Exacrly. During the entire press circuit for Ruiz Vs Joshua 2, they were so amicable and respectful towards each other. Joshua never missed an opportunity to give Ruiz props for what he accomplished in their first fight, and Ruiz openly talked about needing to prepare better because he knew Joshua was gonna come prepared and bring his A-Game.
Then you look at Joshua V Whyte and they're both slagging each other off, threatening each other and shit.
As you say, give Joshua is respectful and sportsmanlike until the other guy takes it somewhere else.

Oh dear 🤣 having actually met AJ, let me tell you. He is honestly one of the loveliest people you will meet. he trains near me and I've been a couple of times and happened upon him. Was open for a chat. I mentioned it was my birthday the next day (he of course wished me a happy birthday as is polite) but what I didn't expect was to see him again two months later. He not only asked how my birthday was but gave me some signed gloves, saying he thought I would see him sooner. (He had initially left them with the lady at the reception desk in case I got back - I went on holiday and got injured preventing me from training for that time, we went up together to grab them talking about life and stuff) Genuinely such a charming and thoughtful guy. He is also very clearly an intelligent man, very much a thinker

My personal opinion is there is no way he couldnt have a "persona". Where there is ego there is insincerity... And competitive sport has a hell of a lot of ego.
Most of this video is easily put down to blood being up in competitive situations. All except how he treated the reporter in the ring. That was obviously posturing intimidation and bullying, someone he new he could treat that way with little to no threat of reprisal or resistance.
