    If those clips are the same as the ones I've worked with, you're not meant to punch the middle all the way out, you just poke it in slightly to release the clip, then once the whole clip is out you push the pin back out again. The middle pin has 3 positions, sticking out for inserting the clip, pushed in for removing it, and flush when it's installed.

    The newspaper says something about "immunity" in English pronunciation (Katakana) which leads me to believe that the article is about an American soldier stationed in Japan committing a crime and having certain immunities most likely from being tried in Japanese court.
    Or It could be more recent. There was a law (Code of Criminal Procedure) ammended in 2016 that has to do with "criminal immunity."

    To make the stereo more stealth, you should have used the original factory plate and knobs to create a dummy front, so it looks like the old stereo is still installed.

    • @Mr_Velocity1577
      @Mr_Velocity1577 6 лет назад +5

      Germaingazm the mini was a complete custom front end and technically a lot harder to make work. It even got stolen at one point and they are lucky to have found it. The 240z is nostalgic in its origin but I think B is got Build has the better 240z project. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a BMW V10 power plant and drive train and a 240z shell. It’s all on a custom frame.

    Hey guys,
    First off I love the show what you guys are doing is absolutely incredible. One thing though that you need to take into consideration is your intro video for next season. There are some key players that without them the status of your show could not have been elevated to the position it is at now. i.e Turbo Yoda, Mechanical Stix and many others, perhaps it's time to show their faces in your intro for next season and give them the recognition they deserve for all their hard work on MCM. I love everything you guys do but some of the knowledge they give away on this channel, people spend years searching for and learning through schooling ans self taught mistakes, and I feel that deserves recognition in more forms then just a shout out. I may just be a dumb drunk Canadian rambling but I feel it's worth considering. Besides that thank you so much for the amazing content you provide. Cheers guys.

I like to use a pick and push lightly into the center pin, it will index in slightly, about 3mm. At that point you can remove it as an assembly. I have grown to like them. This is a beautiful car, loved these since i played the original need for speed many years ago. One thing you guys NEED to do, as its so beautiful and rare is fit some anti theft devices and a tracker. Some of these old cars are VERY easy to break into and im assuming that you guys have scummy people over that side of the world too. Dont over look this. I remember in my teens i had some unsavoury mates and one of them showed me how you can open the door of an early 90's ford escort using its own windscreen wipers! Anyway keep up the good vids guys, you really are the most entertaining car modders on the tube.

      high class show cars have been stolen in the past and never heard from.
      A highly customised van from the van wheels day was found rusting on a rural property recently after being stolen.
      some may have been legit, maybe some insurance jobs.

      Some times I think they don't understand there are viewers who don't use FaceBook and therefore have no idea what Marty is doing as 'The Skid Factory' seem to provide more content than MCM now!?!?
      I feel the channel peaked at 'Lend us a ride'.
      The Focus RS is not a car for the people that started watching the channel. [ Here, watch us screw in 10 screws into a 'factory' part you couldn't buy by selling our first car!!! ]

      Philip Rowney Pretty sure you can't compare videos that have been out months to ones from last week for viewing figures. The videos from last week could easily gain the same number of views by the time they reach the age of the older ones. It has been a long old project!
      I'd like to think I speak for MCM fans everywhere when I say that we're along for the ride and that I hope that MCM does continue to change and grow, challenging themselves however they see fit. After all, they've given us 10 years of content for free which is bonkers. The last video mentioned Marty is working on 2sexy. I honestly think the channel is in the strongest place it's ever been and I can't think of two cars that exemplify MCM more than the Mira and the 240Z.
      I hope the evolution of this channel continues! 😀

      Carl Wells I figured it wouldn’t take long for you guys to be on it :) I too hate modern head units in old cars. in my 74bmw 2002 I did a stealth BT setup, and in the ash-tray I mounted a spring-loaded lightning plug for my iPhone. I’ve got the original radio in there (single speaker and sounds like nostalgic crap) but pull the ash-tray out and the plug pops up. Plug in your phone and you’ve got an on-the-dash navigation/Spotify control screen. I’ve got a flat sub in the trunk, and little in the Cabin hints there’s a high-end Focal audio setup lurking in the car.

    I've been around these cars since they were new. The roll cage will indeed make a huge difference in chassis stiffness but even that can be improved by adding a tabs at the top of the bar and bolting it to the upper seat belt anchor points. Also a front stress bar is pretty much essential. I took that a step further with a lower stress bar connected at the frame rails where the compression rods attach to the frame. Makes a huge difference.

    • @JamesMossR33
      @JamesMossR33 6 лет назад +3

      I really thought the original faceplate was going to be stuck on Miles' new flap, with the original knobs too (but maybe then it wouldn't lift up enough)

    • @406Steven
      @406Steven 6 лет назад

      I was expecting that they would find some head unit that would match up with a similar knob position and without the tacky disco lighting that would blend in like a factory radio. I doubt there's any company making retro radios for these, but my Dad has a '66 Mustang with a radio that looks period-correct but has aux, bluetooth, USB, etc. but still looks just like a factory '60s radio. Perhaps a similar unit could be modified to work? I think it would get really old having to flip that lid up (and hold it up) each time you wanted to adjust something on the radio.

    @8:04, I love those clips. If you just depress the center pin (usually about 3-4mm) instead of pushing it all the way through, it allows the whole thing to be removed while retaining the center. This is, of course, assuming they're the same type of retainer pins used all over my Japanese sport bikes and Toyota SUV.

    As much as chicken and food is good and stuff, I would like to have seen you guys buy a plot of land out somewhere where land is cheap large enough for a skid pad, track, strip and a shop. Hire yoda and any of your mates that want to come along. Do some really cool builds, dyno tuning, meet ups, car shows drift and race events (depending on size and whatnot of your land/ plans). You are in a singular situation where you are popular enough to bring the car community to you. Between doing builds, having meet ups (ice cream stand) drift events, autocross events and opening every door something like this would allow you you guys could really do a solid for the car scene in your area and make a tremendous amount of money (or non profit, charity etc) Ill move to AUS and run it for yall. Build a Ebisu in your backyard!

    The clips you’re referring too are meant too have two stages of release, if you ease into the Center of it, it should “click” into position allowing you to remove the clip and the pin as one unit. If you push to hard and all the way through it will fly off.

    Man I miss the days of installing car stereos.
    My first install was my 98 lancer.. ran all new wiring to all 4 doors with alpine R splits all run from the AMP in the boot with 2x alpine 12" type r's off a 1000w rms mono block.
    Second install was my 1992 twin turbo manual soarer.. that was NOT fun at all, the interior was so flush removing the back seats was a nightmare.
    Ripped it all from the lancer and put it in.
    Next install was my mates Mazda 3... that's was easy as.. 5.1 with front center of an 8" DVD player.
    After the 3rd car you can do it in a day.. My final install was my 2008 CJ lancer. Miss those days.
    Now there is nothing in my boot except a pram and broken dreams.

    Putting a new engine in doesnt ruin the purity you can change the engine 100x and itll still be fine. But you cant cut up the door cards 100 times and still use them. The difference for me is just not being able to use the car in the future because it gets cut up so much.

    • @ImBarryScottCSS
      @ImBarryScottCSS 6 лет назад +3

      beshjs Did you watch the engine swap? The cut/bashed/removed plenty of things that you can't do 100X. It's a fucking door card bro.

      @beshjs408 6 лет назад +1

      _________ I know I'm a mechanic, but when there's a certain amount of these classics around you don't go full Frankenstein on them. After you weld up the body panel, trying to sell the car on is a nightmare and so it gets crushed, leaving one less on the road. I mean look at England and the amount of minis that get scrapped every year because of rusting sills... Restoring the metalwork is a huge job. Changed over an engine is a piece of piss in comparison

    Drill a tiny hole in the center peg (not required, just makes rest easier), get a small screw with course threads and insert it a few threads deep into the peg, and carefully yank out the peg. That's the nicest way to reuse those dumb pegs. Can also try prying it out using a flat bladed jewelers screwdriver.

    On my '73 Plymouth Duster I mounted the front speakers in the kick panels. I didn't want to run wiring into the doors or have to cut the door panels, or make the new speakers visible when the doors opened. It had an AM radio and 1 dash speaker when I bought the car. In 1993 I bought a cassette deck that fit the factory radio hole and put an aux. 6 CD changer in the trunk. I also mounted a pair of 6x9's in the rear shelf and hid them under guitar amp grillcloth.
