Got these speakers a week ago and am seriously in love with them, a one off purchase that I usually can't afford. No regrets they are (to me) stunning to listen to.
for someone like me who loves vinyl but doesn't know much about turntables this was extremely helpful and useful to know I didn't need a pre amp and amp thank you so much!!!!
I've just started collecting LPs and most of my knowledge about the subject comes from your channel. I just bought the Klipsch R-15PM yesterday after watching this video. The sound produced is really amazing and I haven't turned it all the way up yet.
There really arent any "turntable speakers" like this, very few have a built in phono stage. Just get the best speakers you can. If you want a setup thats almost as simple as the one in this video, look for good powered speakers and get a seperate phono stage :)
I love my R-15PMs, and I got the sickest price for them this holiday season $199 plus $224 for a Klipsch R-120SW! THAT IS RIGHT $199 the whole set up cost me $424 plus tax and I think that is the cheapest anyone has gotten this set up for! Bought them from BestBuy for $279! Decided a few days later that I wanted a Subwoofer too since the R-120SW went on sale for $224 also at BestBuy and I realized my Amex had a $30 discount if I spent over $300! So I took my empty R-15PM box with me asked the guy at my local BestBuy to return my R-15PM speakers and I would buy it right back along with the Subwoofer so I get the discount from my credit cars, but when he rang them back up in the store they only rang up for $199 it was an unadvertised clearance sale they had at the STORE! :D HOW LUCKY CAN A MAN GET!
The digital port can also support a CD Player or Blu - ray/SACD/ DVD player as well. (SACD [Super Audio Compact Disc] players also need a surround hook up since SACD is a higher quality format that supports multi channel and 2 channel. It is truly an audiophile quality CD)
Klipsch speakers are amazing, I've got the KG5.2's hooked to my living room vinyl set up and I run another set the pro medias on my computer. I'm always reminded of an old saying my dad taught me, "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten" these speakers will last you years if taken care of and hold their value. Then we come to the primary factor which is sound, I can guarantee these sound amazing and will sound bigger than they are. I find it odd that anyone who collects vinyl and will drop 50 to 100 bucks on an album will then turn around and play it on 20 dollar speakers...that makes zero sense.
"Speaker has inputs for basically everything and Bluetooth, perfect all in one for a college student like me" -looks at price- "nah. I'll carry a pre-amp, amp, speakers, and cords to different dorms every year"
@ lol this comment was 4 years ago. I don't even remember the speaker (or the price) but my guess is that it was a ridiculous price, and you could get mid level products for better price. I was also a frugal college student because I didn't want to take out any loans.
I feel like such an idiot. All this time I had my turntable with the built-in amp switched to 'phono' and couldn't for the life of me get why no sound was coming out. Thank you!
Sounds great, but $499 is a bit out of my budget for now. Love all the options and would love to have a pair to listen with my turntable or smartphone. On my wishlist!
I bought the R14M's. They're passive speakers, but they're excellent. I've also heard the R15M's and if these powered speakers are anything like that, you've got some brilliant speakers.
Hello. Could you do a review and maybe a comparison video fo the newer models - R-51PM and R-41PM. I am very interested to know if the newer models are worth the price upgrade or not. Thansk and keep up the great work!
+Vinyl Eyezz I love Klipsch speakers. The horn tweeter projects the sound right at the listener. BTW the brass color is actually a ceramic coating that gives the drivers more stability. I bought them because a Klipsch speaker doesn't add anything to the sound of the recording.
Hi Jarred, I felt compelled to share with you that I just purchased a pair of Klipsch R-15M AND an Onkyo TX-8020 receiver for $65.00 at an Estate sale. Of course they don't have the internal amp, bluetooth, etc. but I hope they sound as good as you described them. I also got a pair of Edifier R1700BT bluetooth speakers. Have you heard about them? Any comments about them? I value your input! P.S. You don't suck! Whoever made that statement is a total idiot! I'm 58 y/o and have a very humble collection of LPs, CDs and reel-to-reel tapes (adding it little by little to my Discogs account). I keep hoping to find an AudioTechnica turntable like yours in another sale. For now I'm happy with my Technics SL-Q212 which I found at a Salvation Army store years ago!
@@foxjade8924 kinda weird, five years later and i’m seeing them at half that price. I just bought a pair of the Edifier R1700BTs speakers for $160 a couple days ago. This is the first I’m hearing of these Klipsch speakers, but if they are that good and are suited to exactly what I’m looking for, maybe I could’ve bought those instead and wouldn’t have had to worry about purchasing a preamp. I definitely would’ve done it if I had seen that big price drop
great upload as always .. i recently purchased a pair of klipsh R 51PM’s to use with my Fluance RT85 would you recommend any isolation feet or pads etc. for these monitors? and if so which would you prefer over the other, which brand etc.? thank you so very much in advance for your time i look forward to hearing from you! i also just purchased a iFi - ZEN Phono Desktop MM/MC Phono Stage for this set up. would it be better in your opinion to just stick with straight to klipsh? thanks again brother! hope to hear from you.
I've got these speakers hooked up to my LP120. I received them in the mail 2 days ago. The first day they worked perfect. When I flip the power switch on back you can hear the speakers turn off but still nothing during playback. I have tried everything. Anyone have any tips?
I wouldn't have a turntable but I would want to hook up a CD player can I use the turntable outlet for a CD player that doesn't have an amplifier that's something you didn't discuss but I'm going to get the speakers
Hi Jarrett. Very nice review, Do not put speakers on the same Table or even near the Player. Get them on Proper Stands. This will tighten up the Treble and Bass. Does the Bass get Directed to the Sub when connected. Did You run them In before the Review this makes a Big difference. Cheers.
I just purchased these speakers for my setup and will be installing them tonight. Do you notice any vibration issues with the speakers being on the same surface as your turntable?
Interested in how heavier stuff like The Acacia Strain, Between The Buried and Me, and everything in-between sound on these speakers. I feel most reviewers gear towards pop, hip-hop, rap, and alternative as reference points. Which is fair since those are more standard and easily accessible, but since my record collection is mainly made up metal and hardcore, those other genres don't seem to accurately represent the majority of my collection. If anyone personally knows , or could point me in the direction of another channel, article, or reviewer that touches on this subject, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
As far as I know external pre-amps don't need grounding. Old fashioned (and some new/decent non-USB) record players do. That's why there's a ground thingy on (hi-fi) amplifiers that have a built-in phono pre-amp and on (most) external phono pre-amps.
+Vinyl Eyezz I've had turntables in the past with a grounding terminal and if it came loose from the amp connection you would hear an annoying AC hum. If your turntable does but your amp doesn't have one you can simply solder a crocodile clip to the wire and connect it to the amp's chassis somewhere unobtrusive.
Isn't the ground connector for hooking your turntable to it ? I mean, decent turntables also do have a single ground wire, that connects to the chassis.
Hi Jarrett, great video and very good info. But do you use your turntable using the built in pre-amp and run it into the line-setting on these speaker or do u use the phono-settings on the audiotechnika and run it into the pre-amp of the Klipsch? Which option souds better?
+Cletus Awreetus-Awrightus seriously? Don't your jealousy show through, bro. By the way, why are you on RUclips, doesn't a major corporation own and operate it. Uh oh!!
Great videos. Thank you very much ! I have a question that I hope that you can answer. How do the KLIPSCH R-15PM sound compared to the Klipsch RP-150M ? Is the quality the same, more or less? I'm looking to buy an Audio Technica AT LP120 HS10 and I want to pair it with some quality speakers. I'm wondering if there is a significant sound difference between the two speakers above. If there is a significant difference then I will buy the RP 150M and of course an amplifier... However it would be nice not to if the sound is the same :) I hope you can help me further as your videos so far helped a lot ! I'm just on the final step. Thanks !
I have a Fluance RT81, with internal preamp, and whether i use the speaker preamp or the turntable preamp there is a hum that I cannot get rid of! Thw higher the volume the louder it gets. Yes ground wire is connected, gets louder if it isn't. If the speaker preamp is being used it is slightly louder than if I use the turntable preamp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Great video, however I do have a question... am I able to use a small amplifier of Swords to give these even more power? Assuming I have the right connections, could I just go into the phono and then ports if i want to amplify my bluetooth experience or would that essentially not work?
I previously posted a negative opinion on these speakers, but after they've had a chance to break in, they sound awesome. I apologize for my original post because it was premature. Just want to set the record straight.
hey Jarrett. .. really good review, I'm seriously considering picking up these pair of speakers. .. just wanted some insight on a powered subwoofer ... any recommendations ?
So based on your time with these speakers would you recommend these to replace your stand alone receiver and speaker combination?? Also, I assume the grounding screw on the back could be used for older record players with a ground wire?
+Travis D If you want to only play vinyl records, then it's a good choice. Yeah, you can use that ground post for older style record players that have a ground wire.
I am really interested in these speakers; I just got the audio technica LP 120 for Christmas based on your recommendations. I am a big fan of your videos and how thorough you are when explaining. My main question for these speakers, since they are Bluetooth, can I use my wireless Beats studio headphones? I'm not interested in buying a receiver at this time due to too much clutter where I have my setup.
I have a pair of Edifier R1700BT bluetooth speakers. I don't really care for the bluetooth, but I asked them for Christmas before the non-bluetooth were back in stock. They're pretty good, but I've yet to see how loud they get, and the bass can be a bit much sometimes.
Hi wondering what will be the differences in sound terms between this but the pasive ones wich I belive will be the same performance and the RP-150 tha you reviewed? thanks in advance... I am looking for a good pair of speakers for my first vinyl setup, and I am under a budget. My main choise at this time is a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 40 Series but I have read so many good thing about this brand.
What are the speaker cases made of ? Is it wood or some metal (aluminum) ? And I've never been a big fan of compact speakers. Because my turntable isn't where I get my Hi-Fi fix, I've always liked the old and sturdy 3-ways speakers from the 70s. I have a pair or Celestion Ditton 22 and a pair of Marantz HD600, both in perfect condition and I love the vintage British sound of the Ditton. The sound quality is great, slightly coloured, with good natural bass thanks to the massive wooden cases and unlike those Klipsch, you can get them for like 30$ at a yard sale. So unless you want a high fidelity set up, don't blow all your money on speakers, get some vintage ones for almost nothing -because they don't make them like that anymore and those babies are built to last.
I have a question, I am new to vinyl. I have the Audio Technica lp60 and I bought these speakers but I am confused on what the second speaker is for? This may be a dumb question but help is appreciated
I recently bought a great soundcard for my pc and I'm looking up for speakers just like these. Your video was extremely helpful, thank you! =) I love how these speakers allow for a lot of different equipments. And speaking of which: can I plug in my xbox 360 via optical cable or is there a better solution?
I'm planning on buying the audio technica at60 and don't really know what speakers to buy. All the pages and. videos I've visited just confused me and just wanted to know if all I need is speakers with rca and volume control to get sound out
Can I connect a turntable and a CD player to these speakers at the same time ? there are only one RCA input. I am kind of new on this stuff. Look forward to your advice. thanks. Nice vid !
Hello Guys! I have a question. I have a Sony str-ks360 5.1 Channel Home Theater System receiver with the speakers and subwoofer. Can I plug this to my audio technica LP-120? The Sony receiver does have a red and white connector. What do you think? Would this work or would it damage my turntable? How would you recommend connecting them? Thank you!
i too have the audiotechnica lp120 and these speakers, however when i plug it directly into the phono input i just get loud static/popping, but if i plug it into the aux adapter and then to the the aux hole it works. is this normal? or is my turntable faulty?
Like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia. Seriously, klipsch makes some amazing speakers. I've owned a pair of Klipsch RF-7 II's for 5 years and I'm still impressed every time I listen to them. Bose, Sony, Polk Audio, and a few other brands don't come close.
+LewRolling as a rule of thumb I don't usually recommend the "all-in-one" turntables. Their design looks similar to the Crosley, being that it has the small built in speakers and no counter weight. I'd recommend a U-Turn Orbit or an Audio Technica LP-120 instead! And thanks for watching!
Nice review. Can i use this With my Pioneer Elite 140W per Channel Reciver? This is what i would like to do. Use them for back yard BBQ's Via Blue Tooth. I want to be able to use them for Left and Right Surround Only using the Receiver to power them up, and no wall outlet power. Is that possible with these speakers?
I am seriously considering these speakers since my old receiver went kaput. I know you said the sound quality is good but how does the quality compare to large stereo speakers?
Ano po ba magandang speaker na maganda tunog ikakabit sa desktop comp para sa recording buo at maganda ang tunog hindi tunog lata yung pasok lang sa budget para sa mahirap na gaya ko luds???

+NoxMD I believe these are made out of wood. They're pretty sturdy and heavy, built very solid.
Question... Will any computers USB port work with these speakers or does it have to be a dedicated "USB audio" port??
I have a question, I am new to vinyl. I have the Audio Technica lp60 and I bought these speakers but I am confused on what the second speaker is for? This may be a dumb question but help is appreciated
Hi, would you still recommend these speakers and the audio techica LP120? Thanks.
I recently bought a great soundcard for my pc and I'm looking up for speakers just like these. Your video was extremely helpful, thank you! =) I love how these speakers allow for a lot of different equipments. And speaking of which: can I plug in my xbox 360 via optical cable or is there a better solution?
If your turntable has a preamp, would you get better sound quality going phono instead of line? I have an audio technica lp60
Look forward to your advice. thanks. Nice vid !
If I use AUX to connect CD player, the audio quality is the same when comparing to using RCA input? sorry for my ignorance.
Can you connect headphones to it?
Are they’re any other really good quality speakers for cheap that would go along with the lp120?
this has subwoofer out, but does it manage the crossover settings itself?
Roman Hernandez did you turn off the preamp on the turntable?
How would you compare Klipsch's bookshelf speakers to Polk Audio?
Like comparing a Mercedes to a Kia. Seriously, klipsch makes some amazing speakers. I've owned a pair of Klipsch RF-7 II's for 5 years and I'm still impressed every time I listen to them. Bose, Sony, Polk Audio, and a few other brands don't come close.
so basically you can get by without a receiver?
can you hook them up to a receiver?
Can you do a video on more affordable speakers? because unfortunately I don't have the money for $500.00 speakers right now
Whats your opinion on GPO stylo turntables? Also I love your videos, keep up the work!
+LewRolling as a rule of thumb I don't usually recommend the "all-in-one" turntables. Their design looks similar to the Crosley, being that it has the small built in speakers and no counter weight. I'd recommend a U-Turn Orbit or an Audio Technica LP-120 instead! And thanks for watching!
would it work alright hooking a cd player up to the phono inputs?
good review. just curious did you do a break-in period on the cones before the review.
How do they compare to the more expensive Rp-150 ?
Since these have all the components, if I have a fluency rt85 then I can basically plug em straight in because they have everything I need?
Asking because the rt-85 doesn’t have a preamp
Why are they cheaper than the 150PM while those are passive?
so I don't need rca or receiver to make my speaker hear the sound from my sub woofer? on this R15pm?
Can you use them with an old NAD amplifier?
i've used mine for a couple of weeks and really love them but often the bluetooth doesnt want to connect, any tips?
Nice review. Can i use this With my Pioneer Elite 140W per Channel Reciver?
This is what i would like to do. Use them for back yard BBQ's Via Blue Tooth. I want to be able to use them for Left and Right Surround Only using the Receiver to power them up, and no wall outlet power. Is that possible with these speakers?
Will this work with a cassette tape deck? I'm assuming it will.
