Hello Perun ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

May be wrong but I thought you meant the bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala with a gandalfian beard. You can hear him sing in Ever Dream or even heavier Romanticide.
Wacken (Vahkan) is a small town of about 2000 people in Germany. For 3 or 4 days every year it gets invaded by over 80,000 people. The fiery Bulls skull is to represent the farmers field the festival is on. Definitely check out Romanticide or Storytime next from the same show.

Bro...this IS one of the most epic songs, in one of the most epic concerts, of all time.
This is Iron Maiden, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Hammersmith in 1982-levels of epicness. (Hint: React to this Iron Maiden performance to get a comparison!)
But if you want to know the full extent of how huge this concert is, watch it through, beginning to end. Because most European fans, who knew Nightwish prior to Wacken 2013, had no idea who Floor Jansen was -- and were blown away with how good she really is!
Because of all the vocalists in the world today, to get to the top of the mountain, Floor guards the gate and doors, and holds the keys. Very few metal vocalists are at her level, let alone as good as she is. Among those in her company: Bruce Dickinson, Iron Maiden; Freddy Mercury, Queen; and Brittney Slayes, Unleash the Archers. A lesser-known vocalist is Eric Holloway, known as "ThatBassVoice," who has the biggest range -- low C3 to high A5 -- of any vocalist in the world. And they all are at the level of Floor Jansen.
For any band playing live this is the benchmark. Nightwish live is the benchmark. 🙏🙂👍❤️

The a in Wacken is pronounced as the a in Darth and not as the a in Vader or even as Wicken.
Just pick songs from one of the live concerts at Wacken, Wembley and Tampere to start with.
Floor Jansen also often sings on Ayreon albums and in the first live concert Ayreon Universe live.

Un coucou de l'armée NIGHTWISH de France, avec un peu ( beaucoup ) de retard, très très bien et excellente réaction à l'écoute du plus grand groupe du monde pour ma part. Mais vous n'avez qu'effleuré le dessus de l'iceberg et vous n'êtes qu'a l'entrée du terrier de lapin. Faites le Ever Dream qui commence comme une douce ballade voix piano et sur un signe de Marko ( le bassiste ) continue d'accélérer pour finir comme un train à grande vitesse, puis essayez une petite histoire comme storytimes ou alors du plus lourd avec Ghost River. ou encore plus lourd avec Romanticide..... got distracted and joined a series of bands. However, Floor still gathers souls by her grace, beauty and the sheer power
of her vocals.

I think it would be better to pause the video if you want to comment about it. Or at least adjust the audio docking must less rapid because current settings make it hard to understand you in the middle of music.

This is often the one song that gets you on the hook of Nightwish. Lot of fans like the "Storytime" better and go from there to "Romanticide". Floor is the "Warrior Valkyrie Goddess" in Nightwish community while Tarja the original singer is and always will be the "Queen of Metal". Depends of the song lot of the Tarja's era is better with Tarja even that Floor has taken some of the songs to the next level but as good as she is she will never be Tarja. Two very different vocals. Worth checking out both. Also Anette the third singer between that was before Floor was a very good singer in studio and the albums the band made with her are also a killer performances but has to be said she was not powerful enough on stage. Even so check a movie "Imaginaerum" (2012) where the music is from Nightwish album the same name and vocals from Anette. "Storytime" is one of the songs from this album and Floor performing it at "Wacken 2013" gives the live performance of this song justice. Check it out. Nightwish is one those bands that lot of their songs are very different from each other. You will always find something new.

In the beginning God created music.
He then created Nightwish.
He then stole Floor from Odin in Valhalla and gave her to the earth.
He then said: I'm done
Shame on you, UK is the country with the 4th most concerts by Nightwish. Next to the village of Wacken (with 2025 inhabitants) one of the largest and oldest metal festivals in the world takes place every year. Back then with over 80,000 visitors, today over 100,000. On August 2nd it's time again and there will be a live stream again. There are no more tickets, they were sold out after 5 hours last year. Blame Iron Maiden, they're one of the headliners.
The difference between a hard band and a soft, female voice is typical for symphonic metal. The genre tries to find a balance between the two. Choirs and orchestras are also typical.
They disappear in the middle because only the backtracks are still running.
Floor is officially only the temporary help here. There is no studio version with her of any of the songs. A few months later she becomes the third singer. The first studio album with her was only released in 2015.
Pirates are fine. The song was written in 2003, shortly after Pirates of the Caribbean. One of his role models is Hans Zimmer, who also made the film music for the film. In terms of content, mastermind Tuomas probably foresees the separation from the first singer.
For the love of any this you hold holy. If you have something to say, pause the damn song. The last thing we want to hear is you stepping on her singing.
U will come to find.... Metal is thee best genre. The deepest and most complex and dives into all emotions on the human spectrum. U will learn, young grasshopper. lol jk. But seriously. ;)
