Great points made! I really love VA’s for their skill, emotion, depth to characters, and their appreciation for how animation can tell stories. They deserve their credits.
Voice acting is sch an underrated and amazing art - it's a shame how major studios' disrespect professionals in favor of big names just because of star power alone - I'm not sure how much in effect me due to most of the media I watch I watch in Danish - but I do recognize the problem - I not know a lot of English voice actors but one of my favorites is Mae Whitman - also not really relevant but I find it funny so I'm going to mention it here - in the Danish version the person who voices the Genie from Aladdin is also Ms. Piggy
2:07 i know it's not all of the original cast, but there's a scene in the movie where Sam Vincent and Kirby Morrow's voices appear as a cameo !! they only have one line, and they're kinda hidden, but it's such a fun little detail !! idk if i can tell you the scene exactly, but it was when Nya and Zane create a smoke-wall-thingy and the ninja run through it to not get captured by Garmadon's generals. The first one says something like "Where'd they go?" (Kirby's character) and "I can't see them anywhere!" (Sam Vincent's character) i'm honestly grateful for their one millisecond appearance in the movie because at least they made it in somehow lol. but MAN what wouls i give to see a new animated Ninjago movie with the current cast !! and just to see Sam Vincent's Lloyd in the big screen- i'm literally crying just thinking about it 😀 anyways my favorite voice actors are Sam Vincent, Vincent Tong, Kelly Metzger, Brent Miller, (basically all of the Ninjago cast because of how much effort and emotion they put into their characters no matter how big or small the role is) Micheal Kovach, Tara Strong, Ian Hanlin, Ashleigh Ball, Charlie Day, Dave Franco (i LOVE the way he portrayed Lloyd's character) and last but not least, my guilty pleasure Chris Pratt 💀🙏
this video is so beautiful. its nice to see that some people really care about voice actors the personality they bring to animated shows. and the fact that voice actors are losing jobs do to AI is NOT OK. I love the cast of Ninjago especially Sam vincent as Lloyd and Britt mckillip as Harumi.
I think a lot of studios thing that live action / realistic visuals = better, but if we look at recent Sony superhero movies for example, Spiderverse & Venom... I'm also pretty worried about how the visuals of the Live Action Ninjago Movie will look, the original Avatar the Last Airbender Movie comes to mind and the horrible bending, and that might be what our elemental powers will look like. I would love for people to stop treating animation as a kiddy thing for kids and realize that it is a beautiful artform for all ages, people are too quick to dismiss something because it's a 'cartoon'. Anyways, I love the Ninjago voice cast, I had the honor of meeting Jillian Michaels and had her sign my Ninjago Season 2 DVD a while back. If I could meet the whole cast one day that would be much more exciting than meeting any big buck celebrity.
Hard agree!! (Fantastic video the points you made were excellent) I definitely fear for the livelihood of voice actors with the rising use of AI. Ugh yeah and if I see Chris Pratt's name anywhere near the live action Ninjago movie- I'm running and boycotting that shit so hard. I would have loved to see a canon Ninjago movie instead!! But it's all about money and making it palatable to the biggest audience possible :/
Bro I feel so bad for the voice actor of Rodrick from the diary of a wimpy kid the long haul movie. Like the hate he got for not being anything related to Rodrick ended his career. Like they CHOSE him he was doing what the script said yet he got so much hate. Even tho I’m one of those people who hate the long haul Rodrick. The actor didn’t deserve the attacks. Like it ended his career for acting bruh and went to therapy.
That is great video I just wanna give my opinion on Voice acting and what you said on celebrity VA which I really do want to do Voice acting since I love doing imitation on multiple things Yes I can understand the ninjago Voice acting being replaced is terrible which I can understand why Idk why they replace but my guess would have to be aged up but I have a mix feeling on celebrity VA: which not all celebrities understand VA which they do it to get recognized or get a quick payday like Chris Pratt and Awkawfina (Dont know how to say it but I'm sure you know what you mean) He's good but it's mixed bad to Mario but he did a decent job and Ninjago Is a great show its more than just a Toy products it has wonderful animation and story telling which I gave passion for myself I want to Voice act and make a character of my VA like OG VA make the character a character TBH
An example of a celebrity taking a voice acting role done right imo is Keneth Branagh voicing Abijah Folwer in the Netflix series Blue Eye Samuri. That is a show that had a pretty even blend of veteran on screen and voice actors compiled into their cast. Casting Branagh as the main villian wasn't done because they wanted a famous celebrity in their show, they cast him because the story required a Northern Irish accent for the role. I'm probably quite biased because it was really cool hearing my native accent in a high budget animated series, but Branagh brought an intensity and coldness to the role I don't know if any other actor could, especially seeing as there's so few actors from Northern Ireland. Voicing acting is just as if not harder than on screen acting, because they only have their voice to convey their performance, they have to trust they can do a good enough job that animators can build a scene around it. Sabrina Carpenter is talented artist, but you couldn't just plug her into an animated feature and expect her performance to be great. People like her aunt Nancy Cartwright spend years perfecting an incredibly difficult craft, and we can't undervalue them.
Fun fact about me one of the reasons i got into my little pony was because of how some of the voice actors (and writers) were on other shows and movies i love specifically dc like batman with tara strong being the voice of Harley Quinn and Batgirl or how andrew Francis voiced batman in the little big planet videogames
Ok, so the start just reminded me that here in Latin America, the dubs are always great, even surprasing the original, the thing is that recently they started to add start-talents( who most of the time don't have experience in voice acting). A big example is Transformers One, they changed some of the VA of the trailer, and oh boy, is a very controversial topic because one of the startalents did something terrible, so i recommend to check this, even tho most of the videos talking about it are well, spanish. And yeah, sometimes they do a good job, like with Donkey from Shrek, he was voiced by Eugenio Derbez( who wasn't a voice actor) and he did it pretty well or Omar Chaparro, who did Po's voice in KFP, and recently, Luisito Comunica as Sonic in the movies. Also, in the Latin America dub, they kept the original voice actors of the ninja in the ninjago movie, everyone but Lloyd and Nya( for some reason i don't understand)
@Angninjin22 No need, your comment is so interesting! Yeah I think I’ve actually heard about the Latin American Ninjago Movie dub before, thanks for reminding me!
I think one of the worst examples of this was space jam 2 trailer showing the characters names not the voice actors and then show a big text for zendaya it made me cringe and was very uncomfortable
the fact you mentioned ninjago so heavily realy warms my heart
@imahouser Ninjago seems to always be the starting point for my video ideas haha
love ninjago focus! watching the behind the scenes of the old seasons made me want to pursue voice acting as an art!

@Snake_Jaguar_Nerd Oh my gosh I never knew that, thanks for pointing that out! I’ll have to listen for it next time I watch the movie!

Kevin Michael Richardson, Sam Witwer and Dee Bradley Baker are some of my favourite voice actors.

Yeah people take it way too far a lot of the time. At the end of the day, actors are just doing a job and they shouldn't be attacked for that.
Yeah, I agree. The movie was really horrible, but he didn’t deserve the hate he gotten
