pulled off a very good ending. Including the bonds with Lena Luthor, who grew a lot from basically drinking and crying after any negative press in S2 to whom she became now. I only hope that after the mess that was the "super shredder reverse flash" from "The Flash" CW show that it's final season will pull out something worthy for a final season/finale. Honestly they should've just NEVER made "Gotham Knights-nothing like the game tv show" and spent that money on a final crossover event, wrapping up the canceled shows as well as one more time for arrow+supergirl.
So far the flash final season has been disappointing. To my knowledge Melissa declined an episode on the Flash. She felt that to come back meant they would have to address her coming out as Supergirl and she liked where things were left.
One caveat with this episode is from this point in the episode on things move way to quick and they more or less gloss over things that would give more weight behind her actions like even a 30-second clip from her interview with Cat on her reason for outing herself. Or maybe even a few reactions from the people on finding out her identity, instead they rushed through this last bit and it shows and throws off the pacing for the rest of the episode in my opinion.

Lena couldn't blame Kara for crying in front of her. But Lena should've told Kara that if she decides to reveal to the world that she's Supergirl, she would be putting her family and friends in danger that way. Even a Supergirl can't serve humanity 24 hours a day and neither can her cousin, Superman.

I'm so glad the writers didn't give in and make supercorp happen.
90% of the shippers were either toxic or cried because they were getting queerbaited when it was clear that they were friends and none of the scenes were as romantic as they were claiming because they think that girls can't be this close without feelings being involved.
Sure they can be that close without feelings but in their scenes there was a romantic undertone and queerbaiting is an insult to the lgbtq+ community and can be considered very microagressive
