Your thinking is right, but to more salient issues: Neither the right to an education is mentioned nor the right to marry the person you love (even in a heterosexual marriage). But, the 9th Amendment does say: That the Constitution is not meant to demonstrate all the "rights" people can have.

What angers me about this ruling is that one of the greatest advocates for reversing Roe v Wade, is Clarence Thomas, a man who refused to recuse himself from a case before the SC involving his wife, a clear violation of the rules of the court.

The first thing I did after they overturned Roe v Wade was refer back to the Bill of Rights and I saw that clear as day. It makes absolutely no sense why they did what they did! I understand that the federal government can only enact laws on several areas and then the rest falls under state jurisdiction to decide for themselves. But it seems to me this amendment gives them authority to decide on certain matters. And in the case of Roe v Wade plus accompanying Supreme Court decisions, there was no need to reverse established precedent.
Right, it's a reference to common law rights traditionally held in common law lands. There are several dozen other countries using common law, and NONE of their courts have detected such an automatic right to abortion stemming from tradition. The only court to find so was the US court in '73. EVERY other country with legal abortion has legal abortion thanks to a law legalizing abortion. Either that 1973 court was somehow smarter than every other court on the planet, or they were wrong.

Gun rights should be treated the same. When the second amendment was written into law with the right to bear arms, the arms mentioned were single shot muskets. If every amendment and law is to be treated as to that era, then ban all guns except single shot rifles.

Verb clause: ... shall not be infringed. I do not think that conclusion is actually fair. I mean you do have people who are not registered to vote and can not drive for medical reason's like me who would of voted to keep Roe vs wade if I could. The one thing I find funny in a sad way, all these people celebrating the overturning of Roe V. Wade, and the ones who will join in celebrating when they attack LGBT rights next…don’t seem to realize this is just the beginning. More and more rights will be stripped as the find they can do so easily, and a lot of the celebrators will find themselves on the side being targeted. Even those who don’t celebrate but look the other way essentially, because it doesn’t affect them, will one day wake up with something being taken away that does. The biggest problem I have with this decision is not that Roe was gutted, but that stare decisis has been gutted. No longer can we have confidence in the certainty of case law and precedent. Now a court can simply overturn a decision because it thinks it's wrong simply because it doesn't like it.

Contractions during labor is a piece of cake! compared to a kidney stone. One itty-bitty tiny stone was the result of all that pain. Even a very bad toothache was less painful than a kidney stone. We need to stop referring to the "Supreme Court" as a court. We need to stop referring to people who were put on this "court" to legislate from the bench as "justices", and it is long past the time for people to make it clear that "rulings" that are the result of a packed "court" have no legitimacy. If these "rulings" came from a court with a good balance of ideologies and justices that received strong bi-partisan support, then I would still disagree with it, but would accept it as the result of a legitimate court.
Good point. I think rulings like this have the real possibility of undermining the legitimacy of the court. In a democracy, without legitimacy the court is powerless. The same goes with Congress. The moment the people stop listening to what they decide, it's over. These radical "Justices" should do well in remembering that they only hold as much power as the people give them. Also , as I see it, this ruling crosses the line between church and state. So if the church is forcing their doctrine into law then the church needs to be taxed to support the children they are forcing to be born. So I guess we could say that there should be two child support checks for every woman forced into this condition starting at 6 weeks from conception.

At his confirmation hearing in 2006, Alito promised to keep an open mind on abortion cases and to respect stare decisis, the legal principle by which precedent takes on increasing importance. He lied. If he lied then, how can we trust him now?
This maneuvering of the law by the right wing has blurred a line between church and state. The implication are that church doctrine is becoming the law of the land, opening up the church institutions to be taxed in order to fund that religious doctrine. Also in doing this Alito has dissolved all legal precedents upon which law has been established. That's making the supreme Court the supreme lawmaker. I find it telling that when Justice Thomas listed other rights that should be consider based on overturning Roe, he neglected to include interracial marriage. Oh, wait. That would affect HIM.
Its worth noting, as horrendous as all this is, they can't go back and nullify legally obtained marriages. Ex post facto clause protects those already wed, and the interstate commerce clause requires states to accept the marriages legally performed in other states. No ruling he ever makes will affect him. It'll affect all the people behind them.

While it is a foundational document and an aspirational document, it has no legal force. The closest we have is the Preamble: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." But, since the Preamble is also aspirational, it has no legal force as far as Alito is concerned. He went out of his way to return our Union to a less perfect state, establish Injustice, reduce domestic Tranquility, decrease the general Welfare, and demonstrate that the Blessings of Liberty cannot be secured.

Since the court did away with America's wishes I see no legal reason that the U.S. govt can't legally overrule Alito's life. After all, if the govt. chooses it, it is automatically legal, as Alito himself has already proven. The fact that our elected Govt. has chosen not to protect us from Alito says more to us than any stacks of propaganda.
I plan to cover the travel costs (up to $350) of my employees so that they can get any medical procedures that are not available in Texas. It can be ANY procedure. They need not tell me what procedure they having done. In fact, their absence will seem like business usual; they can use their sick or vacation days. I am using a third party service provider to manage the process in another state, to ensure privacy is maintained.

Currently in the news is a pregnant woman in Malta. Her fetus has zero chance of survival. If she is forced to carry to term it will put her life at grave risk. Despite this she can't get an abortion in Malta. I just heard today she is flying to Great Britain far the abortion. If she couldn't afford that travel she very well might die.

The amendments were in the original document ratified. The Bill of Rights were in the 1st constitution. Its how it got ratified!! So you need to go back to school! First 10 amendments were in original constitution.

Remember that the section of the political world that supports the overturning of Roe v Wade is the same section of society that recently passed a state marriage bill that would have made child marriage legal and is the same section of society that has as part of its faith’s teachings attitudes that we in modern society refer to as spousal abuse - the idea that a wife must submit to her husband et al (see Melbourne University’s paper on the links between spousal violence and the Baptist church). This isn’t surprising, nor is it an accident. These people looked at Afghanistan’s treatment of women under the Taliban and were inspired to do the same.

What does "muskets" have to do with anything? The framers used the word "arms" substantively. They were fully capable of specifying if they wanted to, but left it broad on purpose. Secondly, I don't know how many times we have to point out to you historically illiterate gun control types, but multi-shot weapons were well developed at the time of the Founding of the United States. There were many different makes and models. Public officials were even urged via correspondence at the time of the Revolutionary War to purchase some of these more advanced weapons. However, due to fiscal constraints, they decided to go with simpler weapons which could be bought in much larger quantities for less money - a not unreasonable decision when trying to outfit a very large army.

What happened in the supreme court yesterday is an outright assault on the human rights of every citizen of our nation that isn't a white Anglo-Saxon male! There isn't a single law protecting the freedoms and equalities we have fought so hard for that isn't at risk. What's next? Do we get rid of equal rights, and make it legal to pay people less because they aren't white men? Or perhaps we should go even further and take away women's right to vote. By Alito’s arguments the Supreme Court does not have ability to make judgements on matters regarding Aviation, organ transplants, gene therapy, anything regarding Nuclear materials, or even automobiles, as all of these things were not present at the signing of the Constitution. The five justices, who say that abortion is not mentioned in the constitution, seem to have missed this.
The first thing I did after they overturned Roe v Wade was refer back to the Bill of Rights and I saw that clear as day. It makes absolutely no sense why they did what they did! I understand that the federal government can only enact laws on several areas and then the rest falls under state jurisdiction to decide for themselves. But it seems to me this amendment gives them authority to decide on certain matters. And in the case of Roe v Wade plus accompanying Supreme Court decisions, there was no need to reverse established precedent.
Right, it's a reference to common law rights traditionally held in common law lands. There are several dozen other countries using common law, and NONE of their courts have detected such an automatic right to abortion stemming from tradition. The only court to find so was the US court in '73. EVERY other country with legal abortion has legal abortion thanks to a law legalizing abortion. Either that 1973 court was somehow smarter than every other court on the planet, or they were wrong.

Gun rights should be treated the same. When the second amendment was written into law with the right to bear arms, the arms mentioned were single shot muskets. If every amendment and law is to be treated as to that era, then ban all guns except single shot rifles.

The 2nd amendment means that if congress ever needs to enact a militia, you have the right to be in it no matter what. Unlike the military, which can deny you for medical, mental, or criminal reasons.
Ergo, you don't actually have a right to own firearms. Congress has the right to form a militia, and this is your right to bear arms. I promise that if the right continues to strip away our rights as it has been working to do for decades, this interpretation of the 2nd amendment will be used to take firearms away from people-targeting primarily against dissenters to their rule. How? They'll use their Trumplican base who are armed to force them away from moderate/left leaning Americans by enacting a militia. This is not fantasy. The one thing I find funny in a sad way, all these people celebrating the overturning of Roe V. Wade, and the ones who will join in celebrating when they attack LGBT rights next…don’t seem to realize this is just the beginning. More and more rights will be stripped as the find they can do so easily, and a lot of the celebrators will find themselves on the side being targeted. Even those who don’t celebrate but look the other way essentially, because it doesn’t affect them, will one day wake up with something being taken away that does.

The biggest problem I have with this decision is not that Roe was gutted, but that stare decisis has been gutted. No longer can we have confidence in the certainty of case law and precedent. Now a court can simply overturn a decision because it thinks it's wrong simply because it doesn't like it.

We need to stop referring to the "Supreme Court" as a court. We need to stop referring to people who were put on this "court" to legislate from the bench as "justices", and it is long past the time for people to make it clear that "rulings" that are the result of a packed "court" have no legitimacy.
If these "rulings" came from a court with a good balance of ideologies and justices that received strong bi-partisan support, then I would still disagree with it, but would accept it as the result of a legitimate court.

Good point. I think rulings like this have the real possibility of undermining the legitimacy of the court. In a democracy, without legitimacy the court is powerless. The same goes with Congress. The moment the people stop listening to what they decide, it's over. These radical "Justices" should do well in remembering that they only hold as much power as the people give them. I find it telling that when Justice Thomas listed other rights that should be consider based on overturning Roe, he neglected to include interracial marriage. Oh, wait. That would affect HIM.
Its worth noting, as horrendous as all this is, they can't go back and nullify legally obtained marriages. Ex post facto clause protects those already wed, and the interstate commerce clause requires states to accept the marriages legally performed in other states.

Since the court did away with America's wishes I see no legal reason that the U.S. govt can't legally overrule Alito's life. After all, if the govt. chooses it, it is automatically legal, as Alito himself has already proven. The fact that our elected Govt. has chosen not to protect us from Alito says more to us than any stacks of propaganda.

Currently in the news is a pregnant woman in Malta. Her fetus has zero chance of survival. If she is forced to carry to term it will put her life at grave risk. Despite this she can't get an abortion in Malta. I just heard today she is flying to Great Britain far the abortion. If she couldn't afford that travel she very well might die.

They have to be held accountable like Clarence Thomas voting on a case where his wife is involved and no consequences. Remember that the section of the political world that supports the overturning of Roe v Wade is the same section of society that recently passed a state marriage bill that would have made child marriage legal and is the same section of society that has as part of its faith’s teachings attitudes that we in modern society refer to as spousal abuse - the idea that a wife must submit to her husband et al (see Melbourne University’s paper on the links between spousal violence and the Baptist church).
This isn’t surprising, nor is it an accident. These people looked at Afghanistan’s treatment of women under the Taliban and were inspired to do the same.

What does "muskets" have to do with anything? The framers used the word "arms" substantively. They were fully capable of specifying if they wanted to, but left it broad on purpose.
Secondly, I don't know how many times we have to point out to you historically illiterate gun control types, but multi-shot weapons were well developed at the time of the Founding of the United States. There were many different makes and models.
Public officials were even urged via correspondence at the time of the Revolutionary War to purchase some of these more advanced weapons. However, due to fiscal constraints, they decided to go with simpler weapons which could be bought in much larger quantities for less money - a not unreasonable decision when trying to outfit a very large army.

She even won a case to protect a single father to receive benefits to take care of his child after his wife had died because he could lose is job simply because he had to be there for his baby!! This situation is important enough to arouse the people to vote candidates into power that will impeach the justices. Thus I question the common sense of the six justices that have done the deed of imposing religious doctrine upon the people, and opening the church to taxation in order to fund this religious doctrine.

What happened in the supreme court yesterday is an outright assault on the human rights of every citizen of our nation that isn't a white Anglo-Saxon male! There isn't a single law protecting the freedoms and equalities we have fought so hard for that isn't at risk. What's next? Do we get rid of equal rights, and make it legal to pay people less because they aren't white men? Or perhaps we should go even further and take away women's right to vote. Why not go all the way and make slavery legal again! This is a very sad day here in the USA.

I have known several women who were in bad marriages because they got pregnant, and didn't have the choice back in the sixties. I have always been a staunch supporter of women's rights and equal rights in general and WILL be to my dying day. To think that my gg-daughters won't have the choices their great grand mothers had is simply NOT an option. By Alito’s arguments the Supreme Court does not have ability to make judgements on matters regarding Aviation, organ transplants, gene therapy, anything regarding Nuclear materials, or even automobiles, as all of these things were not present at the signing of the Constitution.
