Hi Emma this will be Einstein 's lady friend, this is the time of year they pair up. She will follow him about and he will feed her. Look out for baby Einstines in the spring xxx
Only male robins have the red breast females are plain brown. They're both males. Male robins are territorial and won't tolerate another robin in their space so one will probably be chased away.
This is not correct. Female's do have red breast. They are very similar and the only way to tell the difference is by behaviours, the male provides food for the female this time of year. It's not often you see two males together, Robins are very territorial and two males will usually fight over their territory and females .
The allotment is looking fabulous. Great job Emma. I think Einstein has a girlfriend and you may be hostess to a little robin family in the spring. That is so cute that Einstein wanted you to meet her.
Emma, could you do a post where you bravely tackle your spider shed,it will make Spring much nicer if your tools are all organised and you can get in your shed. You have done an amazing job clearing your second plot, can't wait to see what you grow this year.
I always say hello Grandad. I never knew him but he always grew veg and loved wildlife. I think he had a robin watch over him too. As they say. When a robin is here, a loved one is near. ❤
Hey Emma im so impressed with your progress on the new plot it looks fantastic the transformation it’s amazing I can’t wait till spring to see what your going to plant this year…idea for the pumpkin arch add some climbing beans aswell it will look great having beans hanging down so you can pick them whilst waiting for the pumpkins to grow. Take care Kelly xx
I use the really thick plastic to cover my compost bay, keeps it warmer and stops it getting too wet. Maybe einsteins friend could be newton or Darwin x
I love your videos Emma. I use my old and no longer useful wheelbarrow as a planter, as well as my grandchildren's mini one; they're lovely filled with flowers.
Aww Mr & Mrs Einstein 💕 It has been such a joy to watch you transform your new plot , so looking forward to seeing it blossom over this growing season .
The plants will survive on their own, as soon as the frosts go and it starts to warm up then the plants will spring back into life. Congratulations 30k. Although you are not digging the robins ( Einstein & Friend) are looking for any food live or otherwise that maybe under your rubbish, chances are they will soon be breeding.
I did I big archway with tromboncino squash last year still eating them now, got a total of 85 squash from 5 plants 😂 might just plant 2 seed this year!
I'd maybe put flowers on the inside of the pumpkin tunnel frame. Think flowers on either side would look so nice. Or would things that suffer in direct hot sun work like lettuce? Or would the reduced light stunt their growth too much? I think you would want a large-ish mesh size for going over the top of the tunnel. Maybe two or three inch squares. Also think the tunnel is probably long enough to maybe have some french beans or something as well as the pumpkins. Or maybe even some sweet peas. It's going to look great when covered with foliage.
Hi Emma thanks for your updates. The new plot has changed so much. I can't believe how much you have done. You have done such an amazing job... You always make me smile and laugh so thank you I know when I'm having a bad day, you always cheer me up. Take care for now X
When you’ve had a poo day at work and you come home to find Emma’s uploaded an allotment video and you can sit down with a banana Makgeolli and relax! (If you have a Korean supermarket near you, and your over 18, give Makgeolli a go! It’s beaut!) 👍🏻🤙🏻🤣🤣
Emma the plants will bounce back once the frost is over. Fleece is fabric, your netting is enviromesh which is very fine nylon/ polymer. Just a thought but you could use your old poly tunnel cover to line your compost bin.
Maybe all the plastic groundsheets were just used to suppress weeds. It works well but it looks like the plastic may have stiffined as it aged. Perhaps it was more flexible originally so it would have been easier to lay flat and may have been easy to fold away and store. It's a pity it doesn't last long because it's very wasteful. I think cutting and disposing is the probably the best option if you can't see it being useful.
I love your channel. I’m not necessarily going to follow all of your advice but I absolutely enjoy every upload and it has given me the courage to just whack it in!.
Hiya Emma, agree that a good tidy and some organizing done now will benefit. Like you said to hard to plant etc. oh perhaps the kids could help? Anywhoo blessings luv Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 🐝
I think it was netting that you have over your kale, it won't provide much protection from frost unfortunately Frost cloth is a very finely woven fabric, like a really thin fleece, it's not translucent. The poly tunnel plastic could be used to cover your compost to try and keep some heat in. Love watching the transformation.
Hi Emma, I don’t have an allotment and I don’t grow veg, but I love watching your videos! You are such an entertaining and fun person, I always watch with a smile on my face! You are doing such a good job on your allotment and have worked so hard! Well done and keep up all the good work with all your wildlife friends ❤( animals are always a good judge of character) thank you for uploading so many great videos.
The netting is to prevent birds/insects to intact your plants therefore itis a mesh. It can be fine or rough but still mesh. Whereas fleece is for protecting from frost and therefore it is a fluffy thing - never ever a mesh but a fluffy stuff.
The plants leaves droop in the frost to save energy, or somthing like that, can't remember the official reason but Google it, they will spring back up in the sun
It's looking so good. Those plants will bounce back, but definitely will appreciate some cover. What are you going to start your peppers and tomatoes?? I haven't started mine. I know people are though.
Hi Emma. I do believe you're supposed to keep the fleece out of direct contact with the leaves of the plant, to avoid freeze damage..I hope your broccoli made it through to the warmer temperatures of this week.
I think the one on the wheelbarrow wasn't Einstein. I've never noticed a rise in the red on the center of Einstein's chest. Temperature got up to -7.5C here today.
Use the fire bin emma it will help u warm up and get rid of sone of the rubbish, brilliant idea to bag up the plastic take a bit each time u visit and the allotment will look tidier in no time xxx
@@emmasallotmentdiaries we trust u Emma just keep it in the confines of the bin, stand the bin on earth so if u get a spark it won’t set anything alight. If u let it start to die down and hour before u leave it will be fine xx
If you put mesh on top of your pumpkin arch how will you reach the pumpkins off the the top of it. You've done a great job getting that jungle clear 👍👍😍😍
Hi Emma you may need to fasten down your fleece a little more. Have you any bricks? Any wind or another storm joselyn will certainly blow it away never to be seen again.
Next time make a little fire in your burning bin near the plants to warm the air up around them i have 3 bins just rotate them and burn off the rubbish at the same time
Erm.... Pumpkins won't hang down, they'll break off with the weight. They're really better along the ground. Couldn't you use your arch for something a bit smaller maybe ? Cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, peas etc etc ?
Hi Emma this will be Einstein 's lady friend, this is the time of year they pair up. She will follow him about and he will feed her. Look out for baby Einstines in the spring xxx

@@eleanorsplace-alternativel9896 males and females both have red breast, but female likely to be a bit larger and less brightly coloured

It's not often you see two males together, Robins are very territorial and two males will usually fight over their territory and females .
Wow, I can't wait to see that. Thank for pointing that out.
The allotment is looking fabulous. Great job Emma. I think Einstein has a girlfriend and you may be hostess to a little robin family in the spring. That is so cute that Einstein wanted you to meet her.
Now is a great time to clear out the spiders as they won't be active in cold weather.
Emma, could you do a post where you bravely tackle your spider shed,it will make Spring much nicer if your tools are all organised and you can get in your shed. You have done an amazing job clearing your second plot, can't wait to see what you grow this year.
I think I’ll have no choice but to calls the shed soon!! X
Every Robin I see, either in my garden or on my allotment, I call Rusty… I love them.
I call mine mr Darcy ❤
I always say hello Grandad. I never knew him but he always grew veg and loved wildlife. I think he had a robin watch over him too.

Cattle panels with t post works like a charm for pumpkin

I can't wait emma for this year on your allotment progress
I love your videos Emma. I use my old and no longer useful wheelbarrow as a planter, as well as my grandchildren's mini one; they're lovely filled with flowers.
I think I’ll do this with mine too! X
11:09 a love the relationship with Einstein ❤😊 x
I would put a shady seating area under that pumpkin archway... otherwise time to evict the spiders from the wee shed 😂❤
warming up slowly 💥💥💥💥💥💥
Congratulations on reaching 30K 🎉🎉🎉
Aww Mr & Mrs Einstein 💕 It has been such a joy to watch you transform your new plot , so looking forward to seeing it blossom over this growing season .
Me too!! X
Fabulous vlog Emma, einstein's found a friend how sweet, be careful with using mesh as birds can get caught in mesh
Environmesh type row covering, like this, is fine. It’s the larger gauge netting, with bigger holes, that causes problems for birds and small mammals.
3:47 hi emma fleece to keep plants warm( stick it ova ya broccoli theyll thank ya later netting to keep pests out ❤😊x
It looks like netting but any extra layer can help.
Fleece is more fragile and keep plants covered and warmer. Mesh has tiny holes to stop insects. Both keep birds out.
Better put up a nesting box quickly then!!
30 thousand subscribers now your vlogs always good emma
You are a ray of sunshine ☀️
I did I big archway with tromboncino squash last year still eating them now, got a total of 85 squash from 5 plants 😂 might just plant 2 seed this year!
Don't worry about the frost Emma on those plants it won't bother them at all they are hardy....
that brown metal bin is for burning stuff in thats if your allowed to burn wood and brambles on your site
Emma, you’re doing brilliant job and I love your channel❤

How odd that both Mr and Mrs Einstein love hanging out with you ... Nice 😂🎉🦜
It’s amazing how much animals love you when you start feeding them! 😂😂
If you collect empty plastic bottles, you can put them over the ends of the sticks so that they don’t stab through the netting.

Also, FYI, you can use old compost bags as a weed suppressing membrane. 👍🏻🤙🏻
The plants will be fine. They are hardy winter veg.

Was thinking the same.🐝🇨🇦
Great vlog,I’ve just started an allotment and another allotmenteer watches your vlogs,we think you are brilliant cheer us up 😊
Clever way to get rid of that awful plastic 👍🏻✂️💕🌱🌱🌱
You go mr& Mrs with the brids

Brilliant as ever not a fair weather gardener myself always something to do can you talk about seeds again please ooo ta from Sheffield
You could Use some of the longer tree branches you cut down to reinforce your arch way
Just purchased your planner hun. 😊
I love that Einstein brings friends 😀. U r brave! I am waiting for above zero Celsius to do anything in the garden. Can u comment with pictures?

Lay the fleece directly over the plants and then put heavy stones here and there so it doesn’t blow away x
Two robins….Ein and Stein.
It's looking so good. Those plants will bounce back, but definitely will appreciate some cover.
What are you going to start your peppers and tomatoes?? I haven't started mine. I know people are though.
Hi Emma 👋 both your plots look amazing you have done an amazing job & worked so hard . I love you vlogs.....thank you for sharing with us xx

You don't need to put fleece over tham. The plat will be fine with out it

Jump? 😂
I think Einstein has found a mate, as two males would not tolerate such closeness!!
They are stroppy little sods Robins!❤😂
They lead a wife swapping, territory grabbing, mafia lifestyle lol! But we all just love them! ❤️❤️❤️
Chances are the other robin is the opposite sex to Einstein otherwise they would fight they might be getting ready to nest
Hi Emma you may need to fasten down your fleece a little more. Have you any bricks? Any wind or another storm joselyn will certainly blow it away never to be seen again.
Emma do yall not use the winter cloth?
Next time make a little fire in your burning bin near the plants to warm the air up around them i have 3 bins just rotate them and burn off the rubbish at the same time
Yes was wondering about the fire bin.🇨🇦🐝
Did the chance happen?
Why don't you put some MULCH, like straw on your frozen Broccoli and sprouts ?
☃️
Erm.... Pumpkins won't hang down, they'll break off with the weight. They're really better along the ground. Couldn't you use your arch for something a bit smaller maybe ? Cucumbers, beans, tomatoes, peas etc etc ?
Erm.. I’ve grown a pumpkin archway for over 4 years now and it’s never snapped. I grow mini pumpkins, not massive ones!
Every time Emma finds a bit of material she’s not sure what it is, can we all just yell “ASBESTOS!” Please? 😂
😂😂 can we please not! I nearly had a heart attack reading those comments! 😂
Straw around your Brocolli I mean Em x
Im pretty sure female robins dont have a red chest, but correct me if im wrong ❤
Burn the non plastic rubbish and use the ash to feed your beds.
No need to cut those big sheets just fold fold fold into small packages
They literally won’t fold! They are thick plastic! X
It’s netting
Einstein has a spouse
You could call einstein's girlfriend..ALBERTA........
Fantastisch Good work Emma's you the best te Vlissdoed thans te video Top 🎽👍🌞☕🧤🧣🧢💖🎈💐🥦🐦🐦
