- Education Program and Outreach Manager and the Museum's resident Illustrator, Patrick O'Donnell sits down with Gregory Manchess in his studio to participate in a painting demo.
Very cool to see this side by side coached demo! I love Greg's work so much.
great video. Lovely seeing two people doing the same image. Greg's art is great. I hope to cross the atlantic someday to see the Rockwell museum
I LOVE these paintings. Bucket list: meet Greg. :)
What I wouldn't do to sit down with an artist like Greg, to get some solid feedback in real time on what I'm doing wrong lol.
what a fun and entertaining video. i wish it was longer (uncut), though.
los dos dibujos son geniales
Very cool.
Drawing with paint! But also sculpting with paint. It’s weird how the 3D surface of the subject can come through in the marks when the artist is focused on the planes of the subject.
What does Greg Manchess use for paint brands ?
How do I sign up for one of these classes with Greg? ;)
We have a one-day workshop with Greg in January...ONE DAY ART WORKSHOP
Real and Imagined: A Master Painting Class with Illustrator Gregory Manchess

Join this award-winning illustrator for an exploration of the art of realist painting inspired by the imagination. Light and shadow, color strategies, figure construction, and tonal design will be discussed and demonstrated, and all levels are welcome. The artist has worked in nearly every aspect of illustration, building visuals for a wide range of clients-from children’s books, to book covers, to advertising, film projects, and murals. Love his work, but I just couldn’t use oils. The waiting for paint to set up would drive me nuts.
