Yay finally exploring the real shadow realm, The sky in evergaols always gave me the creeps
I think the fell twins portion is actually even more interesting than the evergaol universe. I always wondered how that boss worked and at one point tried to find explanation video like this to no avail
With the Evergaols all being significantly limited in the arena size, Ordina Liturgical Town always feel exceptionally surreal when you're able to have a more relaxed ability to look at the changed skybox and things from various heights.
I'm curious if that one functions the same way as the others or not, since there're invisible Black Knife Assassin entities that are intangible in the overworld (even though you can see them with the Sentry Torch), whereas the other entities don't appear at all until you're in the Gaol itself.
It is sort of a bigger Evergaol, it still uses the same barrier and overworld settings of normal Evergaols but the difference is the enemies spawning method. It's also interesting on a lore point of view how they don't share the same blue/violet hue of the Evergaol prisoners since that dimension was utilized as a way to hide the town and the Albinaurics instead of imprisoning them.
@Kami.Sensei From a lore perspective, I had also wondered if it had to do with the way that things get all distorted when you go through the Forbidden Lands, as on the other side, the trees & wildlife are all ephemeral spirits, and the ghosts of the Dragonkin Soldiers around the Yellough Anix Ruins seem like they might've been meant to link to the physical bodies we find washed down the various underground rivers. Those themes match with the Ancestral Worshippers below being ethereal before appearing when you get close, while the ones above are just in visible physical form. (Chinese spiritual traditions with dualism of the ethereal Hun Souls & physical Po Souls that connect to Yin & Yang themes with Onmyodo that tie into things like the Ancestral Spirits absorbing souls to regenerate).
I feel as though it's likely similar with the Realm of Shadow being akin to both that and the Evergaols, given the way all the petals of the Scadutree give a similar kind of vibe to the Assassin's veils (but especially in Belurat) while also mirroring the look of Marika's room in the capital. That along with the Suppressing Pillar being in the center of the Lands Between and it serving to collect various forms of death have always made that particular pseudo-parallel dimension idea in the game especially interesting, (albeit seemingly not fully fleshed out in any explicit detail).
ordina really makes evergaols feel like almost a missed opportunity, a ds1-style rush job. so much potential. imagine an arena where the fact that it's an arena is a secret, or a change in worldstate deep in a catacomb. if elden ring 2 is ever a thing, that's one feature i would absolutely love to see expanded upon
@@Kami.Sensei I got the impression that the town was basically sacrificed into an Evergaol as an emergency measure to contain all of the Black Knife Assassins. There's a Black Knife Assassin found just beneath the stairs leading to the Haligtree, implying that they were after Miquella and Malenia and were just barely stopped from reaching there.
The Albinauric archers arguably do appear in normal Ordina, they're just not found in the same locations once in the Evergaol. It is odd that their wolves don't appear though. Perhaps the wolves are either not quite in the Evergaol yet or are even more affected by the Evergaol than the rest.
the pitch black sky gives the world such a surreal atmosphere

What bugs me about Godefroy the Grafted is that it would've been SO EASY to make work! Just remove the cloak, hide the head with a helmet, and swap the iconic axe for a generic one. Now instead of a king he looks like a big grafted warrior.
Since Godrick's body is fully modelled under the cloak and Elden Ring has a built-in system for swapping weapon models, those two steps would take like 15 minutes. That leaves 45 minutes to grab one of the game's generic helmets/masks and staple it to the model's head. One hour of work and you've got a radically different looking character.
Well, maybe. You can remove the cloak: but if the 3D model was made to be clothed you would have to retexture the body to make it look right with no clothes.
Or ifthey wanted to make a unique boss, make the dragon a runebear and make it scream instead of breathe fire
@@62cky4powerthirst | Remember, Evergoal bosses already have a unique texture applied.
POV: The Abyssal Serpent was released
The dark skybox reminds me of the dark Firelink Shrine.
Well done! The evegaols and omen twins fight were two big moments in my first playthrough, I had no idea what was going on 😂 Thanks for shedding some light on the backrooms, it's always a fun time watching you
I’d love a mod that just has that sky for the whole game
Well there is, kinda, but it limits your vision way more it was published for the rusty modjam, was only in limgrave i belive but you can ask the author some suggestions
"Bro wake up, new Kami Sensei video dropped"
i love these videos
I was always curious of this
I thought it looked like the overworld with black fog
0:39 holy shi my guy Godeofroy mentioned!
The obfuscated branches of the Evergaol Erdtree look like roots descending from space, or the arms of some horrific creature in the sky
You did the Twins! Thanks!
What Blaidd did after being betrayed and trapped in -the Time Chamber- Evergaol :
Cool! thanks for making this
I wanna see you explore the moat inside Leyndell's 2nd wall or how the subterranean shunning ground connects to Leyndell above.
I had a glitch in seamless coop mod where my friend was getting stuck while teleporting into evergaol, meanwhile I could go through the wall and explore this shadow realm. Was pretty cool, not gonna lie.
There’s one out-of-bounds thing I’d be interested in seeing/seeing you check out how it works.
You know how, when Miquella joins PCR for phase 2, the world itself becomes darker in order for his light to appear brighter than it otherwise would?
I’d like to know how that actually affects the world around the Divine Gate arena. Is the effect only player-centric? Is it more like how the Evergaols’ darkness works? Is it a separate arena map? Or is the effect literal-that the entire world does, itself, truly become darker when Miquella returns?
I’d love to see an investigation by you. Thank you for what you do! :)
Love you and love your videos. ❤
im really enjoying these videos. i love the black of the evergaols.
While it lacks the dimensional rifts and rift-colored boss auras as the Evergaols, I wonder if the Land of Shadow was put into a kind of Evergaol by Marika. Also, curiously enough, Blaidd calls Darriwil a "revenant" of the Evergaol in the Japanese script, so that aura might indicate the prisoner has become cursed. Only Vyke and Hugues lack any aura, and the Onyx Lord has a different aura, perhaps as an error or a partially cursed state.
Thanks for another neat video, Kami Sensei! I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving, if the U.S. holiday applies to you!
bro think he zullie the witch
I fell off the edge in Alecto's arena more than I actually died to her XD
Very interesting i always assumed the twins fight used the same thing and just blocked the view of what's around the bridge but i guess i was wrong, but as you said on the lore side it might be the same dimension.
unseen world
Welcome to Untended Gr... wait no
Had the same thought 😆
When I first played the game I though that we were inside of an underground dungeon were the circle is
WE MUST ESCAPE
i think the game map is a tree i mean three story Diorama; Lands-Between, Eternal Cities and SotE.
Ordina has hints for the nature of these blue hue zones, how time works in them. who is in them on the other
hand
is trickier.
From a development perspective, I'm guessing the Fell Twins uses a different method than Evergaols because one, the Evergaol look isn't dark enough for the intended look, and two, it was probably developed by a different group of people.
Have you ever looked inside the rift in the ground under where the prisoner is summoned? I saw into it once and I'm pretty sure it goes to hell.
Can you show us how the catacombs work? Do they exist in the overworld? How deep do they go? Cause I remember hearing skarabs inside.
I might dedicate a video for caves and catacombs in the future, thanks for the suggestion 😄
it's scary
So dark farum azula is impossible.. I’ve always wanted to see it though
does the effect radius change in different areas? some of those look much bigger than the others.
What about rennala?
You're just copying the other channel
