    You guys always make my day. I just had a good cry watching your dolphins at the boat. That was my birthday gift every year from my husband to go on a dolphin watch. The best gift I could get. I'm not sure how many lbs. was in that first pull. 50 lbs or so, just guessing. I'm hoping the boat don't eat up all the profits too. We're trying though. This shrimp trawl session will be over soon. I'll be hoping for the best next year. Stay safe and take care.

    Do yall have skimmers boats down there?

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  Год назад

      Nobody uses skimmers here in SC that I know of. I've seen them used in NC and other places with shallow trawling areas. Lots of the commercial boats I see here are trawling in 20+ feet of water. I don't really know how deep the skimmers are trawling.

    Are you just dragging a net? Or are you using doors… I got a net… never used it ..

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  Год назад

      We're pulling a 42' net and 5' x 2.5' doors. The doors have to be used trawling like we're doing. They're what keep the net open. I was using a 25' net with 18" x 36" doors before I decided to move up.

    Nice but why take the heads of. For a bisque thats where all the flavor is. Even for grilling I like head on.

    • @SaltyReflections
      @SaltyReflections  Год назад +1

      Most people we deal with want the shrimp already headed. We've had a few that want us to leave their heads on. We work with the buyers on what they want. If someone let's us know they want their heads left on before we go, we'll put the amount they want to the side. Shrimp won't keep but a few days with the heads on. Storage is an issue. Especially since we do not use any preservatives or chemicals on them as most commercial shrimp boats do.

      We're still learning about shrimp trawling and like sharing our adventures with others who enjoy our video content. We've never been around anyone willing to share much info about how to trawl. Some people enjoy our videos, and I'm sure there are ones that don't. We do the best we can.
