Having done the Arthurs 4 times east to west (three times starting from Farmhouse Creek) I still don't understand why most people do it west - east. Yes, Chappo's notes write it that way, the rationale being it's better to have the weather on your back. A more important rationale in my humble view is the trip profile. East to west is easier because you you are climbing up the steeper bits which is easier than downclimbing them. Interested in your thoughts Mowser.
Great comment! I have been into the Eastern Arthurs in both directions many times over the past 30 years but have only done the trips that included the western arthurs in the west to east direction. For a future trip of another full traverse of both ranges I definately plan to do it from East to west. I'd much rather get the approach from Farmhouse and up moss ridge out of the way in the first week of such a trip. On our 26 day south west epic in 2004 we started at Farmhouse for this exact reason. My last full traverse of both ranges was west to east and the last 3 days was AWFUL. The whole 2 week trip it rained and Cracroft valley full of water and broken creeks was a dismal and very challenging way to finish. Would have much preferred a junction creek exit on that occasion!
Still a great trip, I see. Thanks lads for crediting my photos of Lovers Leap. I was interested to see how "The Leap" has been bypassed sometime in the decades since we did the Traverse (December, 1969).
Haha, glad you think it's still a great trip! We couldn't resist using your awesome photos, they really added to the video. And yeah, "The Leap" has definitely taken a backseat to modern traversing techniques. Safety first, right? I cannot imagine what the trip would have been like in 1969! What an adventure!
True enough. :) The traverse in 1969 was quite different. There were no board walks or tent platforms in camping areas and damage .the environnment was already becoming evedent. Do youhave any photos/videos of the Lovers Leap bypass? I'd like to see what the alternative looks like. 😃 @@mowsertas

It does make such a difference. Love Arc’Teryx and it is so tough! Enjoy the Arthurs! I cannot wait to get back.
