That's funny because I always associate 1975 with Christmas time since they often have relaxed Christmas jazz sounding songs that revolve around romance in Winter so this felt like another natural entry, though more literal this time.
They just have that ability to write insanely catchy songs, this album is so good. It cleans up the slight messiness of the last album, every track is worth it's space.
Without the interludes NOACF would be an elite album. I actually really enjoyed it tbh, make a playlist without the interludes/spoken word tracks and it’s a great album. So many good songs. But yeah this one is their best yet, by far. Accomplished musicians writing complex songs with great lyrics. I can’t get enough of it.
What do you mean? NOACF has songs like The Birthday Party, Roadkill, Me & You together song, Tonight and integrates EDM like Yeah I know and Shiny Collarbone in a way that only these guys could make. I don’t get why people hated it so much, I don’t know if it’s a common opinion that the fandom took just because their not making emo music anymore lol
Always reminds me of college and seeing all my friends and family at the bar to catch up home from school. All the laughs and good times in the snow. Fun times!
This song has taken on a new meaning now I am flying to see my girlfriend on the 22nd. We live in two different countries, Nepal and Thailand, and I only get to see her on school holidays as I'm a teacher here. "I'll be home on the 23rd." :)
This is by far one of my favorites on the album the lyrics are nothing less than genius and I’m so glad I can finally listen to this on Christmas! It’s such a vibe🤶🏻
She walks down the stairs, feeling herself, looking like she just won a court case He's got a funny way of using the same four chords for every song he makes He's called Bill and he plays with words, like a skill, yeah he's pretty great He said his 'official' friend died 'cause of a 'officiate' Yeah she's called Hannah and she plays the Joanna, grade eight but she's got no soul John's obsessed with fat ass and he's ten years old Oh, Dad's an 'Otis Reading at a wedding' type guy with the best voice you've ever heard He said, "Give me a date I can work on, my heart hurts" I get home on the 23rd I'll drive up on the 23rd I bumped into Julie in the Co-Op, she asked how the family's been I said 'Alex is a sculptor and Olivia's been a vegan since 10' Vin wears dresses whilst Debbie coalesces in a fleece that doesn't work And I'll be giving my chair to my mum 'cause her back hurts I get home on the 23rd I'll drive up on the 23rd Now mum's not a fan of that line about her back, she said it makes her sound frumpy and old I said "Woman, you are sixty-four years old" Now stop the percussion, I wanna have a discussion, and it's Christmas so this is gonna be a nightmare I just came for the stuffing, not to argue about nothing, mark my words, I'll be home on the 23rd Yeah, drive up on the 23rd Oh, come home on the 23rd
just when I think some of the lyrics are too dryly cynical and "meh" for me, the repetition of the line "I'm sorry if you're living and you're seventeen" gets me right in the heart; and that's why I love this band, the contradiction between the everyday and banal, and the tender and emotional
[Intro] Yeah, it's just like It should start, it just It should just come straight in And just be like- [Verse 1] She walks down the stairs, feeling herself Lookin' like she just won a court case He's got a funny way of using the same Four chords for every song he makes He's called Bill and he plays with words Like a skill, yeah he's pretty great He said his official friend died 'cause of a fish he ate Yeah, she's called Hannah and she plays the Joanna Grade eight but she's got no soul John's obsessеd with fat ass and he's ten years old Oh, Dad's an Otis Rеdding at a wedding type guy With the best voice you ever heard He said, "Give me a date I can work on, my heart hurts [Chorus] I get home on the twenty-third I'll drive up on the twenty-third [Verse 2] And I bumped into Julie in the co-op She asked how the family's been I said "Alex is a sculptor and Olivia's been a vegan since ten While Vin wears dresses while Debbie coalesces in a fleece that doesn't work" And I'll be givin' my chair to my mum 'cause her back hurts [Chorus] I get home on the twenty-third Yeah, I drive up on the twenty-third (Yeah, yeah) [Bridge] Now mum's not a fan of that line about her back She said it makes her sound frumpy and old I said, "Woman, you are sixty-four years old" [Verse 3] Now, stop the percussion, I wanna have a discussion And it's Christmas so this is gonna be a nightmare I just came for the stuffin', not to argue about nothin' Mark my words [Chorus] I'll be home on the twenty-third Yeah, I drive up on the twenty-third (Yeah, I come home on the twenty-third)
This sounds just awesome!👌💃 And this lyrics... omg!👍😄 It's like a funny little book with bright, colorful illustrations about a family Christmas. What a pleasure! I need this book completely!🙌😃❤ The album is a live fairy tale, amazing!💯💫
I just found this song this year, and I think it is really great! I have similar feelings sometimes.. And it's the 23 rd today..lol. I stayed home on the 23 rd. 😉
Catching up on my reading today…..The Week magazine from December 16, 2022 has this track included on their “Nine Songs to add to your December Playlist”. OK , better late than never. I LOVE IT
It’s ironic that the beginning of the song Matty says it should “just start it should just come straight in”. But it doesn’t just come straight in because that wouldn’t have sounded that great. So he put a lil intro in there
I wish Adam didn't have the compression at the end of the song, and would've left it getting more muddy sounding. Nevertheless... My favorite winter hymnal to get to my family from now on.... Thank you The 1975. You've been quite a rip in my Jean's ya know what I mean? ✌
Not once did I think I would be listening to a The 1975 Christmas song, yet here we are
Same
On God!!
That's funny because I always associate 1975 with Christmas time since they often have relaxed Christmas jazz sounding songs that revolve around romance in Winter so this felt like another natural entry, though more literal this time.
"....Now stop the percussion, I wanna have a discussion, and it's Christmas, so, this is gonna be a nightmare...".... Brilliant Matty
“I just came for the stuffing, not to argue about nothing
Mark my words, I’ll be home on the 23rd”

IT'S THAT TIME OF THE YEAR!
my entire year is just building up to this one day when i play wintering on loop for a day
The 1975 casually cooking up a top 5 christmas song as an album track in October:
This is the single most nostalgic piece of music I have ever been blessed with
Always reminds me of college and seeing all my friends and family at the bar to catch up home from school. All the laughs and good times in the snow.
Fun times!
This is deffo my favourite song of this album
Me too man
So underrated. It’s genius.
I SAID *WOMAN,* YOU ARE 64 YEARS OLD
already iconic
Cracked me up like
Needs the same energy as selling petroleum live
Nah autocorrect meant petrol station jeez 😭😂
It’s the new ‘selling petrol’
I’ve been passionately singing along “‘CAUSE OF A FISH HE ATE”
Ignorance really is bliss.
THANK YOU I was searching for this comment 😂
This song has taken on a new meaning now I am flying to see my girlfriend on the 22nd. We live in two different countries, Nepal and Thailand, and I only get to see her on school holidays as I'm a teacher here. "I'll be home on the 23rd." :)
"Give me a date I can work on, my heart hurts." Is so relatable.
This may be my favorite song for a while 💛
This song puts a smile on my face everytime
i have fangirled this group since the beginning and here they are making me fangirl harder
Same
This one has a unique vibe on the album, love it
This is by far one of my favorites on the album the lyrics are nothing less than genius and I’m so glad I can finally listen to this on Christmas! It’s such a vibe🤶🏻
Happy wintering everyone ❤

I get home on the 23rd
I'll drive up on the 23rd
I bumped into Julie in the Co-Op, she asked how the family's been
I said 'Alex is a sculptor and Olivia's been a vegan since 10'
Vin wears dresses whilst Debbie coalesces in a fleece that doesn't work
And I'll be giving my chair to my mum 'cause her back hurts

Oh, come home on the 23rd
Thank you 🤍
I think it's "cause of a fish he ate", not "officiate", I could be wrong tho
I think that is supposed to be the joke...
The funny part to me is that I always drive home on the 23rd, except for this year because blizzard in the Midwest.
Wintering Day.
Christmas Eve Eve.
Happy Holidays.
Happy New Year 2025, looking forward to The 1975 new music.
❤
This Christmas song is the only Christmas song I will listen to after Christmas, this is such a banger! Cant wait to see it live at the Anthem
A blessed Wintering Day to you all!
This is gonna be applicable when December hits!
Such great little details in their music, love how the piano comes in first when he talks about Hannah playing the piano
Never heard of this song till last week. Now I'm obsessed
Matty and the crew are back again! thanks for the Christmas tune boys.. You keep me going...
What a tune!!! Love it ❤
The 1975 always deliver
just when I think some of the lyrics are too dryly cynical and "meh" for me, the repetition of the line "I'm sorry if you're living and you're seventeen" gets me right in the heart; and that's why I love this band, the contradiction between the everyday and banal, and the tender and emotional
That’s not this song though
@@skunkpirates oops! you're right lol
True! Now it gets better than then :)
[Intro]
Yeah, it's just like
It should start, it just
It should just come straight in
And just be like-
[Verse 1]
She walks down the stairs, feeling herself
Lookin' like she just won a court case
He's got a funny way of using the same
Four chords for every song he makes
He's called Bill and he plays with words
Like a skill, yeah he's pretty great
He said his official friend died 'cause of a fish he ate
Yeah, she's called Hannah and she plays the Joanna
Grade eight but she's got no soul
John's obsessеd with fat ass and he's ten years old
Oh, Dad's an Otis Rеdding at a wedding type guy
With the best voice you ever heard
He said, "Give me a date I can work on, my heart hurts
[Chorus]
I get home on the twenty-third
I'll drive up on the twenty-third
[Verse 2]
And I bumped into Julie in the co-op
She asked how the family's been
I said "Alex is a sculptor and Olivia's been a vegan since ten
While Vin wears dresses while Debbie coalesces in a fleece that doesn't work"
And I'll be givin' my chair to my mum 'cause her back hurts
[Chorus]
I get home on the twenty-third
Yeah, I drive up on the twenty-third (Yeah, yeah)
[Bridge]
Now mum's not a fan of that line about her back
She said it makes her sound frumpy and old
I said, "Woman, you are sixty-four years old"
[Verse 3]
Now, stop the percussion, I wanna have a discussion
And it's Christmas so this is gonna be a nightmare
I just came for the stuffin', not to argue about nothin'
Mark my words
[Chorus]
I'll be home on the twenty-third
Yeah, I drive up on the twenty-third
(Yeah, I come home on the twenty-third)
Definitely my favourite from album
The most underrated song on the album.
This sounds just awesome!👌💃 And this lyrics... omg!👍😄 It's like a funny little book with bright, colorful illustrations about a family Christmas. What a pleasure! I need this book completely!🙌😃❤ The album is a live fairy tale, amazing!💯💫

The 23rd brought me here. Blizzard got me drivin’ up nowhere
It’s ironic that the beginning of the song Matty says it should “just start it should just come straight in”. But it doesn’t just come straight in because that wouldn’t have sounded that great. So he put a lil intro in there
I'd really love jack singing this one, he'll sound soooo goooood

I wish Adam didn't have the compression at the end of the song, and would've left it getting more muddy sounding. Nevertheless... My favorite winter hymnal to get to my family from now on.... Thank you The 1975. You've been quite a rip in my Jean's ya know what I mean? ✌
