From another review I watched I believe you can lift the bottom of the rear seats up and fold them forwards into the footwell so the back seats can be folded down flatter. Also, when the base is lifted up you can fold the seat belt buckles down under them so that protruding one from the middle can be put away if you have no need for it. This was a UK version though, not sure what differences there might be.
Got a 2020 Phev ES & absolutely love it. Had a 2014 model for 4 years & regretted selling it. This new 2020 model is way better & much better than a Rav4 in my opinion mainly thanks to the 55km EV range & adjustable regenerative braking using the paddles.
Maybe a copy of the tailgate from the former version (2014) of the Lexus rx450h, that we got? Same slow opening that you have to start lifting yourself. Bad.

🤦 Outlander PHEV does not have CVT
That, I've found, is one of the real virtues of this vehicle: no gearchanges, no gearbox noise - really smooth and quiet in electric mode.
