Hey Nate, thanks for all the kind words..Linda and I really enjoyed having you visit us, you know our home is your home anytime..lol 😂 oh we are houseless now...well we still have our motorhome!! When we get our new home built in Oregon again our home is your home. We hope to meet up with you soon.
Hi Nate, You might want to check into Porta Leggs for the table support for sitting outside. You can use the same pole mount you had before with these EASILY removable SMALL legs!. I have these and they are great. They were used in the 70s in yachts and motorhomes instead of the Lagun table of today. They fold up very small and take very little space. They can be found on eBay and camper salvage places. Here is a link to one on eBay now. Originally from CA, so you might be able to find some around there also. These legs were a game changer for me... I have different length of table legs so can easily have a coffee table now too! I like these because you can also have dinner outside on the table as there is just the center support leg. Very sturdy I find as well. NEW Vtg 70s PORTA LEGGS Folding Tripod Table Base RV Boat Camper Camping NIB NOS Love the new build!
Great idea! I can't really tell the length and size of anything in videos but it seems like if he had these legs, he could set up the table where the cooler is instead of directly in front of the counter.
The new set up is awesome, it looks so good. Ron certainly knows what he's doing. I am excited that he intends to return to the road. He used to post some really great videos of his travels. Safe travels. I know it's hot there, we are still cool here in MA. It ALMOST got to 70 today!!! First day of summer..............yup.
Glad you were able to get it done and it looks really comfy. I am glad I had a conversion company do mine as my setup is pretty close to yours and my space has been optimized.
Looks like you’ll be a bit more comfortable. Although, the Murphy bed was a cool concept. Nice to see Ron again. I’ve been rewatching your van tour with him and his own tour as well. His old Chevy was sweet.
In the UK we have a saying "cheap as chips" that was $150 well spent, I would recommend a small hanging cabinet above the counter top for cooking essentials, herbs sauces etc, it gets irritating rummaging through boxes, its nice to have it at eye level just when you need it. We'll done Nate, I always enjoy your videos.
Desk idea looks good! Great idea! If you are cooking outside, you can get a small contractor’s collapsible table (@Northern Hydraulics or many big box stores) that you can use to work on, set a dinner table on, and they are so strong you can stand on them-with a camping chair you can work almost anywhere. Have safe travels!
My Connect is set up the same way. I thought about doing a cupboard above my counter, but I like the openness more. Great job! It helps to have friends with power tools!
This turned out great! In the future if you get tired of this set up maybe you could make the passenger seat swivel and you can set up a folding table (or table on a Lagun) as a desk facing your counter/bed area. I know you’ve said before that you don’t want to alter the cab area but you can just swivel the chair back to the front and it’ll look like a regular cab. I totally get not wanting to do those more expensive alterations but just throwing in my 2 cents. Love your videos!
Looks great. Love your videos. I am planning to get a van in the next year. I always get new ideas from your videos. Glad you are getting to cooler weather.
It looks like the perfect amount of space that will allow good mpg & free overnight sleeping. Not a terrible idea to have a safe welded somewhere ya' know. 😉 Great job Nate!
Nice work on the furniture for the Nissan, Nate and Ron! It looks great! Nice you were able to reuse the mattress too. Fast thinking to make that table that extends off the unit. I don't know how you did all that in the heat.
Hi Your van remod looks great. What you done with the bed is exactly what I was going to suggest to you . Safe travels. Can't you put your guitar on the ceiling above the bed somewhere..
Hi Nate Great to see Ron I'm a subscriber of his helping you love the van set up you did it right here is something you can use its short sweet and simple ( KISS ) stands for KEEP IS SO SIMPLE
Great build! I’m at the Bay side in SF enjoying the sunny weather in my van as I write this. Is where I live too. Not in my van but still have it from when. You and I were going to do a van tour of my van when I was at my home in SoCal. Invitation is still current. . I’d love to still say hello to you and maybe our paths will cross in SF.
I really like this set up much better. Looks alot more fuctional. Even tho the murphy bed idea was a cool idea it seemed awkward compared to the new set up. Great video! Keep it up.
Doing my R&D on a similar project right now. Currently using my Prius to stealth camp when I travel. You should hit me up next time you're traveling through KS.
A couple ideas. You might be able to keep the mattress from moving around (couch mode) with a ratchet strap around where it bends. If you do decide to make that overhead cabinet, take a look at foam and window screen construction. They're easy(er) to make, cheap, and light. RUclips: strong cabinets foam
Hey Nate, I like the upgrades you made. Nice and clean and functional. If you're going to be in the SF Bay Area next Saturday, 6/29 the OverlandBound.com group is getting together at Half Moon Bay. Probably like 45 mins from SF. If you're interested it will be at the Hot Dogma Brewing Company at 11AM - 270 Capistrano Rd, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019, USA. Like to see your upgrades in person.
@@RolandoNispiros it was great, until I returned to my van to find a citation for illegal camping, I'm not sure how that works? I camped almost an hour north of there.
Many hands makes light work. Can you still stand in there? If this doesn’t work out you may want to check out ericdoesearth’s bed design. It is similar to the recon bed.
Much better general layout. For the counter, I'd build a wall on each side that contours with the van wall and then do an overhead cabinet with led lighting underneath it to light up the counterspace. You're getting there Nate but I think you need more pinterest in your life lol
Hey Nate Think about turning around those front seats. Those are the best seats in the van. Designed to be sat in comfortable. VW did this in their camper. Just a thought...
Looks really good. I don't have a desk in my nv200 (3 surfboards strapped to that wall, atm), but basically the same bed as yours. Love the white paint on your desk, but think the interior would look less cave-like if you woulda used a lighter shade of grey on the walls (colors like grass green, tan, or maroon red would look even more cheerful).
That's so funny when you said you were in the Central Valley, because I had *just* been thinking, "Dang, that neighborhood really looks like Tracy or Manteca." :)
Nice job!!! What a difference a day or two :) makes. Thanks for taping it so we could see it come together. You will definitely be more comfortable with this build. Have you considered a ukulele?
Looks good definitely way more open and inviting. I maybe would have put the counter over a little in front of the door with a space to slide out the fridge from underneath. Then could have kept a smaller version of the taller bookcase type storage unit that you had.
He Nate, love the channel. Just a thought but you could flip the mattress and have a higher back rest and narrower base allowing for your fold up table design without having to buy a new mattress? Cheers mate, Dean from 🇦🇺
I’ve lost track of how much $$$ I’ve spent on my reconverted, converted conversion. And I still think it needs converting. But that’s just vanlife. Part of the adventure l guess.
That's a perfect solution to get the bed folded. See if there is a way to have someone custom sew a fitted type sheet(s) to insert the mattress sections in to? So they are still connected but can fold for the sofa mode. Or zippers on the sides to wash them. Now that would be aweaome. 💚💜💙
looks good! how wide is the kitchen cabinet? In my FTC I should have went with a 28" wide bed, ended up going 30" so my counter won't be wider then 14" I plan on a 45" wide bed when I slide it out. I love the near 5' width!
Hey Nate, you can cut that memory foam legnth wise to make your 2 pieces of foam for your bed, although the space between will be miserable when you sleep
You sound like your in my area which around a 100 Modesto, California Love your van conversion I wish there was someone in my life that could help me build my home on wheels which I'm planning on doing in about a year
Do you worry about getting hit by another car while sleeping? Seems that the rear left corner is the most common place to get hit while parked. The bed placement on the left is space efficient but its also the most vulnerable spot.
I think this bed set up is a lot better than the murphy bed set up. The only other bed i would choose would be the fold down seat/bed that recon camper does for the NV200.
nice job nate! even on video it looks a lot more spacious. i have a question: because your counter top is located on the low part of the poptop, does that mean that you now have to always cook sitting down?
You could of use the kitchen table as the dest. You could of make the kitchen counter on sliders and it would slid out as your work desk. And slide it in when not in use
Thanks for helping out our guy Nate! Good wishes for your endeavours!!
e q thank you, Nate is always welcome in our home or in our camp. Always pleasure meeting up with him.
I like this build WAY MORE. So much more open. Your desk space seems way nicer.
You strap the guitar to the back of the passenger seat, it’s long back should make it an easy fit. I love the new setup!! Enjoy and safe travels.
YES! This build seems much more open and practical . Great job!
Much nicer than the original build. Nice job. I really like the cabinet/desk.

Good video. Great seeing Ron from the old channel" Ron in a van". Miss seeing the van videos. Some of the best on RUclips IMHO.
Significant improvement, simple is often better.
🚐 🚐 Cargo net hanging from the ceiling, works well for my quilts. 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
@Kurt M. attach it to the pop top somehow I'm sure he can figure it out.
That could work well. It doesn't need to hold s lot of weight.

Hey buddy.. I like it...it also looks more comfortable too. Great job Rob...
Are you able to strap the guitar to the back if your passenger seat?
You can get more storage by hanging baskets up by the base of the pop top.
I used to enjoy Ron’s van channel, looking forward to his RV channel. Build looks pretty cool!
It looks like the perfect amount of space that will allow good mpg & free overnight sleeping. Not a terrible idea to have a safe welded somewhere ya' know. 😉 Great job Nate!
Great build. Have you thought about getting a smaller guitar like a Martin Backpacker? The sound won't be as good but, a lot smaller and convenient.
Ron is a really nice guy to help you out and I think your new conversion looks really good and more spacious!
I was going to recommend cutting your current mattress I think what you done will work out great
looks good. Hope it continues to work well for you. Hooray for helpful friends!

It looks really good, much better layout. You'll be able to relax in your van, work at the table and maybe even dose off a bit :)
Doing my R&D on a similar project right now. Currently using my Prius to stealth camp when I travel. You should hit me up next time you're traveling through KS.
I have to admit this is a good set up. In the last video I was against it but that was because I wanted you to keep the bed. Comfort is key.
I really enjoy the beginning of your videos.

you could try and notch the memory foam mattress or cut it in half or 2/3 and 1/3 and sew a seam for folding? convert it into a futon style?
How much was that dometic refridgerator. Nate smmmmmaaaarrrtttt I really like the newer open concept. I can see myself in it. Job well done.
