i was on episode 9, i decided to read the manhwa. i read it. the ending made me hate even the anime that is incomplete 😳. stg its shame for that good story to end like that
Wow we got some haters! For me, Solo Leveling is pacing good. We need the world building and some characters. Made a good point about Shonen anime, it’s for the young male audience, so anyone adult talking smack can’t have valid arguments?😂
I loved both manwha and light novel but the anime is like 3/10 i cant describe it but the vibe of jin woo and his character feels soo different and i just cant get into the story at all i dont think its me issue but just that it sucks
Its decent but i wouldn't say its top teir. It suffers from being the first like so many other tropes like iseka like shield hero it was seen as next level but dozens of copies came out with similar plots and you ended up having superior series which leaves the original in a weird state where its not bad but its not next level.

Solo Leveling anime is received very poorly in Japan, most people consider this show a boring clone of SAO filled with overused tropes prevalent in Shōnen genre, while not having any praiseworthy uniqueness that makes it stand out above its competitors. To think that this show is any good is really only a westerners' phenomenon, perhaps it's due to how unselective the western audience is to the quality of the plot they're consuming, people are willing to gobble up all sorts of garbage and praise it as gourmet, as long as the material is widely marketed to be perceived to be popular.
Solo leveling isn't ANY level of bad imo. People don't realize how hard it would be to make an anime with the art quality of a STILL IMAGE. And they still managed to somehow do some scenes better than manhwa. Like the episode 6 slaughter scene was without a doubt better than the manhwa version and I'm saying that as a LN and Manhwa reader. The voice actor for Jinwoo is doing a GODLY job for his first main role. And the animation's above average (Btw JJK and Demon Slayer isn't the average for animation like some people have started to think cuz they've been spoiled rotten by some of the best the industry has to offer) and the compositing's even on the level of some of the greats It's often hard to tell that the pacing is almost the same between the manhwa and the anime since one's read, and you can just scroll at your own pace and the other's watched, which ofc means you prob don't fast forward through the whole thing.
TLDR; You are BIASED my friend. Enjoying the manhwa and LN is making you blind to the very evident issues the anime has. But that's alright. In the end what's important is to enjoy what you enjoy.

Hm, I suppose I interpret what you said a bit differently than you. For me "isn't any level of bad" would imply that it's perfect and has no problems. I guess this is not what you meant. Just to clarify I also don't think it's bad per se. I just think it's way overhyped and I stand on the other side of the fence, as a non-biased individual, never having read it in any shape or form. I like to point out the problems I see with it because for every 10 people saying how it's perfect and the best I think there should be one 1 person who can provide an unbiased opinion. So I think it's decent so far, but from what we've seen, it's most definitely not the second coming of Jesus nor anything particularly amazing. We'll see how it goes down further. PS: I also notice that many people are willing to evaluate the current episodes based on what they know is coming. Which imo is not a good way of evaluating things. Just because the show may become 10/10 in the future, does not equate to it being 10/10 now. @@AStixMatism

If I read a review I want to know about the plot, the characters, if the animation is good or not etc. (spoiler free if possible). Which that person failed to do.
So for me, I was not too fond of Jin Woo's sudden change in character... where first 4 episodes/ few chapters (before the glow-up) he seemed like a much better character than kirito 2.0 after his awakening... essentially all of his struggles were done offscreen before the show even began... after the first few dungeons, the struggle pretty much stop and I knew he would always win so the tension was gone early on.. the last time I thought he might lose was fighting Igris and the way he beat him was cool not just overpowering... that issue alone made it seem like a run of the mill Isekai which there's dozen that are done better... the only thing it does well is the world building which is the main reason I even read the whole thing... the hype moments are fine just that since Jin Woo is such "edge lord" character you don't even feel a real connection other than it was drawn so well! so it looks cool asf
Biggest issue with Solo Leveling is the pacing. It's a fucking disaster. The show somehow feels rushed and extremely slow at the same time. Also definitely the lack of substance is the other big one. So far we are almost at the end of a whole ass season and there's pretty much no actual story. I also really dislike their approach of making one episode some hype fight and the next one kind of empty? It's very irregular and I never personally liked this kind of pace. Those are the main things. I wouldn't outright say it's bad, it looks promising to me, but it sure as hell is nowhere near as good as the hype it received at least for now.
