Funny, I worked with people who were from Alaska, WERE posted in Alaska and one who was from AND had a permanent duty post there but was on TDY with us. Every one of them said they thought it was the best posting assignment ever, the ones who lived there said they're never moving and get to travel to other states for training/some sightseeing and that's good enough. One friend from there said I'm the kind of person Alaskans LIKE moving there, so I always felt a bit honored with that considering he knew I was originally from california. I'm not in AK, but never went back to california. Yeah everyone said being outdoors there is almost intoxicating, I believe it.
That’s exactly what I did. I just finished airborne school and I’m going to JBER haha. You should be able to take oconus leave after you graduate jump school.
What other tips do YOU have for people PCSing to AK? Post them below!
I read on the Wainwright information page that you are able to store firearms on post housing as long it’s kept in a locked safe
I will be going to Alaska for my first duty station. Will also be taking Airborne here. Excited!
It’ll be an adventure!
i am going to the other base as my first!!
Which base are you at cause I think I’m going to ft Richardson
Looks like i may be doing the same. How do you like it?
Also point on for anyone wanting to move to Alaska. Always enjoy, thank you Jamin.
Thank you sir!
Just got my orders to Jber and will be moving there in March/April time. Super excited.
That’s awesome! Make sure to hop on the livestream next Thursday. I’ll be answering questions as they come in.
You are going to love it. A good restaurant to go to for dinner would be Moose’s tooth.
Still snow so enjoy
Hope one day I could travel to Alaska, meanwhile I learn from your videos! 👍🏽
Thank you and you should! :)

Toys and husky advice is on point!
Thank you! In their defense, I have definitely made the toy mistake a time or two myself lol
@@alaska_realtor Try the toys out in the store, find what fits you from skis to snow machines.. then check the secondary markets! Them toys tho!
@@karmicneurot9829 Spoken like a seasoned vet of the AK toys market! lol
Going to fort richardson Alaska august 19th for infantry and hopefully airborne even though i couldn't get it in my contract because i had a waiver
Buy the best mosquito repellent you can find. The stuff they issued me was akin to BBQ sauce to the little monsters.
Any idea on what firearm storage is like?
Pack very light. Smart. 🙂
Wow you even do army stuff????? be there in a couple weeks ✌️
Shipped items all over the world with no issues. What makes Alaska different?
Good points.
Thank you! Do you have any you would add?
What of those who have vehicles? Do you recommend to sell them or bring them?
It really depends on the vehicle, but most people will drive them up and accept that they're going to be a bit beaten up when they get here
I am currently in AIT. I’m leaving for Airborne in a few days. I will be going to JBER. Will I get leave after Georgia before I go to Alaska?
That’s exactly what I did. I just finished airborne school and I’m going to JBER haha. You should be able to take oconus leave after you graduate jump school.
How is it cause I graduate in a month and have airborne right after
Fact: if youre bored its cuz you're a boring person. "Please amuse me!" cried the child.
Why wouldn't you buy new fishing equipment. or hunting equipment. That makes no sense
