Right?? A dark mocha man got with a half in half creamer lady and created a black woman who's perfectly in the middle!! (Me) It's tough knowing you're not lightskinned or darkskinned, but you're just stuck in the middle and so many companies only cater to either or. *sigh*
C'mon Professor Ky! Because RUclipsrs are getting out of the essence of teaching. There are a lot of reviews going on, but nobody is teaching anymore. Love this! Thank you, girly!
One of my tricks when it comes to choosing drugstore makeup is compare it side by side with the foundation or concealer that I'm currently using. I know formulas are different but it tends to work. Great video!
Ive been stuck in the foundation, concealer phase for a while because I am not confident but this had definitely helped A LOT! I APPRECIATE THE DETAILS.
So true, I once was told by a Mac artist that “N” stands for “NOT” in their NC or NW descriptions. Idk but I’m def yellowish undertone and wear NC40/NC42
I have watched so many videos on how to match foundations but yours is the first that actually makes sense. I'm an indian and my face and neck are different shades. And then my face has different tones. It is very very frustrating to get a foundation that matches because I'm not fair, nor am I dark. I'm like right in the middle where most brands don't make the exact match. I find that girls in the makeup department either try to match foundations that are too dark, or too yellow. It makes so much sense to match the foundation to the neck. I only discovered your video today and am looking forward to watching your other videos which you would have made 3 years back lol. Thank you so much Tyra! Christine/New Zealand.
i once was told that MAC’s shading is the reverse of all other companies. this makes perfect sense because i also have a warm undertone but wear an NC shade. i look for golden in the description of foundation shades too! looking forward to more of your beauty basics series! 😊
@@biancajohnson3887 I saw a few good videos on here about how to correct your foundation when it’s too light or too dark. Check out “How to save your foundation” on BeautifulU Network. I think it’s still important to capture your correct undertone and you can fix the shade from there. Hope this helps, I’m a novice at best!
Loved it!!!! Very informative, I really learned a lot and will be applying your techniques for my foundation purchase. Based upon what I learned, I am warm toned, and I have oily skin. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks so much👌👌👌
This was very informative! I have the problem that my face is MUCH darker than my neck. If I match my neck, my face looks ghostly. I never really know what shade to pick. I usually just match my face, but the difference is obvious. I've tried bronzing my neck, which helps a bit. I may try to find a shade that bridges the 2. Thanks for a great tutorial!
As an intermediate make up lover, I still love these type of videos. Refreshers are always good to look at IMO because sometimes we get so comfortable in our routine, we forget some basics. Thank you for the video. Looking forward to the series. Also, could you do a video on how to apply highlight (the glow)? I’ve never mastered it. I always put it on too thick & have a hard time blending it. Thanks.
This is right on time Kyra! I struggle so much w/ picking foundation and this was very thorough and easy to follow as always! These are my fav videos that you do 💜
Thank you so much for going in depth with the color foundation, I'm also golden carmel/ yellow undertone but in MAC I'm a NC 44 or NC45. But most of the other brands I'm always look for Golden or Yellow.
Wow I definitely needed this video because I would've went with the first foundation shade but your pick matches perfectly. Btw your eyeshadow for beginners video really helped me a lot. Thank you
This is THE most helpful how to select a foundation instruction I have ever received period (video or in person at a makeup counter). Now realizing what I have is too orange. So cool, thank you thank you thank you‼️💜
Yasss! Come through with the knowledge, come through! Thanks so much for this! I'm always saying that I don't want to just apply makeup, I want to be educated on the entire process.
I read somewhere, that MAC’s way of naming their foundations is that the NCool shades are for warm undertones and the NWarm shades are for the cool undertones. The reasoning behind it is to cancel each other out to create a neutral base. I’m not sure how true that is, but it makes sense to me. Because I’m very warm and very golden, but I think I look good in silver jewelry as well as gold... I love them both on me!
Great video.....I struggle with selecting my perfect shade because my neck is darker than my face and chest. So....which part of my face i should match???
I heard that as far as Mac is concerned the NC stands for “not cool” hence warm tones wear it and NW means “not warm”. Maybe that’s why although you’re warm, you match with NC
Ok I’m listening to you and I have an issue...I look better in silver jewelry and I have green veins ...so I’m cool and warm? How do I find my shade...my perfect shade? I always find I have to mix two so it would be great to have one that matches me perfectly...what’s your advice?
Kyra, thank you soo much im age 52 I very seldom wear make up but occassionally I like to bring it LOL... This video was so helpful and i l was able to determine im a warm tone, and i love wearing Gold jewelry also. I like how you stressed to make sure foundation matches perfect with the neck color.. These type of videos are needed.
So I watched this video earlier and went to ulta to grab some foundation and used your method and SIS, SIIIISSSSS......Perfect match on first try. Thank you! I'm ALL THE WAY HERE FOR THIS SERIES!!! YESSSS, (insert the butterfly dance here, lol)
Thank you for sharing such an informative video! I am a Hispanic woman. This was my first video I've watched of your Channel you just might have a new subscriber keep up the great work.
I like silver and gold jewelry on myself.. Not too yellow gold it has to be a soft gold I have always looked for neutral foundations. I am dry on the perimeter of my face and I can be dry or oily in my T Zone depending on the weather lol ... Not sure why category I fall in that area Lol🤔Great tips so far !!!
Thanks for this. But if we match to our kneck, which is generally lighter than our face, doesn't that mean that the foundation will be lighter than our face, and therefore, cause flashback?
Thank you for doing this video!! It made so much more sense on hie to pick a foundation. I will watch the other videos to learn how to apply. I went to Ulta and the make up artist picked a shade that completely washed me out 💀..smh nope I think I'll have better chance of choosing my own foundation.
Hello Beautiful thank you cause it's a guessing game for sure. I'm combination normal/oily warm not red or yellow, but deep. Looking forward to the lesson like when you bronze and contour I thought it was the same now I'm watching the tutorials and finding out their different. Great Job. I'll keep watching you're friend a seasoned diva on a budget, 😄😄💋❤
definitely neutral as can be, picking a foundation is so hard ! It’s like i’m not super light and i’m not super dark.
Right?? A dark mocha man got with a half in half creamer lady and created a black woman who's perfectly in the middle!! (Me) It's tough knowing you're not lightskinned or darkskinned, but you're just stuck in the middle and so many companies only cater to either or. *sigh*
Galaxy Cat if this ain’t me you’re talking about idk😂😂
I felt this deeply I’ve bought 3 different foundations and concealers and there either to far or to light
Sameee
Saaaaame! Finding foundation is terrible
C'mon Professor Ky! Because RUclipsrs are getting out of the essence of teaching. There are a lot of reviews going on, but nobody is teaching anymore. Love this! Thank you, girly!
I love it too.
I have hyperpigmentation so it’s more difficult to find the right shade

This!!!
My chest is lighter than my face. So I have to get a few. And I’m redder in the summer and golden in the winter. 🤷🏽♀️💆♀️🤦♀️

Keep ‘em coming, Kyra! Just turned 50 and I’m still learning!

Ive been stuck in the foundation, concealer phase for a while because I am not confident but this had definitely helped A LOT! I APPRECIATE THE DETAILS.
Woooow, the breakdown in this video was sooo informative, girl you are Soo smart, and great in what you do!!
MAC shades were reversed NC is for warm tones and NW was for cool .... I’m an NC45 and I’m warm toned
That is so true shay G in Mac I’m nc 50 for winter and no 45 for summer and I have green veins so I really think it depends on make up company
nc45 is an exact match for me too and i'm warm toned. my veins look green and my skin is more golden. Yellow pops on me and orange can wash me out
So true, I once was told by a Mac artist that “N” stands for “NOT” in their NC or NW descriptions. Idk but I’m def yellowish undertone and wear NC40/NC42
I feel NC are for people who are yellow under toned and NW is for those who are red under toned.
Exactly Sahy G. I have a warm undertone and I use NC50 Mac powder
I have watched so many videos on how to match foundations but yours is the first that actually makes sense. I'm an indian and my face and neck are different shades. thebeautygirl79 You are right. NC is warm.
Yessssss NEEDED THIS. 21 and tryna learn 🥴
Actually, MAC’s NC=not cool=WARM; NW=not warm=COOL. They are reversed. That’s what a MAC artist told me.
Correct
ok I am glad you cleared that up because I am NC50 in Mac however my veins in my arms are green...please help
This is so great! Thank u for sharing... I struggle with matching bc my neck is so much darker then my chest and face. Idk which way to go
I just love your videos! So helpful! I also didn't know you had a boutique!!! #Dopeness
Finally! Someone is doing a video that I've been waiting for! Thanks Kyra!!

I’m so damn lost when it comes to finding my color ..I just gave up
I'm about to🤦🏾
Sephora is about to ban me because I done exchanged so many foundations for various shades and brands trying to find the right shade!🥴🤦🏾♀️
I bought 5 foundations by maybellene fit me and none of them look right. either too warm or gives me a ashy look
