    Love your videos so much. I have been watching them for a little over a year because I EPed for my son until about 7 months, I was also a MEGA oversupplier and decided to EP because my son would choke and cry because it was too fast so around that time I was able to stop and have a large stash and also donate 1,500+ ounces (: .. I just found out I am about 6 weeks pregnant (my son just turned 1) and refreshing on all of this and learning new things. I am getting a spectra this time around which I am super excited about! Keep the videos coming because they REALLY helped me before and they are helping me now!
    Could you maybe give tips and advice about pumping with a toddler? Im really worried about that!

    How do you find time to pump when the baby is so active! My baby is 6 months old and it’s so difficult to find time when home alone.

    I have a question.. do you have a video on boosting your supply after a decrease in supply? I need advice or tips on how to do this while EP. I have to supplement with formula right now but I'd love to be able to just feed my baby breastmilk! Thanks!

      I do have a video on how to boost milk supply, it's in the same playlist as the other EP videos(: Feel free to message me if you need any other help!

    I'm almost 24 weeks postpartum and transitioning towards exclusively pumping... I'm feeding him early morning, during the night, and late evenings now that I'm back to work... I'm seeing a crazy drop in supply... Is that normal? Earlier I used to pump only once in a while when I used to feel too full... What all can I do to give the supply a boost?
    Please advise.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  4 года назад +1

      Did you recently go back to work and drop some feedings/pump sessions? If so that sounds like the cause of the decrease! Ideally you'd want to get more feedings or pump sessions in. But I know as a working mom that's a huge privilege not many have so you could trying pumping on the way to work, on the way home and power pumping when you get a chance!

      @@MommaAlia I'm working from home only... But work is just so stressful there's no time to take a break.
      But I keep trying to steal time away, but sometimes I'm not able to.

    Do we have to pump daily at the same time/just emptying the breasts is the only criteria?

    I am exclusively pumping right now I do a schedule of every 2-3hrs during the day and every 3hrs during the night. But I go back to work in 4wks, and I am really nervous, it is going to totally mess up my schedule. Do you have any words of wisdom or thoughts on what I will need to do, to maintain a good supply?
    Thank you!!

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  5 лет назад

      Look at the awesome schedule!! Try not stress! I would get ahold of your boss ahead to try and see what you can expect. I’d print out the laws for your state/country in case they try to give any push back. In that case try to kindly educate them. See how often you can pump and for how long. While in a perfect world you would pump as often as you should until empty every time, I know most aren’t that fortunate at work. So just try to pump as often as you can and empty as much as you can. Then empty as soon as you get home! Hope this helps momma💕

    I'm starting to EF, but I also think I just started my period. However the last 3 nights I skipped pumping in the middle of the night and nursed Bc I was sick and honestly didn't have the energy to get up and pump. I'm only 7weeks pp is this normal? Should I be pumping more!? I'm scared I'm going to loose my supply. Help!

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 лет назад

      Check out the "Why I Won't Glorify My Oversupply + Why It Shouldn't Be" video I just made! If it is a true period, you may see a dip in your supply (you also may not at all!). Nursing through the night and not pumping is completely fine momma. It's still putting in the demand to your breasts that you need milk. Pumping during the day and nursing at night is the way lots of mom breastfeed! I wouldn't worry about your supply unless your baby shows signs otherwise(:

    I have WIC right now, and I planned to EP with this baby, and I asked them if they would supply me with a pump or how that works and they told me that since I am not breast feeding they wouldn't give/loan me one lol but I agree with you, pumping is breast feeding just bc my baby is drinking my breast milk from a bottle don't mean it's not breast feeding. I thought it was funny. Luckily my insurance covers the spectra S2 and I already bought a lansinoh pump u reviewed.

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 лет назад +2

      *Eyeroll at their statement* It's situations like that, that are the most frustrating. They should be encouraging and assisting you in breastfeeding no matter how you choose to do it! But I'm so glad you were able to get a hold of one! Be careful though, pump hoarding can become an addiction (;

    What changes biologically around 12 weeks that causes regulation?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  6 лет назад

      It’s the time where you’re out of that fourth trimester, swelling and engorgement goes down and your body starts to see the consistent pattern you’re offering and adapts your supply to that. It’s just a matter of your body adjusting to whatever demand you’re putting in for breast milk really

    Im currently trying to increase my milk supply. My baby is 5 weeks old, I nurse and then i pump 2 or 3 times a day but i get so empty that when I nurse again my boobs are super soft and I feel my baby struggles to get his milk.... I never get engorged in the day...what can I’do???

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  5 лет назад +1

      Your best bet is to see an IBCLC momma. They will be able to be hands on and trouble shoot for you. At only 5 weeks postpartum it’s rare to have an oversupply. It’s completely normal and average to only make exactly what your baby makes. If you’re getting milk from pumping, I would stop and do nursing sessions first. I would only pump directly after nursing. But still only pumping a couple times after nursing. Too much of an oversupply could damage a nursing relationship. I hope this helps and you find answers!

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  6 лет назад

      My oversupply came from a combination of things and I wouldn't recommend having such a large oversupply. It really depends on what you're already doing. If you're nursing, exclusively pumping or something in between. If you're EPing, I would get on a diligent and consistent schedule. Every 2-3 hours from the last time you pumped around the clock. Make sure you have the correct size flange and that you empty your breasts every time. If you do empty and that isn't enough, start pumping for 5-10 minutes past empty. You can also try power pumping. Good luck momma and hang in there!

    I have been pumping since the day after my daughter was born because she was in the nicu. I try to pump every 3 hrs and atleast 2 pumps at night. My question is how do you manage a newborn and pumping so often? I find it so hard during the night because I pump after she feeds so when all is said and done I maybe have an hour or less to try and sleep. Any tips for night feeding and pumping? Also... What do you do if you are out for the day?

    • @MommaAlia
      @MommaAlia  7 лет назад

      +Amelia Wilson I liked to pump during my daughters feeding session. A hands free bra is an amazing help with that (& just in general too!). Also, make sure you're starting your timer for the next session when you finish your current one. Having a caddy near by with all your stuff ready to go can cut back on trips to the kitchen. Even a cooler bag with ice packs if you don't want to make any trips! I normally pump right before we leave (or on the way if it's a long trip) to go somewhere and then on the way home. If I'm out while needing to pump, I pump in my car with a cover on or in a separate room. I have a few different videos on each of those subjects where I go more in depth🙂 Good luck momma & you're doing great!

      Long enough to empty your breast. That amount of time is different woman so there’s no set time. I have a video explaining it in detail in the exclusively pumping series
