I’ve watched just about every garage door video on RUclips and none of them have perspective like this. This video is one of a kind! So informative, keep em’ coming bro! Stay safe!💪🏼
Thanks for the content! Been about 5 years since I was in the industry. Starting my own thing now in a completely new market and had no idea where to start with what springs to stock up on. I’m currently trying to network with some guys in the area to learn a little more about the business as it pertains to this general area like common doors and springs. Just made a connection with a larger outfit who doesn’t specialize in garage doors but does have a division that does repairs and installs. Talked with the general manager and they are willing to sell directly to me till I can get in with some manufacturers and suppliers. Going next week to stock the truck out with the basics. Thanks for spreading the knowledge. You do a great job explaining things.
I enjoy your videos. Yes I recently had a door spring break. I am a retired GM mechanic, now "my home repair guy". I spent a lot of time at work and not doing repairs around the house until badly needed. I took on the garage door spring. Yesterday I finally took on the support cables. To my surprise with the door all the way up I changed them without any problems. Of course then the garage door opener decided to break the belt. I did not know but found out that Chamberlain openers {mine does} lifetime warranty on the belt. So they are sending me a new factory belt. I read reviews on the Amazon one I ordered and decided to wait for factory. The belt was 18 years old, I really cannot complain. On inspection it was very dried out and cracked. Yes as a auto mechanic we used RUclips a lot to repair cars and trucks. Now I am using it to make repairs around my house. As for Garage door Tech's your videos are right on the money. Good Job. I did not see a spare Chamberlain drive belt on your truck?
Thank you for the feedback. I usually have some on my truck but I had recently went through quite a bit of inventory. I do have some stocked in my garage. This video is mainly a rough idea on parts to keep on the truck. To be honest, most of the time I almost always try to upsell the motor anyway if it’s old enough for the belt or chain to start breaking. Just not the most common repair all things considered. But thank you for watching my channel. Glad you approve, lol.
yes I do brother. I sell just about anything the customers want. Sometimes customers are very specific to a brand and don't want anything else. So I get what they want, lol.
well worth it sir. Believe me. Ive had to block many haters who come across my channel hating on me for spilling the beans on how lucrative this really is. If I had a son instead of all daughters I literally would tell him forget about college and get into this at a young age and he would be way more well off than most kids at a young age. It’s truly insane. Just food for thought. Past 3 weeks just off ONE of my advertising platforms ALONE not counting the rest, I profited $16,000 in right at 3 weeks. Just for a rough idea.
@@lbsr3614 yeah we have two major local vendors here in San Antonio. So kind of a blessing. But if you need a place and don’t have one you can order from a company called service spring i believe it is out of california.
All around go the second size length up. For example, i think in the size 207 spring, the shortest length is 23 inches, so go up to the 25inch because it helps balance the door the best all around. 23inch springs on standard hollowback doors have a tendency of raising the door a little hot off the ground. Hope that helps
yeah it’s hard to find them unless you can get them from a supplier near you if available. I need to open my own distribution center. You guys buy the torsion tubes from me since I have a supplier here, lol
@dapperdudesgarage Thanks. Go for it on your distribution. That's awesome. I completed a 3 day hands-on course last week out in Maryland, I learned a lot. Hopefully, this will be a career change for me.
@@josegomez-jk7ys I don’t know what your previous career was like but this Garage Doors stuff is pretty rewarding. All things considered. I personally love it, especially running my own business in this field it is simply priceless.
@dapperdudesgarage For me, 32 years in high-end custom kitchen cabinetry and architectural millwork industry, I'll say I'm no stranger to hard work, late nights, punching in at 4am beating the clock to meet deadlines etc. I can't complain. I've done it all, and it is decent money, but I feel that I've reached as far as I can go working for someone else.
@@josegomez-jk7ys Man, just like everyone else, I too worked basically all my life for others. Using my talents and dedicated hard-work to deepen others’ pockets, mistreated, dis-respected, taken for granted, and all the while hear them gripe and complain daily, being worried about being on time, late, call ins etc….BUT THEN I STEPPED INTO THE LIGHT! There is no greater feeling than running ur own thing, being your own boss, taking off when you need time, and even when you take off you can keep marketing going and just hire fill in guys so YOU STILL MAKE MONEY EVEN WHILE ON VACATION!!!!!!! Nothing compares. Its just priceless. Go for it man!
Good stuff man
