GARFIELD is used with permission from Georgi Banks-Davies. Learn more at thisisgeorgi.com.
Krishna and Garfield wake up together after a drunken night, queasy from the previous evening's carousing and confused as to what exactly happened. In the cold light of the morning after, the two gingerly dance around one another, but slowly piece together just exactly how they connected, and why.
Director Georgi Banks-Davies's short romantic comedy ticks many of the genre's boxes: witty banter, great chemistry, buoyant pacing. But Banks-Davies offers a take that's just a little bit different, taking on deeper psychological nuances and exploring issues of cultural identity.
By tackling the "morning after," she explores the unique situation in which two people who connected the night before must find a connection in the bright light of morning, where their very real differences reveal themselves more fully.
What's unique about Myra Appannah's screenplay is not just the crackling dialogue, but the way the characters conceal and dance around their truths, longings and expectations. They grapple with their attraction and desire for one another, but also the weight of cultural expectations and embarrassment -- not to mention the vulnerability that comes from making a connection and wondering exactly what it means, especially as they begin to get to know one another at a deeper level.
The performances are often the key to a romantic comedy's success, and GARFIELD offers two strong central lead actors, Mandeep Dhillion and Matthew Travannion, who handle both the lighter comedic elements as well as hit the deeper notes of uncertainty, honesty and vulnerability required by the story.
They play well together, and watching them laugh and jostle one another with genuine enjoyment make it a pleasure for viewers to see these characters come to a new understanding together -- even when Garfield spends most of the film in a costume onesie.
And they're captured in lively handheld camerawork that beautifully situates both characters not only in relation to one another, but also within contemporary London. There is a naturalistic, documentary feel to the film, and while the story hits narrative beats adroitly, it's done so subtly that it feels like we're watching life unfold naturally, carried along by characters that navigate their uncertainty and still somehow a new way to engage one another.
GARFIELD has plenty of charm and wit, with a story and characters that are both specific yet relatable, in a way that makes us feel like a fly on the wall of an evolving love story. By the time we've been charmed and drawn in by Krishna and Garfield, the film ends just a bit too soon, leaving viewers wanting more -- and hoping that the pair rode off into the gray London morning to a happy future.
This doesn't seem like acting....their interactions are absolutely natural. Beautifully done.
Tru dat, these actors had real chemistry. I remember reading a movie review for "The Score" in which Angela Basset and Robert Deniro were supposed to be a couple. "We are going to put BIG STARS in this movie, chemistry be damned!" :-)
Yeah , expertly acted
I see what you mean. You're comment is why I watched it.
Absolutely yes.
I forgot I wasn't there in the room with them.
Yeah but I don’t get it? Where’s the pay off? Do they end up together or never see eachother again?
that guy is cool, comfortable in his own skin
I love people like him. No arrogance, no shade, just....human
That's not his skin, that's a pink panther costume.
@@sharobb6904 incredibly charming
@@elizabethbennet4791 he is 😊
I wanna reach that level of confidence
That is not acting. Their interaction seems straight out of an everyday life thing it's so natural.
Well, actually, it is acting. It takes a lot of skill to make it feel unscripted and to play it absolutely real because the tendency for actors is to act.
They cut it out just about when the real drama was about to happen !
that is why.. thumb down
It’s a short film! I loved it!
They let us know what we needed to in order to deduce an ending on our own.
I think they end up together with lil ginger coconuts running amuck someday!
But I’m a “glass half full “ type of girl 😉♾🙏🏼✌🏼♥️
Inspiring! 10/10 from me 🤩😉
@@googlethis313 "Ginger coconuts." Good one! LOL
@@googlethis313 jesus chill with the emojis normie
yea, they went into the culturally mixed area. Lets just hope they did not have to drive thri the Muslim area. Oh god the lynching that would cause.
I swear, some of these just need to be longer. Great film.
Yeah there was plenty more in this film
Best one yet! god dam it, you are so right.
Not always the case, but definitely for this short it should have been a good 30 minute short.
“They used to call me coconut”
“cause you’re so hairy?” 😂
Top on the edge jest that one !
The guy seems so genuine and wholesome. Both actors did an amazing job in creating such a realistic relationship in such a short time and I find myself rooting for them to stay in contact and potential forge a boyfriend/girlfriend type of bond. Fingers crossed that there may be a sequel to this although I know its uncommon if it has ever happened in the world of omeletto for anything to have a sequel
It's so awkward but also comforting at the same time. Truly England.
I hardly caught what they were saying because of their British accent... :(
It is nice to see human interactions that are free of cruelty and express kindness. A cool story about modern relationships and communication. Also, don't lose track of your Jaeger Bomb count. The wake up scene could have been soo much more embarrassing, believe me. Well acted and well directed. Thank you.
Giving away your one piece in a cold is not a nice human interaction, it's unjustifiable.
Free of cruelty and express kindness? I mean there were quite a lot of things said that were rather harsh
This was adorable 🤩
I like that he felt secure enough in himself and cared enough for her to just be seen in his boxers so that she wouldn’t be cold.
In my imaginary ending? They live happily ever after together forever...with lil ginger coconuts running amuck someday!
Round of applause for all involved in this short film! 10/10 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great comment; I laughed and I thank you for this. :D
Lil ginger coconuts. That's gold. :D
As for the offended person in your reply thread, baaaah. Maybe need a lamp to lighten up a little bit. Lamp, helium balloons, whatever.
nice one and not offensive at all:)
impossible. Both parents have to carry the redhead gene to pass it on.
"..with little ginger coconuts running amock some day." God bless you for saying that!! Hehehe
I love how they made him a absolute gentleman I wish most guys were like this !!
you know you've been watching too many Omeleto's when no matter how charming and cute it starts out you still expect it to end with the woman chained to a radiator. just sayin.
Yet to see that one
Which one is it?
the whoooole time i was waiting for him to drug her
r/oddlyspecific
lol, I know right? These are usually sadistic.
Aww he's such a Gentleman. I loved the banter between them, almost forgot they were acting.
You mean to tell me this is not just a couple of people who had a one night stand that happened to be filmed by someone secretly? The interactions are so natural! My pet peeve in films is that everyone seems to be waiting for the other one to finish talking before any response. They talk over each other at times, or even laugh before a joke is done. Genuine.
Their chemistry flowed so naturally and so authentically! I was easily convinced that they're a item! Wow, great short film!!
Fell in love with the bloke! What a beautiful accent and that easy grace that makes one forget you are watching someone act.
South Welsh accent.
God she looks so much like Radhika Apte 😱
Exactly..I'm bout to write the same then I saw your comment🙂
@@jayasankarjayaraj1944 yeah right? It is so obvious.
I clicked bcz of That!!!
Yeeeessss
Yup😂it took me some time to realise it wasn’t her
Now I want to see what happens next
she wore his costume to cover her open legs to avoid the embarrassment from people of her own community but being with naked white guy made the situation more awkward for her. Lol. That's what I concluded from the story.
@@acatperson21 I think they really liked each other, but society made them self conscious of themselves. His "culture" was covering her from the onlookers perspective, represented by the panther suit.
She being banned from marrying indian
@@acatperson21 Non sense. Indian girls wear shorts all the time. Why this victim mentality and white worshipping?
@@montyi8 Why the cancel mentality and woke worshipping?
These actors are natural as f... so good, and the way she laughed her lung out or swaying hungover trying to find the phone on the ground.
As I see it, the film is about two people trying to shed the identities imposed upon them by other people and make their outer identities more like what they see as their inner selves. The woman is not labeled by gender, only by race, and dons a costume of a traditional feminine colour along with the helmet she was told by text that she would need when she got home. The man has been cast as a feline, a species usually noted for feminine qualities, and gradually shifts his identity away from an orange feline one (Garfield) to a pink feline one to a nearly naked self. Wearing a minimal amount of clothing draws attention away from his hair and makes him less likely to be identified solely on the basis of its colour.
Omg thisss!
That is an amazing analysis that I would never have been able to pick up on Lool. Thanks!!
Nah she was just cold and he's a good dude who doesn't give a fk about whatever people might think of him. He has transcended getting hassled by everyone or everything that he's able to handle most any situation.
I think the ending was not to bad. It really shows how two people from truly diverse backgrounds socially, religious and otherwise can get along well when it’s just them. Then at the end, reality and society as it is wherever you are barges in and quickly erodes you. Can you stand against it? Somewhat? But that’s one of the struggles.
I really enjoyed this hilarious short.
Excellent rapport between these two.
Pure chemistry....enough, in fact, to merit a full length movie.
We live in hope.
ive had drunk nights like this and in my life only met one guy who was super charming but went above and beyond to make sure i was safe and comfortable. this was cute
I think we'd all LOVE a part 2 please!
We can create a fan fic. In part 2, they stop at a felafel place. Or some Indian ethnic takeout place, whatever it is they would sell as takeout. But they won't serve him, because no shirt and she has no shoes. So they move on to a bodega (do they have bodegas in London?) and pick up some canned haggis. Do they eat haggis in England? Cold canned haggis, at that?
@@ChickensAndGardening I think he was Welsh not Scottish? 😎
@@Mardi-Shorts-DevonGirlUK definitely Welsh.
Top-notch naturalistic acting from both of them and beautifully shot giving a voyeuristic feel as a couple wakes up from a drunken night before and charmingly as well as slightly awkwardly get to know each other all over again.
I love stories that leave you with lots of questions, very nicely made with great dialogue and timing !
Ian Clarke
In my imagination, they end up together...with lil ginger coconuts running amuck someday!
Wow ,he didn't take advantage of her when she passed out drunk,he took her to his home, cared for her and showed her unconditional love even giving up his cloths under extreme cold to keep her warm.
I totally know how she feels. Asian mums and elder siblings have no chill when u don't wanna be sensible.
these are the most British looking people in the world
She is Indian
A Welsh Pink Panther makes morning cha for the Indian princess. " da da din din da da "
Oh my gosh, the stress I felt when she entered her neighbourhood. All the auntijis and uncles. oh maah gaaah! *stressed out*
What's the point of ending the movie this way?
she wore his costume to cover her open legs to avoid the embarrassment from people of her own community but coming with naked white guy early morning made the situation more awkward for her. Lol. That's what I concluded from the story.
Answer: There are many reasons!
1. To inspire you into action or a state of understanding.
2. To let your mind take the story where You want it to go.
3. To let the people who produced it see if it’s worth making into a longer movie; ie, It trends on social media, they are more likely to make into a show or movie.
4. To just share with you an awkward yet funny situation, where two people are realizing that they actually get along. And! For a topper! The ginger, or “Garfield” , is willing and secure enough in himself to be seen in his boxers just so that his
“Coconut “ won’t be cold.
In my imagination...they end up living happily ever after...together.
With lil ginger coconuts running amuck some day.
But that’s probably just me. 😉

He wasn't naked.
Boxer shorts and her miniskirt. Lol.
Chapter 1.
Otherwise it wouldn't be an Omelette story.
This is why I love about Omeleto movies. You get locked into these short conversations that you can either relate to or are just captivating.
Riding a Vespa in London is one of the most pleasurable things to do in life, if it isn't raining.
He’s a beautiful “Ginger.” 😍😍😍. This was such a cool, lil short! Love Omeleto!♥️🙌🏼💯
Brilliantly done - from natural acting to precise edits...such a voyeuristic film it had me replaying to see if I missed anything out...surely there must be a second part to this...the reaction on the street should surely climax this unusual pair...
Absolutely love his attitude ,as for gingers ,love them all
why didnt he go back inside his appt and get clothes, unlike with her, he actually lives there so he would have clothes for the situation ? was he too lazy or just couldnt be bothered to go back and get warm clothing?
I think because she was already so cold stood still that it would be unbearable once moving..and then he gave her the outfit.
it takes like 2 min to change ... that just bothered me somehow :)) made no sense unless you're under the influence of substances or mental issues.
I don't think it was necessarily the fact of grabbing warmer clothes. My perspective was that he was literally just being him and not changing was his way of saying, I'm comfortable with what I'm wearing and I don't give a damn what people think. Because obviously it was his flat, and could've changed at almost any point in time.
That's just my perspective. I could be wrong. 🤷🏾♂️
jingerstorm - you wouldn't know 'other' end of the ginger spectrum. That's exactly why you still count one one hand.
Their acting love it it’s not even like a written script
Guys like him you only see on tv or short movies , ginger or not he’s charming and sweet and that’ make him a 10 ... best way for this to end is with her saying aye listen let me go home .... get my self together and let’s meet later properly .. yeah ?... that would make me swoon 😂
Offer her to try remember where she might have left her purse.
Or do you think that might be 1 step to far? I guess it would demand on acting and delivery.
What a sweet guy he even gave her his outfit to keep her warm . So sweet of him she has to give him her number.
So much could be said about this excellent short film!
The London accent is so thick, the CC closed captions can't cope!
I honestly wonder who exactly does these descriptions? This is NOTHING like what was described... the acting was totally AMAZING!! The interaction between the two was very cute! His pink panther onesie was ALL THAT! I need one in my life!!🤣🤣
Great actors! They play the characters naturally! I want more, something like part 2 😉 want to see more of them!
The personality of his character, his voice, and his smile are so incredibly attractive.
I love their chemistry. There interaction was so genuine like damn. I wonder if they are a couple in real life. I want to see what happens next!
You know it's a great film when it's way too short and leaves you craving more of these two.
This was hilarious and sweet. They would go well together
Omg she's gonna get killlled when she gets home! D:
Nice to see people being nice to each other in spite of their differences. London is an awesome place.
Lol 🤣👍That was Galant of him, I wonder how she felt being a Pink Panther...
I like that it was casually realistic, yet interesting and had me at the edge of the seat.
I had enough of acting, I need something realistic.
Great chemistry with these two actors made this tale eminently watchable.
Hes such a charmer. She should have been on board
Byrds playin hard to catch
This was genuinely and effortlessly so funny! So many moments where the viewer will be laughing hard.... And a beautiful exemplification of how a random acquaintance can turn into a deeper meaningful connection. But I must say that this fellow- the character of course- was a thorough gentleman.
Quality writing, but without good casting it's nothing. Hope they go miles with their (Welsh accent) "abilities"
Their chemistry is perfect!
It's a rarity.
Conclusion of the movie was obvious and it was delightful from start to finish. So refreshing to see a normal story on this channel. And such amusing chemistry!
That was so sweet of him to give her the outfit
This short needed to be way longer.
Just a simple story, no major twists or nasty turns. Garfield and Krishna probably won't meet again after this. But they'd make a cute couple. They both aren't to serious about themselves and feel at ease with each other. It's nice after a few downer shorts to get one that's just a slice of life.
Love watching these two, takes me back to my fun London years. Great stuff, ..I bet a lot of people watched this with huge smiles feeling nostalgic.
What an Indian princess :)
Beauty's beauty.
So, obsessed with cats moped spaz, takes care of hot chick from the club? What? It ended right when it was about to get good. Dangit!
I guess he couldn’t just change clothes...
Ain't nobody got time for that!
Man: "Can I have your number?"
Girl: "Well no, you're a gingah"
Me: "Well hell yeah, you're a gingah!"
All I can say is
This man was gold
Well done. You could easily make a series out of these two interesting characters. I would certainly watch more episodes.
This is so genuine. Like a snapshot of my life. Coming from a white Londoner with plenty of interactions with people of different cultures.
Very fine casting. Made me care about them. I’m even worried about her if she makes a habit of getting black out drunk and going home with strangers. I’m just going to believe that they stay together and make each other happy.
This actually was pretty funny, and pretty cute. Although he could have put some pants and a shirt on, lent her some sweats, and not drawn the attention of everyone in the neighborhood ;) but guess I'm just a gentlemen like that. Would have liked to see some before and after, and that's the surest sign a short caught your attention.
"cause you're so hairy" hilarious
OMG! A want a second part, they just look lovely, in my imagination they will be the perfect couple! Nice short!
Adorable ❤ A beautiful display of human emotions without going into a deep tunnel.
Acting was so natural. Even if it was improvised it was like it really happened.
The guy is absolutely adorable.😁❤️
Loved it! Put a big damn smile on my face :)
I would love this to be an actual movie, I loved their chemistry
Parents are going to go fookin bonkers when she gets home lol

Oh the cute twists! Truly a noteworthy piece. Story line, to the tea and set details. Loved the awkward and endearing ownership of their characters' biases. I thought it was inspiring. Then ending with the polite slap to my face for misinterpreting data & thinking that they were in England🤦♀️.
Thank you I needed that. 😘
I love how she's wearing his pajamas!!
Great chemistry between those two and I like that these short films don't always have to have a twist or some big revelation near the end. I also instantly recognised Mandeep Hillon from 'After Life' and 'David Brent: Life On The Road". She is so delish! 😍
The pink panther/man, had the most beautiful radiant smile, and great sense of humor. Great film....the ride of shame home. lol loved this short.
I wanted so much more of this!
Also I swear he took her keys and purse
That would be creepy
naah he's a good guy
I was hoping to see the mom's face when she got home Lol
I think is kind of an incel gamma male fantasy. You don't have to approach a beautiful woman (which is scary), a beauty just gets plunked into a non-sexual but intimate situation with you, and she is stuck there long enough to discover what a "nice" guy you are--and finally someone loves you instead of being shallow and put off by your "shy"-ness.
He’s an attractive red head
And she is an attractive coconut lol😉
I don't know why but I'm so proud that she lives in southwell just because I live there.
He really gave her his jumper an went without clothes awwwee

There's over a billion people that drink tea out of a glass and I am not limiting that to just India.
@@jessemiller9792 It's the same in Russia - 'in a glass, with lemon'.
