ANYONE WHO GETS THESE. Use hella blue lock tite or you will lose the footman loops on the lid or the bolts for the latch plates! If you haven't take it apart and do it. You won't regret

The right side box looks about 3/4" higher than the left side. Need to use the tape measure. I can see it in the video. I mounted mine on my Suzuki DR 650 by myself. No problems!🤔

      Eric,,
I looked at that also, video is deceiving. We used a straight edge across the seat and luggage rack. Yes, you can do it yourself but the whole reason we are doing the videos is to help out those that are not so confident or handy. Don't want guys to get discouraged or see them ruin a part before it's used. That just discourages a person possibly from trying in the future...we all have different skill set...maybe yours is installing bags.
Thanks for the comment, thanks for watching.

Is there a reason you went with tusk instead of happy trails

Hey Shorty, I just ordered these for my new KLR 650.
My Toucannon’s from Happy Trails are taking for ever.
Can you elaborate about the mounting holes on each side being different?
On the manufacturer’s installation video they get one pannier marked & drilled & then butt the two panniers together to mark the other. Are you saying that will not work?

    • @shortysadventurebarn
      @shortysadventurebarn  Год назад +1

      Content,
We found that the pannier rack was a different height on the right side...a lot higher. Not sure but think it was a manufacturing flaw. Small tubes that went from the main supports to the rectangular pannier support looked shorte and at a different angle. Our advice is to get one absolutely where you want it, do the mirror transfer, BUT definitely dry fit before drilling. Plenty of video out there showing guys redrilling. I suggest a pair of deep c-clamp vice grips to hold firm while measuring. We used a straight edge across the top of the bag to the trunk rack and the seat / frame. Also, BEWARE, if your KLRis a 2023 you will need a different bolt to mount the rack...they switched from a round brake fluid canister to a rectangular creating a clearance issue...see our install. Hope this helped, thanks for watching. I will be starting a FB group this week and would like to see how you make out!

      @@shortysadventurebarn thanks Shorty🙏
I don’t do social media (FB/Twitter, etc.) I’m too inclined to say things that won’t age well and I’m too stubborn to grovel & beg for forgiveness 🤣
Seriously though, I’m really enjoying your videos. I’ve been doing a few mods to my 2023 KLR 650 & getting ideas from your videos. I did invest in a heated Corbin seat. It’s extremely comfortable as well as being toasty. Also a set of Barkbusters and Oxford heated grips. These all turned out to be great additions for me.
Can’t wait to follow you on your big adventure!

is one narrower than the other to accomodate for the exhaust?

      Jason,
No sir, they came as a large set. I am now 40 inches in the rear. I do A LOT of long distance overnight travel and like to be able to secure all of my stuff....I will be putting out a "what I pack, how I pack" within the next week or so and you will see how I calculated the size I needed. Thanks for watching and for the question.

The pannier bracket had shorter pipes at different angle on the exhaust side that’s why we couldn’t just transfer the marks we made on the left side.
