She certainly isn't promoting Christianity. So what do you perceive that she is promoting? Whats the point in all this would be my question. How does this help to grow anyone spiritually?
@@mattdrexler8553 Hi Matt, I think part of the point of the work that Axis does is to help parents and youth workers to understand what is happening in the culture so that they can meaningfully engage and provide direction. We don't have to like a trend, but it can be very important to understand it. It's where many of the teens in our culture are receiving information. I guess to make a comparison, it's a little like when Jesus talks about a king who goes away to receive his kingdom. Jesus uses this to point to himself, but the king in question is most likely Herod. Why would Jesus use such an obvious villain to teach a spiritual truth? I think it is because it is something accessible and familiar that can help people understand something about God... even from something that is not normally worth emulating.
The point is to show an icon your teen might be interested in, what she is promoting, and why she is trending on social media. Our hope is to give you insight into what's happening in culture and to give you questions to help you connect with your teen and see what their thoughts are on it. We can't speak to the personal theological convictions (or lack thereof) of any individual, even a famous person. What we try to do at Axis is offer information that equips. Our coverage of Taylor Swift is not meant to be an endorsement of her, but an acknowledgment of her powerful influence as a culture shaper this year.
I enjoyed this. My daughter is a Swiftie and this gives me a good opportunity to teach her about Eben-ezer.
This was super helpful. I've seen other bands like Switchfoot doing the "our version" release and I wondered what it meant
The fact that she promoting witchcraft to her fans is a big concern.
Hey there, what causes you to believe that Taylor Swift is promoting witchcraft?
