I followed his whole career. Being a Tennessee football fan I saw his brothers Casey and Rick. Jimmy was a top national recruit and everyone said he was better than his brothers. Both were SEC starting QBs. Casey for years. Casey was solid at Notre Dame but it was pretty clear he was no starting QB in the NFL. And was definitely not going anywhere being thrown out there his rookie season by the worst team in the league. He could’ve been a solid back up for years. But after his 2010 rookie season his confidence was destroyed.

Many factors contributed to Jimmy Clausen’s demise, one being knowing that it was on him to have the ultimate success with his brothers not reaching their full potential. Another being the team was a bad fit Notre Dame went through some tumultuous times under Charlie Weis and that might not have been the best fit for him hindsight being 20/20
In 2005 ESPN had a segment where they called him the Lebron of football. This was before Hudl, RUclips and social media were popular so to have ESPN do a feature like that was a very big deal back then. They must have burned/deleted that segment forever because all these years later I cannot find it anywhere.
God, he was so bad. Such an arrogant person too. He definitely didn't help the situation, after the first couple seasons it went off the rails really quickly 😂

Clausen played for Oaks Christian HS in Westlake Village, CA. Private school. Very expensive. Lots of celebrities/athletes kids have gone there.

Weis not knowing defense also killed Clausen. As a fan, it was hard to watch them not be able to tackle anyone.
