The cobbles would have arrived as ballast on ships, loaded at the last port of discharge and offloaded before loading with cotton for the trip across the Atlantic to Liverpool, Bristol and later once the Manchester Ship Canal had been built right into Cottonopolis (Manchester). Cheap or free building materials.

Another great video. I’m curious, did y’all try she crab soup in Charleston? She crab soup was created in Charleston and has a very interesting history. I’ll provide a link below. Practically every restaurant in Charleston has shrimp and grits and she crab soup. Also a Lowcountry creation is stuffed flounder, Which is basically a large flounder fillet sliced open and stuffed with crab meat and other ingredients. The she crab soup in your video looked disgusting. That is not how real she crab soup looks. I hope y’all tried it in Charleston because most of the restaurants in Charleston make a fantastic version. Just like every restaurant has their own amazing version of shrimp and grits. There is actually a shrimp and grits cookbook that has over 25 different recipes. Shrimp and grits was created in the lowcountry of South Carolina between Charleston and Beaufort but it was not created in a restaurant. It was actually created by shrimpers. From Myrtle Beach all the way down to Hilton head shrimping used to be a huge industry. There were literally over 1000 shrimp boats in South Carolina and it was a family tradition like farming. But over the last 30 years cheap farm raised prawns from Asia as well as higher labor cost, insurance costs, and fuel costs, etc. have almost killed the southern shrimp industry which was a family tradition with shrimp boats passed down like family farms. There are now less than 100 commercially operated shrimp boats coming out of South Carolina waters today. But nothing compares to fresh local shrimp. It’s more expensive than the cheap imported stuff, but there’s just no comparison in taste and quality. Not to mention that crap from Asia is raised with lots of hormones and antibiotics. There are actually bumper stickers in South Carolina that say friends don’t let friends eat imported shrimp. Shrimp boats used to go out very early depending on the tides. Usually after the nets were put out someone on each boat was the designated chef and he would head to the galley and make breakfast. Of course being in the lowcountry that meant there was always a big pot of grits and they would make different types of gravy And add fresh caught shrimp. After the plantations were started the city of Charleston started growing and became a huge port for exports to Europe. The northern ports mostly had imports from Europe. Charleston became the richest city in the colonies because it was exporting timber cotton rice indigo animal furs and many other items to Europe. Wealthy people in Charleston actually sent their children to Paris and London to be educated. Charleston was famous for its balls and the women would wear elaborate imported dresses that were currently in style in places like Italy and France. Golf was also played in Charleston for the first time in the colonies. And the Charleston country club is one of the oldest golf courses in America. As you saw there are dozens of different architectural influencers in Charleston. It was the most Ethnic and culturally diverse city in the colonies. Savanna, however, did not grow organically. It was actually a planned city. Oglethorpe left England and came to Savannah with a land grant from the king and he had already drawn out the plans for what is now the downtown historic district. That’s why every other street has an identically designed park and you can see it’s laid out in a grid. Savanna was in the beginning pretty much strictly on English town. Which is why all of the architecture is the same. Savanna is great, but it’s Charleston‘s little brother! LOL just kidding, but Charleston is far far far more relevant important and historic than Savannah. There’s really no comparison. From the revolutionary war, with so many contributors of the constitution and the declaration of independence being from Charleston, to the Civil War and throughout all of the history of the colonies and the United States. I’m honestly not trying to put savanna down. I love Savannah and have been there many times. There’s just no comparing the two. But yet people make that comparison all the time.
Wow, long comment and great information. you should have your own YT channel. Thank you for all the knowledge and I will definitely return to try more of the food. I missed the she soup in Ch. My bad.

We will be staying in Savannah shortly for a week. We have travelled extensively throughout the U.S. and worldwide, most of Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Savannah appears to have very strong links to Ireland, and we can see from our research, that Irish names are still so prevalent. Please do more research before you post your videos, and get details factually correct. King George 2nd or any royalty previously or since, have never ruled Ireland. Our country is an independent country, a republic. Unfortunately, from many visits to USA in the part couple of decades, so many people are ignorant to even knowing what countries or cities or current affairs that are happening in Europe. I am writing this to you in order to help you, not for any other reason... Its just so important to get things factually correct, because if you don't, you lose credibility..
Hi Mary, thanks for your message and hope you enjoy your visit. Interesting to hear that, as king George II appears as "king of Great Britain and Ireland" in many websites. Here are some examples: www.encyclopedia.com/people/history/british-and-irish-history-biographies/george-ii-hellenes, www.historyextra.com/period/georgian/george-ii-facts-hanover-british-king-german-elector-rule-reputation/, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_II_of_Great_Britain . Many other British monarchs are also described as kings of "Great Britain and Ireland", including the (arguably) most famous, queen Victoria (www.britannica.com/biography/Victoria-queen-of-United-Kingdom). I understand that today Ireland is an independent country, but historically, a few British monarchs have claimed that title. Here's the full list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarchy_of_Ireland#List_of_monarchs_of_Ireland. So, I'm curious. aren't they recognized in Ireland?
Gordon was inspired this day, huh? 😁😆😅😂🤣 This road trip from the beginning: ruclips.net/video/MJV1OCb2-4g/видео.html

Nice couple... Hope likes you soon ameen
