    Thanks for strumming and not playing fingerstyle. Strumming is the true test of this technology.

    This is an excellent video. I just discovered the world of IR a week ago. Thoughts on Optima Air vs ToneDexter vs Voice Print? Pros and cons? Thanks for opening my eyes to this.

    Hi Aaron. Thanks so much for doing all of these videos on gear. Very informative. I've also watched some of your videos on the Baggs Voiceprint. Which do you prefer in which context and why? I need a good eq/preamp of some sort with my K&K equipped Martin. Right now I have the basic K&K pure preamp, but I feel like I need more tone sculpting capability for running into my PA (EV Evolve 30M).

    They called the old unit a 2 too (which you reviewed here) but there is a whole new box and software now called the 2 also (confused). People are now claiming it is now the GOAT of acoustic processors. Would love to see you possibly review it at some point as I love and perhaps trust your reviews more.

      The new unit is called “ToneDexter II”. I am considering approaching Sweetwater to see if they would sponsor a review of it. I am yet to hear any audio of it anywhere.

    I do think IR is the future but I'm not sure it's there yet. The tonedexter example sounded better but not that great. Kinda felt a bit underwhelmed bit good video

      Thank you and I agree. It’s incredibly impressive tech that just needs a little more refinement.

    Very enlightening - thanks for the work with the audio comparisons! So do you prefer ToneDexter, or NUX Optima Air, or.....? Still new to IR, and wondering which device might be my first for using existing IRs and also capturing my own. Like the compact form factor on the NUX.

    thanks man! I'm sold on this thing but they sold out of them and due to covid + chip shortage (for a time one couldn't find parts to build a new gamer PC desktop) they don't have them, except used on re:scamverb or fleabay . I think they have a new model coming out in 2023 . . . How I found out about it some guy on the local open mic circuit won this on a contest (maybe it was acoustic guitar mag) and he got it and brought it in, (WTH is a Tonedexter?) and I had look it up , and figured it out. Once we got it working . . . Everywhere I hear acoustic guitars, they have that piezo "fart buzz" . . . but this thing takes care of it. He got the expensive martin player to make IR (wavemap) and used it on the tonedexter with his student taylor and trolled a local bluegrass festival, a taylor with the classic martin boom. But then he sold it to help fund a huss n dalton, but he's kinda miffed because with dazzo in the huss n dalton sounds like the student taylor with their taylor pu system, they both got the piezo farts and wishes he kept the tone dexter so he could have some tone.

    Bonjour Monsieur.
    Je possède une guitare electro acoustique de marque Yamaha.
    Je passe par une pedale BBE.
    Voici ma question : est ce que je peut aussi après mon BBE, rajouter la pedale TONEDEXTER...?
    Est ce que cela va amélioré mon son ,vue que le piezo de ma guitare n'est pas extraordinaire, cela va t-il apporter un changement flagrant et évident...?
    Je vous remercie par avance pour votre aide et votre conseil.
    Cordialement.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  Год назад +1

      Sure. Try it with and without the BBE and see if you like the sound. I would try running it after the Tone Dexter.

    I am a fairly long-time Tonedexter useer, so I am familiar with the pedal and the IR concept. I thought either your mike placement favored the sound hole perhaps too much (too much low end) or maybe it was a dreadnaught guitar (I use a Martin rosewood OM) , but in any event I thought it was a remarkable review, especially the final microhpone/Tonedexter inter-cut part. I could never hear the change, listening on Sony consumer closed ear headphones (not studio headphones). But I agree with the miracle nature of the IR system and the Tonedexter in particular and thanks dong the review.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  3 года назад

      Hey Robert! Actually that was my OM but I’m glad you feel it has a strong low end. There is definitely a difference with the IR but we are getting closer with every new pedal and firmware update. This sounds so good!

    11:02-11:03 is the change, I'd say the first one is the mic bc it sounds more natural. Do I win the pedal???

      Yes it changes at 11:03 but no you do not win the pedal ;-)

    I noticed on Sweetwater for the slate MLK-2 mic, it says iLOK required. ??? Is the mic hardware protected? LOL WTF. Or is it just if you plan to use it with Slate's DAW?

      That is only for the software side. I have never even used it! It’s a great flat response mic for making ‘Maps’.

    I still hope for a v3 update ^^ i love the tone dexter but there are some flaws, once you hear it it will ruin the experience. But still a mist have pedal imo
