Great video, as always, Steven. On the NEO for full acro, I changed the Max Rates to 830 for Roll / Pitch, and 400 for the Yaw, and left all other stock values unchanged. Now, it loops and rolls a lot better. It's really so fun flying.

The FPV performance is not great, but it wouldn't make much sense regardless. You would be spending 700-1.000€ in Ocusync 4 FPV gear into a 200€ drone. Yeah, just get the Avata 2.. They are both designed for first time drone pilots, so the odds that you will have any issues (using common sense not to fly into objects) all will be successful.

I encountered the same thing with the Neo on low battery, I was at 14% and it did not have the power to get back, luckily I’m still testing its limitations around my house. It also does not like to fly in low light, ie: dusk. All in all I do like the Neo.

Hello, well done and thanks for the info! Now that DJI announced the Goggles N3, I'm very tempted to get these and fly in FPV. It's going to cost more to purchase the Goggles and Motion 3 or Manual controller than the bundle! Which controller would you suggest to pair with the Goggles? Flying with higher speed is better in FPV.
You only have one choice of brand controller because this is a DJI product. I listed the compatible DJI Controllers under the first NEO video I made… I’m not sure if I did it under this one. They are all listed on the DJI website. When you fly FPV with FPV Goggles then your choices become limited to the DJI FPV REMOTE 3 (because the controller must connect to the goggles and not the drone).
Intriguing review! The Neo sounds like a fun little drone, especially for beginners with the motion controller. But the trade-off for flying in manual mode seems significant. Would you recommend this to someone just getting started with FPV, or should they stick with a different option?
Bro imagine the 04 lite has a neo camera and small vtx we can put in whoops and toothpicks, that would be a game changer, I have a feeling they are gonna try to go after that market as it's becoming super popular

Question and comment - Q - at any 30FPS camera mode do you notice Jerkyness in YAW in the Googles 3 View ? // C - the NEO is actually pretty capable in manual mode in the right hands - a few vids on YT with other (accomplished) FPV pilots doing well with it - anyways - always enjoy your vids and your video production is second to none - keep on posting - thanks
I have not noticed any jerkiness when filming in any of the video resolutions. What I showed in my goggles in this vid is the only movement one sees, compared to what the camera records. Ref your MANUAL MODE comment, think of it this way.... say I drone F1 Cars for a living and then I drone a HYUNDAI ACCENT SPORT... do you think I would notice a difference? And perhaps do you think I would say, as far as a race car goes, it's kinda weak. So, I have been flying drones for a living since 2013 and FPV drones since 2017 and I review plenty of FPV drones per year, so I'm very familiar in that realm as to how such drones should handle. When I fly something that is poor, then it is easily noticeable, and the NEO is your HYUNDAI ACCENT SPORT (in the FPV World) compared to an F1 (in the FPV World).
The tricks are the same as you get on $50 toy drones. All drones can do them using the same inputs because they are tuned for them. In manual mode the pilot is doing the tricks with different parameters & the drone is not tuned to accept the pilots input and just flops around.
Hi, great video! I've been looking at the Neo for some time. I've got a mini 3 pro and was looking for something to try out FPV but I haven't got a huge budget and don't want to go in at the deep end straight away. With the N3 goggles out in a reasonably priced kit would you recommend this for beginner FPV or am I likely to outgrow it quickly? With the motion controller it looks like a lot of fun!
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks! I'll have a look, like you said, the motion controller looks like the most fun way to have a go with the neo and that's how the N3 kit is set up. Keep up the good work! 👍
Captain… I have a Tello and a DJI Spark. Should I get the Neo to replace those two? I just use it for small family events, personal use. The Neo image quality just seems kind of low on these reviews. I know the Tello and Spark are lower, but I’m trying to decide of the Neo will be OK or I should get a higher image quality drone. What are your thoughts on the Neo image quality.
Great review. I see that in this video the motion controller and Goggles3 shows Normal mode. Are Sport/Manual/or other modes available when using motion controller ? Thanks.
Very intuitive video as always 👌👌 I've got a question... I ride Icelandic horses, sometimes even at competitions, which means riding the horse on a oval track, and if recording videos when riding, I'll usually need someone who can stand within the center of the oval with a camcorder or smartphone that has a decent enough camera to record fast moving objects. But what if I wanted to use a drone to record, and at the same time don't want to break the bank with something's that costs thousands of dollars, what drone would you recommend to buy? Preferably something that can record in full HD or even 4K. Is the new DJI mini 4K capable of being positioned "sideways" and then do a follow me recording? Or are there perhaps other "cheap" drones that can do the job? Best regards, and keep up the good job with all the videos/reviews it's great inspiration 🙏
You'd need the DJI MINI 4 PRO (not the cheap mini 4K). The reason you need the PRO is because the tracking is incredible (it won't lose you) and it can track from front, side, back (your choice), and it has obstacle avoidance to dodge anything while tracking from front or back (not so much the side tracking).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Cool Thanks for the info. I enjoy watching your reviews. I've been flying FPV for 15 years but just recently got into the sub250 quads. Great showcase on the different controllers for fpv but i have one question how does it flip so well with the "easy" acro but not when you were in full manual ? is that down to pilot skill or the rates settings ? as it clearly flipped pretty well while in the easy acro mode ? either way cool video !
You can buy a $30 drone (many that I have reviewed) that do the same flips as the DJI drone. This is because it is automatic and at the limits of the drone. In manual mode you need a high end flight controller and super powerful motors. The NEO does not have this so no mater what the tuning is it just can’t react to an FPV Pilots inputs, thus it becomes a sloppy FPV Drone in manual mode.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 (update) i got my daughter one and managed to flip and roll even dive, maybe because i use higher rates... i've uploaded a short its still not amazing but alot better than i expected after watching this considering its not made for acro 😂 was actually pretty fun, its not very good at anything but can do everything neo seems to be a jack of all trades master of none haha
Hi, another great insight to the new DJI neo.i have the avatar 1 and have now purchased this ,I'm hoping they might allow for a software update to use the old goggles 2 and controller 🤞 as there no way I'm forking out for the 3 version as well lol.ps I hope you enjoyed your break 😊
Nice simplified video for befinners to be sure, however for FPV you dont get into the rates adjustments to solve for what you say is a "terrible" fpv drone response..I also noted your camera angle was only 15 degrees. I have watched many of your videos and almost without fail every video of drone products during demonstration flights you always call yourself a fpv pilot and understandably caution befinners, however it would be nice, as you are a fpv pilot, to demonstrate freestyle or cinematic FPV or simply a RIP (without crashing into anything LOL). And yes, there are many videos doing the rounds where the NEO performs surprisingly well in FPV, granted it is not as powerful as a true racing quad or 5 inch quad, and if someone has a Avata 2 with the kit, and we have flown sport and normal etc. and want to get into manual mode without risking a lot of money, the NEO makes sense to learn with...maybe a point you might want to consider in a review.
Many thanks for sharing Captain; I have had the Neo (Drone only) for just over a week; initial thoughts?; amazing tech regards using without any Phone / Controller; not so amazing; Fly App very limited particularly with no RTH / Safety function; Video quality...........hmmmm 4K? I dont think so !!!; my original Spark looks better!; regardless, I am sure there will be updates to a number of aspects and have ordered a DJI RCN 3 to hopefully get more options with the settings...............
Unfortunately the only people who ever say that only fly DJI drones and have not been in the FPV Drone hobby for very long. The rest of us have tried it... it is like putting lipstick on a pig. When you start with an unresponsive flight controller, you just get turn it into gold. You won't ever find any RUclips vids of a PROP FPV PILOT adjusting the rates and then telling everyone "this drone is amazing now and better then other FPV Drones!"
just this thing existing will likely do a number on the "knockoff" competitors drones prices. it's surprisingly cheap for what it is and doesnt have horrible footage fwiw
Why would easy acro work so well with mc3 but you struggled with the same moves in manual? You didn't outright say it, but i think the assumption when you reviewed it in manual was that it just can't do those things, when in actuality it can...
Captain. put a bug in DJI's ear... I think if DJI would come out with a Drone Sim for the PC... it would sell big time. especially with winter coming up... On the other hand, I live in ARIZONA... three months out of the year it's too freekin' HOT to fly outside. except early, early mornings...!! Now they have FPV drones on the market.... Geo fencing is a pain in the rear, but it is usually there for a good reason. Buttt i have a geofencing spot near my house that is interesting. I live close to a small runway. Usually just small planes. Soooo i fly in a park that is about 8 to 10 miles away from my house. I found out the hard way that half of the park is actually in the same geozone as near my house. I looked at a geofencing map and the blue zone fans out and just clips the park i fly in .i used to take my flywoo lr4 from the park to the intercoastal water way in Florida. It is a beautiful view. I always got a little nervous if something malfunctioned i might loose my drone. So i thought with the avata 2 it would be so much better for that flight .much longer battery life and a much more stable and reliable return to home if needed. Wellllllll nope. I ran into the darn geozone and the drone tried to land. Realllllly i never se a plane this far north of the airport . They need to adjust the length of this takeoff and landing zone. This far away from the airport the planes have to be over 1000 ft anyways, so why is the zone going that far out .,,??? Frustrating. So i agree they are needed because there are too many idiot pilots out there, but sometimes they can be annoying!

Nice review. I wonder why tricks in easy acro does so much better than tricks in manual mode??

Yes, the kit is recommended for beginners
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks! I'll have a look, like you said, the motion controller looks like the most fun way to have a go with the neo and that's how the N3 kit is set up. Keep up the good work! 👍
Hi Captain, thanks for the review! Did you try it without the removable propeller protectors ? Do you think it would make any difference?
No difference
I've been trying to find that 180 drift but couldn't find it in any video till now, thank you.
Glad I could help
absolutely amazing review!
Thank you kindly!
always great vids Steve
Glad you like them!
The NEO is modern and better
In addition to the manual switch on the FPV remote 3 I understand there are two additional settings to fly FPV in a better manual way.
Yes, I did not show them to newbies as I don’t expect any newbies watching this video to buy the NEO to fly FPV in manual mode.
Always a joy to see your reviews 👍
I have the Neo and the RC2. Would you know if the goggles would allow for FPV flight using the RC2?
No. Only fpv rc3 or motion3
Great review. I see that in this video the motion controller and Goggles3 shows Normal mode. Are Sport/Manual/or other modes available when using motion controller ? Thanks.
Only Sport is available
Here’s a tip.. Take the prop guard off. I found it more responsive in manual mode 😊
I tried it and it made no difference
Very intuitive video as always 👌👌
I've got a question...
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you very much for the quick reply 🙏👌
Good review!
4;12 does coordinating with the rudder help? Like in Acro mode on a Firefly or race quad?
In manual mode one must coordinate rudder (YAW) along with roll. It works to a degree on the NEO.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Cool Thanks for the info. I enjoy watching your reviews. I've been flying FPV for 15 years but just recently got into the sub250 quads. Firefly nano 1s is insanely fun! i'm looking for more great micros to enjoy with my 14yo son who is a fantastic rotor pilot already. He's been flying quads since he was 5. He learned on a Phantom 2 Vision+... rambling, but anyway, Keep putting out the great videos TubeFriend

Great review 👍🏻👍🏻 but wondering can use Dji first edition Fpv controller and googles to pair with this mini drone???
Nope, not compatible
@ no way, I start no liking Dji for this kind of things.. ty for replying back..
Great video ! Can you fly the Neo in winter ? I live in Montreal,.
Yes, all drones can fly in our Canadian winters. You just put the batteries in your pocket, keep them warm, before you fly.
Thank you 👍
Nice thanks for the review Steve I wish I had a cool drone that is like fimi mini 3😅
Hello captain drone thanks for the information, i like your video reviews..
can you do flips and rolls without the goggles?
Nope… you need the goggles to activate that feature
No. Manual mod only with goggles3
awsome video Captain
Very nice video. I'm newbie for FPV drone, I would like to know if the remote control and FPV goggles in the Cetus FPV Kit can be used with DJI NEO?
Nope.... Think of it this way DJI Products ONLY work with DJI Products.
One thing is for certain. There are ZERO FPV Drones pilots buying the NEO.
Did you try taking the prop guards off for manual mode? Might make a slight difference.
Yes, makes no difference
Good morning captain cool drone nice review
Very nice review thanks
to fly with motion controller, you must use goggles 3?
As far as I know the MOTION CONTROLLER 3 only works with the GOGGLES 3.
How Long the distance of drone..just asking sir...tnx
Always watching your video sir...
10 km depending on interference… but you’ll never achieve that because the battery is too small and you’ll run out of power.
Thanks again Steve!
Great video cap
Appreciate it
Many thanks for sharing Captain; I have had the Neo (Drone only) for just over a week; initial thoughts?; amazing tech regards using without any Phone / Controller; not so amazing; Fly App very limited particularly with no RTH / Safety function; Video quality...........hmmmm 4K? I dont think so !!!; my original Spark looks better!; regardless, I am sure there will be updates to a number of aspects and have ordered a DJI RCN 3 to hopefully get more options with the settings...............
2 updates have come.. quality 👍
Adjust your rates for the remote and it flys great in manual, also true for avata and avata 2, watch some videos.
Unfortunately the only people who ever say that only fly DJI drones and have not been in the FPV Drone hobby for very long. The rest of us have tried it... it is like putting lipstick on a pig. When you start with an unresponsive flight controller, you just get turn it into gold. You won't ever find any RUclips vids of a PROP FPV PILOT adjusting the rates and then telling everyone "this drone is amazing now and better then other FPV Drones!"
just this thing existing will likely do a number on the "knockoff" competitors drones prices. it's surprisingly cheap for what it is and doesnt have horrible footage fwiw
good day captain. Any good recommendation for a first time FPV drone with only 300 dollars budget?
For that price have a look at RTF FPV KITS for beginners. I have reviewed everyone in existence.
Why would easy acro work so well with mc3 but you struggled with the same moves in manual? You didn't outright say it, but i think the assumption when you reviewed it in manual was that it just can't do those things, when in actuality it can...
It appears you are a newbie IN the world of FPV
Captain. put a bug in DJI's ear...
What say you.?????
Excellent review as always. Does anyone knows if Master Airscrew will make any propeller for the Dji Neo?
Eventually yes
Do you need the goggles if you're using the RC Motion 3?
Yes
Hey Captain, I have an original Magic Pro. I still love it but would love to get the Neo. Will it fly using my original Mavic Pro controller?
Unfortunately not
DJI Goggles N3 for the Neo have been leaked. I wonder how much they will cut the price.
Good video Steve
Thank you
This is in Orleans in Ottawa! I was there a few weeks ago! My in laws live 3mins away. Great video btw I’m interested in getting one of these.
You have a good eye... it is indeed Orleans
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 btw I live in the UK ha!
How about purchasing a Neo with v3 goggles and upgrading to avata 2 later
1st! The review we’ve been waiting for
Not
With the goggles and a remote controller, can you use any of the programmed shots..like dronie, follow, etc? I know it doesn't have master shots...
Not in FPV mode. In FPV mode it becomes like the AVATA 2
😂😂😂I have the dji hat, great video steve👌
Great review
very informative. well, done.
Thanks again Captain!
Can the rates be changed so it flips and rolls faster in manual mode?
Yes, but the flight controller is not designed for such manual/acro mode, so no need to bother.
what is the cheapest fpv drone
@@facter5000 idk but I also wanna know
Nice piece of tecnology, do you know any web sights where i can get a battery for my hubsan zino 2 + they seem hard to get.
Check EXO DRONES in North America. The EXO DRONES are made by HUBSAN so look for their drone that is similar to the ZINO 2+
Got NEO today, notice its little windy sensitive
You think the acrobatics in manual would be better without the propeller guards?
Nope. I tried it and no difference.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 ohh I think it is just some assisted self levelling then
No offenese but learned after seeing a few honest videos about the lousy video quality, the shakey follow footage (and personally so disappointed my Mini2 RC doesn’t work with) and whenever their are affiliate links we know the positives are pushed
Ok, so you're young and not fully clued into the social media business world. When I buy a product, like the DJI NEO and FPV Gear (yes, all bought with my money)... where do you think the money came from? It comes from commissions I received from affiliated links. I don't force people to use my links, and I don't force people to buy a product. I work under the business model of... If you work hard and make a QUALITY review with quality video and editing and show what a product can and can not do, then you come across as honest. Let me tell you... That business model works and that is how I make money, and that money goes into the RUclips channel. This is the year 2024 and this is how the modern RUclipsrs make money. I have an entire Video on this subject (I'm very transparent): ruclips.net/video/AXC4Q4cLlWU/видео.htmlsi=9PRjgN4nHUljo7r5

You’re welcome, thanks for watching!
Great footage
I.m really thinking about getting the drone
Hi! What about the camera quality at low light, for real estate?! Better 03? O3 got 1.7 sensor, this one 2, so what do u think?
Oh you better watch my first NEO review to see the answer to that… you will be disappointed
