The main thing that concerns me about Ebro, is the fact that he is on a radio station that plays and interviews musical "artists", which I'm sure at one point had to be his goal in life and had a real passion for it. The main thing that concerns me about Ebro, is the fact that he is on a radio station that plays and interviews musical "artists", which I'm sure at one point had to be his goal in life and had a real passion for it. Yet, he labels "artists" and judges "artists" not through their actual artistic abilities, merit and passion for their art, but from the way they present themselves, the way they dress and the colour of their skin. Anything BUT the art itself.
I imagine him going to an art convention, completely skipping past every single painting on the walls and not even glancing once, then walking up to the artist and saying "...now I don't know your skill set as an artist, but the way you dress is indick... indick... indicative of a .... basically the way you dress is what you chose to represent an idea, so the idea you're representing to me is you're from the ghetto, with a background in selling crack and pimping out girls..".
Also, "hyper-sensitive to stereotypical black imagery"... Because I'm sure its all in the rage in the hood to be dressed in neon with a zig-zag chinstrap.

One of the problems with Hip-Hop is the obsession with how "real" someone is.

It looked like he was caught and didn't know how to make it convincible. Every artist answers these questions so that the public and the fan base knows more and gets connected.

Hmm, interesting. At 04:38, Ebro claims that he doesn't respect the way Riff Raff uses his tattoos as his primary means of gaining street cred. And yet at 2:50 or so, Ebro led him on, asking if he's real or if it's a "costume" he's wearing. By asking this, it invites Riff Raff to clarify that he's for real and not wearing a costume. It's not his problem if Ebro misinterprets the meaning of his doing so.

I understand Ebro's motives, but I think that he's trapped in an old fashioned way of thinking - that only people who comes from a certain background can dress in a certain way. I also think that he's unintentionally pandering towards racism - that only black or coloured people can come from that certain background and therefore dress and act that way. So when a white person feels like expressing himself in that way, wheather he's coming from that background or not, Ebro gets confused because it deviates from the norms that he grew up with.
I personally consider them both intelligent people though.
