- The plaintiff dated the defendant for 14 months, and he claims she was violent, and threatened to stab him and slit his throat. He’s suing her for a rent refund and personal property. The defendant says she tried to be supportive when they lived together, and she denies owing anything.
I’m glad the comment section is JUST AS confused as I am about JM’s handling of this case. This woman is dangerous, yet her acts and threats of violence went unaddressed. 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️😡

I can not believe you all fall for this so called man manipulation- hey if you get one of those tomorrow you are gonna be in court- he didn’t pay any rent- now he wants rent money and told the girls she wasn’t able to support herself and that’s why he’s breaking up with her - obviously to him everything goes through the money transactions. As we heard he was supposed to give $520 and she $800 - how is this fair? I think this case needs an appeal the girl doesnt owe him a shit, because as I understand there is no evidence he ever payed a cent for that rent, and his name is on the lease, then he does a breach of contract he has to be penalised with money for that. She shouldn’t pay for any couch or anything the least.
Couldn't agree more...someone threatens to slit your throat and it gets swept under the rug? Seems like it was simply "someone else's problem" instead of handling it right then and there. Another Depp/Heard situation brought to light. (I know this was before the whole trial, but it just adds to the list of proof that you might want to believe men once in a while...)

Had it been a man on tape telling a woman he was going to *“slit her throat, break her esophagus, break her face”,* or goading her towards violence, he’d have called him a woman beater! I think the plaintiff WAS forced out of the apartment because this girl is a nut, and it definitely didn’t start with this recording, hence the reason that he has the presence of mind enough to hit record.

When he laughed I was really disappointed. If the roles were reversed he wouldn’t have even let the case continue he would have yelled at the man for being a woman beater and automatically granted the woman’s claim. It’s sad that this clear case of abuse was just glossed over. As a black woman, I also find it frustrating that petite white women can talk in a sweet quiet voice and everyone just looks past their abusive behaviors.
Any abuse is not OK I agree with if the roles were reversed the outcome would've been different. It frustrates me so much how stuck in their old ways these intelligent elders are. Hopefully he'll learn about Equality over time???

JM simply went with the evidence. The fight was started when he told the defendant he was moving. That's when the threats started. He should have provided earlier threats that would have supported why he was moving. He thought JM wouldn't caught on.

But JM clearly doesn’t think much or her threats because he was laughing when she said all the extra stuff. It’s clear that if there had been some kind of emotional distress suit it would’ve been dropped bc he fell for her innocent girl act.

The judge completely skipped and ignored the threats of violence even with audio evidence. Listen closely to the interaction and how she made those threats and tried to provoke him to hit her. That's what evil women who are trying to trick a man into a position where they can play victim and call the police on you.. Seriously. $20 a month in electricity and less than $100 a week for food? He really thinks that's reality? Even in a small apartment electricity will be over $100. $20 my ass. And food isn't cheap. Especially if there are requirements you need, like allergies and eating healthy due to health needs, ect. Eating healthy is fucking expensive and they both look somewhat fit, not overweight. Even just for myself I spend more than $100 a week on food because I need a lot of red meat in my diet due to health issues with anemia and red meat isn't cheap. So it's either be dizzy and low on iron which affects my health, or cough up the extra money for steak. This man is clueless about what things really cost.
And that's not even touching on his handling of her clearly being abusive. Laughing it off when she threatened his life. That's fucking ridiculous. The bus came to a stop. Police came took them both. After it was over some people were still kinda on her side. I'm thinking, "she CLEARLY assaulted him! Classic case of self-defense. The way she was speaking on audio is clear she speaks like that often. So my take on this is, plantiff was saying he told her he was going to move (due to her behaviour) and it started THIS PARTICULAR argument which appears to be reoccurring amongst the two.

I’m really disappointed with Judge Mathis in this case he totally dismissed the abuse and threats and I think most of us can agree that he was most likely forced out and that’s why he told her he was leaving, he must’ve been having a bad day
Everyone has a bad day and this could've very well been one of them. See the thing that we all fail to miss is that JM's hearing this type of BS and others all day and week. The man is also ONLY human. Judges make mistakes and let's not pretend that JM is the only judge making poor judgments. AMERICA, unfortunately, has a 100+ year epidemic of this very madness. God bless and for the record, Keturah--I don't think the physical violence was confronted enough, but he also has other cases that have to be dealt with on that recording session or daily episode.
