- Опубликовано: 18 окт 2024
- A downtown Toronto Yonge Street walk where I talk about some interesting and unusual facts inspired by a BlogTO article (link below). I start at Bloor Street and head south to King Street encountering a rally and several firetrucks responding to an emergency along the way.
Recorded in 4K at 60 FPS on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

35:57, was so happy I caught up to you to say hi!
Those fire engines were attending a fire on the 12th floor of a apartment on Yonge.E bike caught fire while charging
I literally just paused Johnny's video to google news the incident, and read that 😆
Great walk! The same Yonge Street walk, filmed in May 1986 for Night Walk on Global TV, is at the My Night Walk YT channel in the Night Walk [1 of 10] episode at 8 minutes and Night Ride [2 of 10] at 25 minutes
Loved that series! Immediately what came to mind when I started watching Johnny's videos!
Thanks!I always hanged out on Yonge street, when i worked downtown,I went to Hoops ,and a cigar bar ,then back to Clarkson
Thanks Andrew!!!
Great video Johnny I slept in this morning and missed the premiere.
Missed it. We don’t have thanksgiving so happy marshmallow day. 😊
Big change from when I used to hang out down there in the 80's. Despite the sleaze, it was safe. I live in Alberta now, so I appreciate what Johnny does.
Interesting video. Thanks for all the info about Yonge street. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for this interesting walk down Yonge Street, Johnny. Happy thanksgiving! 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Johnny & friends!! Cheers!
I remember Sam the record man and A&A next door to it. They were our go to record shops on boxing day every year with our Christmas money 🎉Those were the best days of Yonge Street Johnny in the 70s
Loved the beautiful content video and as always a big fat boom boom and your beautiful sharing adventure documentary walk away tour as always beautiful and gorgeous captured super amazing and super cool, sharp and clear, keep it up Sir and your beautiful sharing adventure as always appreciated .. take care and stay safe my friend .. thanks from Montreal QC
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 🇨🇦
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone ☺️
I was in Toronto for just 2 days. I didn't know that Yonge street is so cool, especially the Dundas Square.
I missed that! One more reason to go again to canada/Toronto.
Nice walk as always Mr strides
Very good !!
I like seeing young st just not driving on it lol.
4:14 ..Charles St w. I lived in the student building on right. You had to go to U of T. ..rent was between $325 to $375 a month . I had a one bedroom on almost top floor and an underground parking spot. Was a great neighbourhood in late 70s , early 80s . Wow has it ever changed
Nice video Johnny, By the way, I remember Yonge Street from the 60's. Far more collorful back then than it is these days.
good morning everyone
I'm watching your videos because I'm not there but I don't know why locals are watching these walks but it's fun to see viewers :D
yes I remember Yonge st. along time ago and its stores bars all gone sad for me
The History of Toronto is quite rich and it is great to see the future development but it seems that most of the past Glory is slowly being 'shadowed' by the city, if not only by the massive skyscrapers as we can all just stand back and witness. Happy Thanksgiving weekend Johnny...🦃
Have you thought about vlogging the trails outside of Toronto? I’d like to do it, but I’m too shy
Happy thanksgiving day
It is right, Carretera Panamericana goes through my hometown, I'm from San Salvador, El Salvador :)
Good morning
This video starts at Yonge and Bloor. On the south side of this intersection, at the corner on the right, there used to be a men's clothing store. It was still there when I left Toronto in 1995. I see that it is now an office building or a condo.
I assume you're referring to Stollery's?
@@JohnnyStrides Yes, that's it! I had forgotten the name of the store. I did some shopping there.
This area is so popular
It's always that place where you just eat and eat and eat. From one restaurant to the next that's all those teenagers go
Eat eat eat
❤
That stretch south of College has been like that for years. Why is it taking so long and why is such a long stretch needed to install an elevator?? Now it's going to shift to the other side?? UGHHHH
The captions on this video are on a black background and not easily visible. Can the background be changed to white?
Those are RUclips settings, I have no control over that.
@@JohnnyStrides Thanks for your response and for informing me that the captions with a dark background are RUclips settings. I love your videos. The filming is of high quality, and you provide an interesting narrative as you walk the streets of Toronto - where I lived for 20 years, from 1975 to 1995.
La gente ayi andan apurados igual que en New York😮
Dundas Square isn't that bad design wise, it's just got too many sketchy people milling around.
Sadly, the Yonge zeitgeist of the 70's/80's is long gone.
The "Yonge zeitgeist of the 70's/80s" - I remember it well, including the sleaze and the porn shops!

Well…have lived in TO for decades. Haven’t been in the core for ages. I am older, but, the walk was kind’a scarey. Don’t even recognize half of what I use to know😏🫤🫤🫤🫤. Great walk, and, I won’t need to go there anytime soon😢
Interesting video. Thanks for all the info about Yonge street. Happy Thanksgiving.
