- Drake's Cake Walk, composed by Edwin F. Kendall in 1909.
Edwin Kendall is a fairly new-to-me composer who has some excellent pieces to his name, including this cake walk jingle which was literally written for cake! The Drake Brothers Company opened their first bakery in Brooklyn in 1896, and later commissioned Kendall in 1909 to write this piece to help advertise their wares. The 'jingle' is rather short and sweet, and seems to have been successful because "Drake's Cakes" are actually still around today.

The music speaks for itself, just close the eyes and see the title scene.
Great playing!
A piece of cake to have again! Well played as always.
Your rendition takes the cake, and I've added a link back to here from my recent upload of "Drake's Cake Walk". Edwin F. Kendall is fast becoming one of my favorite composers. He wrote some great rags, marches and other stuff, but seems to get relatively little recognition in the modern era.
Thanks very much! And yes, agreed. I discovered this piece a few months ago but everything else I've listened to of Kendall's since then has been quite good.
One of my favorites! Great music and playing ❤
Thank you, Scott! 😊
Bravo! You win the cake!
