I appreciate this is from a couple of years ago but thanks for posting, I had been going round in circles trying to configure my Yahoo account on Outlook 2021 I didn't know you had to configure a one-time password through Yahoo first via a web browser. When it said app password I assumed it was for the mobile phone app version. I'm old school and I still think of apps as being specifically for mobile phones and programmes for laptops and desktops 😊.
Anyway the main thing is, it worked so thanks again
