@@catkeys6911 Thank you. I honestly wasn't looking at the camera at all after zooming in to crop the heads there, and trying my best to hold it steady while watching my hero with a facial expression of something in between a stupid grin and an orgasm face 🤣 I suppose that's what happened with the record button. Glad it did not happen earlier and only the last bar or two right before the crescendo ending was cut.
He is my favorite drummer of all-time hands down! Then Aaron RIP n tony royster Carter B n buddy rich Vinnie n Eric Moore too but this guy right here!!!! Helped change my life n understanding on dat set💯💯💯💯 phenomenal job my guy n body of work💯❤️👑🙏💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I remember when Dave arrived in the early nineties on my radar, I heard people, drummers, good drummers, ones I respected say that Dave was too much too busy too technical and I can understand now the subconscious envy one might feel toward such a tremendous talent but what has made him head and shoulders above so many great players is his work ethic, his musicality even towards his instrument, - micing and mixing his own kit which is tuned to perfection as well as the super chops and experimentation that seems to consistently evolve. What a treasure of music he must have in his head and what a treasure he is to have around at this time time. All the blessings, Dave, from us all. TY Tolga for the upload.
As always,Dave is most succesfull in combining skill and technique with musicality, like no one else does. After so many years,he never stops amazing us.Nice angle,by the way.❤
I was sitting at this angle when I first saw DW with Chick Corea in 1983_ish. Never heard of him then, but just remember being awestruck. Like the way I am right now, 40 years later. :)
Wow, thanks for that. Ive seen him many times, and have been as close like you are here. But for some reason you got the perfect angle. I can see his hands so well, and you can really see how effortless it is for him. I have been listening to him for 43 years, and it still amazes me every time I see/hear him play.
Look, as a drummer who's been playing live shows for decades, I'm asking musicians watching this to focus on the first minute of the video. Dave comes in ON TOP of the beat, and stays there. That's not easy at all, even if he's played the same recorded MP3 in front of a crowd half-a-dozen times. Regularly-gigging musicians should understand what I'm driving at. This performance is MASTERFUL. Yes, it's Dave Weckl, and he's masterful, but that doesn't give us musician RUclips browsers liscense to ignore what's really happening in this clip. Practice can turn someone who plays club gigs into a studio master - someone who can bring the studio onto the stage. .. and also know when the clinical needs to evolve into something that brings a crowd to its feet. This one clip is *so* Dave Weckl that I'll be studying it for years. Thanks for posting it
Indeed. I think a lot of non-drummers (and drummers) don't truly appreciate how much precise coordination, listening and automated movement ability, it takes to play at this level. I think it's because him and Vinnie make it look so easy...even being 60+ years in age :-)
The GOAT himself. Saw him with the late great Chick C. and the electric band 30-ish years ago. Sometimes you get see and hear something really extraordinary you'll remember for the rest of your life. That show was one of them, we were blown away and still talk about it !
What an amazing evening, this masterclass was truly special and the first time we were able to host Weckl!! Thank you for coming and capturing this! Hope to see you again soon! ❤🔥
Yea I went to Dave’s Clinic, I think it was the 8th or 9th & got to meet him flawless grooving & one of the best clinics I have been the master working with traditional grip 💯🎼🥁😍✌️
Has he changed his signature stick(s)? I had some of his signature sticks many agos which were a dark brown/red in color…thanks..saw him live in Rochester NY 1994. House of Guitars .
Hi there. No. This as the finale and part of the open solo/warmup in the beginning. There was one other piece halfway through that I think he said was written by Jay Oliver which was another killer performance but I did selfishly enjoyed it myself and not recorded it. Sorry but not sorry. 😁
Hola.
He is simply awesome. There must be a market for music like this though, basically exciting-sounding twiddly nonsense, written merely as a vehicle to excite people at drum clinics, complete with lots of accents and stabs that really make no musical sense. It makes me laugh, because I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually listens to stuff like this outside of drum clinics. 😂
Right, the video should be about your world renowned playing. Oh wait, that doesn't exist beyond your wishful thinking and snarky comments. Next you'll be commenting on how Jordan didn't know how to dunk and, or Pele also didn't pass the ball enough.
It seems like an accidental push of a button ruined the ending by cutting the song short a couple of seconds and I apologise for the mishap. 😭
Ah, it's ok, man- it's a nice, clean recording; nice, steady camera work, so, no biggie.

Bro drums like a fine wine, its so rich..one of my favorite drummers
I came here to say the same thing, but I'm thinking Johnny Walker Blue Label. Aged to perfection.
Great swing balance merging with skilled chops... A round of applause to Dave.

I love it!!
Dave is everything you could ever want in a jazz/fusion drummer. Just awesome.
More a Latin player than Jazz Rock Fusion.
Numero 1... mostruoso 😅😅
What a monster!
Glórias à Deus!!! Fantástico, Dave...the best!
The king of all!!

If this guy would just keep practicing, he could become well known someday. 😉😁 Flawless, as always.
Yea I went to Dave’s Clinic, I think it was the 8th or 9th & got to meet him flawless grooving & one of the best clinics I have been the master working with traditional grip 💯🎼🥁😍✌️

Saw him at a drum clinic in Modesto CA around 2000.
Brilliant.
THE GOAL
Jedi Master
The number 1
Wuuuuhuuuuu, killer!
Man amazing!!!
Drumming has progressed so much even since Dave’s era, but the way he plays never sounds old school. It’s always fresh, clean, clear and the intense!
@williamperri3437 true but that’s just a young buck thing. Most drummers that love music grow out of that and settle into their own sound eventually.
Has he changed his signature stick(s)? I had some of his signature sticks many agos which were a dark brown/red in color…thanks..saw him live in Rochester NY 1994. House of Guitars
.
Thanks for the comment. And the click
Yeah!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Wecyl is the top of the elite in drumming. I helped him set up at a clinic in the 90s a few times.
Whoa that one of the most impressive drummer performances I've ever .
El más grande
So relax !!!
🐐🐐🐐🔥🔥
Wow.
One thing you can say about the drums --- he didn't let variety get in the way.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
As good as it gets.
Que bestia...
Sehr inspirierend
In a league of his own..
No one plays tumbao like Dave. He gives it way far better color and flavor
Wave Deckl!
Hi, have no more recording from this concert/workshop?

Hola.
Saludos

This was amazing! In the top 10 players overall. Nothing this guy can’t do.
@@TolgaPala si si.
Jajajaja Gracias por la información, muy valiosa.
World Reference 🥁
this groove is insanely hard to play and Dave does it from muscle memory
Read your rudiments kids. This is how it's done!
He is simply awesome.

DW is an E.T !!!!!!
Monster with human face..
All chops (that are great), but no soul in his playing
Dave is Great But He Should STOP Playing That Stupid Latin Groove ( Songo) Hes Doesn't Have a Clue About Cuban Grooves... SILLY..
