I think the key thing with regards to shipping costs is to *not* look at the costs separately - Figure out the total (game + VAT or other taxes + shipping) and decide if the final number is worth it. I sometimes see people whining about shipping on a project where the main pledge itself is super cheap and the total is completely reasonable, but people have decided that X% being shipping is unacceptable and it makes no sense to me 😆
A few years ago my wife and I went to Spain for our honeymoon. We went to La Sagrada Familia and we went to a nearby game store and I was shocked that they didn’t sell Sagrada there. Then again, maybe they were just sold out as I can imagine it being a popular game there.
Wow, gotta say I never expected a "Dog, the Bounty Hunter" reference when I clicked on the video! The breadth of Matthew's cultural knowledge is truly amazing. No wonder he's able to answer all the internet's burning questions!!!
I needed a reason to stop backing games, I realized I can get more games not in my collection for cheaper than the Kickstarter. Most of the time you can get a deluxe or KS version cheaper a few months later. 😊
The marble museum in Devon sells board games, mainly puzzle type board games - I bought one of course, Quarto, great little game. Also, much better museum than I expected, really interesting.
Excellent stuff as always Mathew. I think Ticket to Ride at The National Train museum in York would sell. I've recently got a copy of Viking See Saw that I've been trying to get for ages.
Welp, wonder bowling is on my list to find in Tokyo… that reminds me, Matthew, send me your list of things to look out for if you want! As for the Kickstarter stuff - I’m increasingly turning away from games on Kickstarter because… shipping. But I do often do a £1 pledge for the pledge manager later. If I’m still interested, I can go more in. If I’m not, then I’m good, it was only a quid
Our family has been to many national parks here in the U.S. and of course their associated gift shops. Not one copy of Parks or Trekking the National Parks to be seen.
I always scratch the old barnet and get splinters as to why? Places do not sell games associated with them, except when I lived in Anglsey and bought the Monopoly (Sorry everyone). But I always go to Games Lore or Board game basement, defo my go to.

Absolutely. To me it's never a $50 game plus $50 shipping, nor is it a $90 game with "only" $10 shipping. That's a $100 game.
I bought Sheriff of Nottingham while I visited Nottingham some years back. I found it funny, so I kept the receipt 😀

Zoo gift shops - Ark Nova, New York Zoo, Wingspan, Zooloretto, Barenpark etc.

The citie du vin museum in Bordeaux sells viticulture essentials, which was cool!
My favorite (bought a copy after just a few plays on BGA) is Nanatoridori. So good!

Great video! Great questions and answers!
Thailand has some great and unique games as well, but they can be tough to import

Sell train games at the food area on trains which you're on all day bored with tables.
Tulip Bubble is a great Asian game!
Hahhaha if Monique and Naveen did the review, all the better is a legit condition I'm using to choose campaigns these days
New Mill Industries is doing great work in reprinting Japanese trick-taking games. Which has been, troublesome for my wallet.
