Greeting from Australia Lou. . I thoroughly enjoy your videos especially with Humberto. I just purchased a 1978 Lincoln Continental Diamond Jubilee Edition in gold that has the 460 engine. Travelled 31,000 original Miles. These are beautiful cars to drive.
My dad owned an auto body shop in East Dundee which neighbors Carpentersville and he and my mom always had a stable of Lincoln’s. I recall a brown 71 Mark III, a gold Mark IV and my personal favorite as a kid was the 1979 Mark V Bill Blass edition. What makes these cars great today is that they are a such a joy to drive because nothing on the road today feels quite like them and also they are extremely affordable to enjoy again. Another great video, Lou! Thanks.
Beautiful car. I loved the evolution of styling from the Mark III to the Mark IV to the Mark V. Each body style was gorgeous. Of course they were ridiculously long, after all they were basically a much longer cousin of the Ford Thunderbird. I always shook my head how these personal luxury coupes (Cadillac Eldorado included) had relatively little rear seat leg room considering their aircraft-carrier length 😁 The Marks (III to V) are still as beautiful today as they were 40-50 years ago. Thanks for sharing your car story Humberto and Lou!
Hello Lou and Umberto! Guess what? I just purchased the exact same car the other day! The example I purchased has only 53K original miles! I just LOVE it! Thanks for posting this great video, as all of your videos are!

I bought a 1972 cadillac new and a friend bought a 1973 Mark IV new. We would have constant rival discussions about which car was better. Most ended in a draw. And jokingly he would add at the end of the discussion that Cadillac makes "a good radio." One thing that wasn't a draw was the fact that more young women were attracted to the Mark IV than my Coupe DeVille "in the day," hands down, no contest. The Mark IV's timeless design still looks good today and if I had to do it over again I would have purchased the Mark IV absolutely. Good video.
Hi Gregory Trane, Thank you for sharing the rivalry discussion between Cadillac vs Lincoln and the tip on the "ladies choice" :-) Appreciate for the kind words on the video, Lou
I had a 72 Brougham I bought used in 78, I really liked it, but the mark IVs were definitely a sexier car, the badge on that ford said it needed 91 octane and had 26.5 gallon tank, the way those cars went through gas they needed that big tank. You guys must have been doing good to be able to afford those cars.
I agree on the Lincoln looks but Cadillacs were higher quality as far as reliability and they had the trunk auto pull-down and a few other features Which Lincoln didn’t have or it was Manuel control and not power like Cadillacs.
The designer Marks were such good looking cars. Nice find and thanks for showing us this fine example. I believe the 78 Givenchy edition was green exterior with green velour interior, would love it if you found one of them to record.

This is a very cool car. My grandmother had a '76 Mark IV, but not a designer one. Her's was in Cinnamon Gold Moondust color with similar leather interior. She drove that until she lost her license due to bad eyesight, but she still drove anyway. (She was headstrong). She eventually rear=ended a police car and that ended her days with her pride and joy, '76 Mark IV... These cars ride like a dream and easy to drive. Beautiful!
That Umberto has got one VERY CLASSY ride! Never heard of this edition. It’s one of the best looking “edition” type cars I’ve ever seen with all the extra classy touches. That color! Those intricate mouldings, the light wood trim that goes so perfectly with that blue! And the ‘76 Continental’s lines are so simply elegant to begin with. Lucky I wasn’t there when this video was recorded or Umberto would have had a bunch of drool to wipe off of that car. So Beautiful and classy! And Umberto seems like such a nice pleasant guy - friendly, warm, well spoken...I loved listening to him talk with that accent of his! Thanks Lou, for another great edition of your fabulous ongoing classic automobile documentary!
I love Humberto's cars. So classy. I had a '74 Cougar, which was very close to the Mark IV. Might have even shared chassis bits. Nothing like these big 2 door Fords.
This was such a beautiful car back in the bicentennial. It's eve my favorite color combination. Loved this car. Comfortable, definitely had power. A 460 probably.
I've loved these car's ever since I'd seen one on the TV show "Cannon"....ole' Frank Cannon had a mobile phone in his, that was so cool. Never was able to own one but they are just beautiful today as when they were first introduced. What a machine.

Just watched this video Umberto has such a great passion for Lincoln Marks, I think it's time I started looking for a 1973 and under.,these videos make me want to get another one. Thanks for the great videos. Bruce
My step grandpa who is now 96 and in remarkable good health, remembers his brother who is now deceased, had a medium to dark blue 1976 Lincoln Continental, he doesn't remember the version, owned it for about 12 years or so. Sold it a few years before his passing, grandpa remembers like it was yesterday riding down country roads back in the early 1990s, the ride was so smooth and comfortable, the seats were comfortable second to none, the car was so long you could literally watch the hood bounce up and down driving through the farmland, and the fact it was parked outside because it would not fit in his garage in the house he just brought, or he would have to leave the garage door open all the time. I was born in 1989, and step grandpa was telling me and my step brother who is 16 yrs younger than me, you haven't truly experienced luxury cars if you didn't grow up in the 1960s and 1970s.. back before all the emissions regulations, before they started going to v6 and inline 4s, before Mercedes Benz and the downsizing, Cadillac and Lincoln was the gold standard for luxury cars. These days it is about the biggest and greatest touch screens, heated and air conditioned seats, the best 0 - 60 times, you can go on and on. Now aside from the lack of available safety features, and the fact that these cars drank gas like a fish, these full sized Lincolns and Cadillac were comfortable like nothing todays generation had ever experienced

My Dad loved these. He made so much money on Ford products of this vintage. LOL! All he had to do to convince me to never buy a Ford was pull customer files of repairs for Lincoln, LTD and Mercury! LOL! They had style but broke down all the time. One of his customers vowed to cut the top, hood, and trunk off and make into a flower planter for his wife. To a nine year old kid, it left quite an impression.
The hydraulic power assist brakes that the car has robot from GM which development for their diesel powered cars because they had no vacuum. They were powered by the power steering pump.
I'v always been a GM guy but I had chance to buy a '79 Mark 5 I overheard a co-worker talking about this car for a $1000 dollars and he couldn't come up with the cash so I asked if he minded if I looked at it , I figured the disc brake 9inch rear end would go nice in my '70 Nova . well when I got to see the car it was a black on black leather 50 k cream puff that the old girl only drove in good weather as she spent the winter in FLA , no one had even sat in the back seat . I fell in LOVE with it and wish I never sold it .
I had a 75, same color, not a Givenchy, same color interior, w a blue roof, 4 wheel disc brakes, rode beautiful, went from gas station to gas station, A/C was a refrigerator, so quiet inside, Mercedes charges 120,000 for a S550, that rides almost like this car, my car had the same mouldings, in blue, my god, Disco music playing on the 8 track tape deck, great car
As always Lou, a fine stroll down memory lane! Hands down, other than a 79 Trans Am and maybe a 74-76 Starsky era Gran Torino, the 72-76 Mark IV was the ultimate disco cruiser that epitomized classiness in the 70s. Ricardo Montelban (did I spell that right?) would be jealous...Shaft and Superfly would be proud! 👍
Another great video Lou. Seems like your camera makes the blue color a bit greenish, but still looks good. Umerto's car is in mint condition. I've just noticed the thermometer is not 76 correct (must be from a Mark V) but seems to fit very well. Interestingly my 76 Givenchy has another plastic fuel filler door with "Unleaded fuel only" badge, while Umberto's has it printed below :)
Talk about memories, I am breaking out discos clothes . With that ghetto sled, me and buds would have had largetime. Keep it up gents, excellent gets. Semlpwr Fidelis

Beautiful Givenchy Mark IV! We also own a Givenchy Mark IV with the factory moonroof and velour and leather interior but no thermometer on the driver's mirror. I'm sure this car was repainted (as was ours) because of the Givenchy logo in the pinstripes which is just great...where in Michigan are you? We are north of Detroit..

Hi Garcia & Lou / This car 🚙 May have been built close to my train room / Wixom, Michigan / Cool ride and well maintained / 1976 plate was voted the best plate in the USA 🇺🇸Take care Gary 🚂
Aqua Blue Diamond Fire Metallic is the paint. The seating could be ordered in leather like this example or in velour ...the price for the Givenchy Edition was $1500 regardless of seating material. The $885 moonroof was not included with the Givenchy Edition. However, the polished aluminum wheels were standard with all Mark IVs in the Designer Series. The vinyl roof is padded to give that special look and feel. The opera windows on the Designer Series are unique with specific logos...be careful not to break them because they are costly to replace. Both the Givenchy and Pucci Editions are rarer than the more popular Bill Blass and Cartier Editions.
Oh Lou you have just had my ultimate ultimate favorite car! I had a few Lincolns in my life but never a Mark. They were just more money than I could afford in those days. This car is loaded with everything that year! Quadrasonic in the radio I had in my 1979 Town Car except mine was the first year if the digital tuning. Anyway quadrasonic is another name for 4 channel stereo. In the home too it was called 4 channel. I love this car and one of my dream collection cars. Givenchy was a beautiful car in that Edition a little Notch higher that a Cartier. I am jealous! Lol!
great video Lou, I am so impressed that i promise never to throw any more negative comments at you. Now im biased as a Ford man, but lets face it, from 1954 0n lincolns have always made cadillacs look sick......
Umberto didnt show u the tilt wheel, u push the turn signal lever towards the dashboard and u adjust the tilt wheel, that Quad 8 track was cool, very limited amount of tapes were available
We had a 1976. It was lipstick red with white trim. It floated down the road as it got 10 MPG. It Was fairly troublesome. Also had a 1979 Mark 5 Cartier. Liked it much better.

Umberto knows what he’s talking about, Lou doesn’t.... He’s just winging it...it’s funny he’s constantly being corrected, it’s rather funny. I love these big cars, so smooth and luxurious
Hi Bill Slutzky, You're right about Humberto and me. He's the Expert, and I'm learning all the time from the Care Takers. I'd suggest you do what my wife does. Turn the volume all the way down so she doesn't have to hear my mistakes, and still gets to see all the car :-) Stay well, Lou
I apologize if I was hard on you, I watched a few more of your clips and your style has grown on me...hehe. You do a fine job, and I really dig seeing these big old Lincoln’s. My grandma and grandpa got new ones every other year I remember and I actually had a 1981 Town car as my first car, it was named the Love Boat, it was a great safe and comfortable first car, that car took a beating and kept on ticking.......Have a good Holiday.

ZZ Top should slap themselves hard for not including this car in one of their videos. Its such a BEAUTIFUL Car with class just oozing from every orifice! While not a rod, it's still very cool. Put on a set of Crager mags though. I give it a Wow with quadrasonic Thumbs Up! The only other thing I'd change on this baby is to remove the noise dampener. Why? Well - since you asked (heh) .., If a car is too quiet, to me, it's not running. I love to feel that slight vibration of the engine through the steering wheel and hear it run even at a hum, otherwise (in my brain) it's not really running, but coasting and that drives me nuts. And yes - its a very short trip to Nutsville. :-)
Hi ImThe Daveman, This one might drive you nuts. It' s SO SMOOTH with no vibration and no feel of the road in the seats and little in the steering wheel. Lou

13:20 Our 2 ears can only sense the difference between sounds coming from the front and rear because our brains sense the interference pattern created by the sound making its way around the crevices in our outer ears; if you cut off someone's ears, they won't be able to tell if a sound is coming from the front or the rear and even wrestlers with "cauliflower ear" sometimes have compromised directional hearing due to an altered "head related transfer function". Quadraphonic headphones, with 2 speakers in each earcup, were widely available in the 1970s, but they have since become a very expensive niche product. Instead, simulated surround sound can be heard through normal stereo headphones using the sound processing features of applications from Dolby and other sound software vendors. Of course, if the processing algorithm doesn't match the HRTF of your ears, the effect will be less realistic.

Just LOVE the 1976 Continental MARK IV's . I own 4 of theses . I noticed the mirror temp gauge was not available in 1976 so the drivers side mirror is from a newer MARK V . Radiator cap is not original but try to find a original . oil cap should be black . But I LOVE THIS CAR and I want it
Cannot wait for 15th March, when the insurance allows me to get my Mark IV out cruising again. Well, with the weather we have now, I would not take it out anyway. No harm is done waiting.

Now aside from the lack of available safety features, and the fact that these cars drank gas like a fish, these full sized Lincolns and Cadillac were comfortable like nothing todays generation had ever experienced

My all time favorite car!
Winner !
work of art.
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
My Dad loved these. He made so much money on Ford products of this vintage. LOL! All he had to do to convince me to never buy a Ford was pull customer files of repairs for Lincoln, LTD and Mercury! LOL! They had style but broke down all the time. One of his customers vowed to cut the top, hood, and trunk off and make into a flower planter for his wife. To a nine year old kid, it left quite an impression.
Hi Chuck, Happy to read your Dad loved this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I had this same car in 1983.it was aGivenchy with valuer interior I pollished the wheels out to look like chrome....One beautiful car
Happy to read this car brings back memories of your car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
Beautiful and majestic!
Hi Kroeber38, Glad you enjoy this one :-) Lou
This was the first time that I had ever learned about Cartier, Bill Blass, Pucci and Givenchy!
Hi David, Happy to read you're learning something. I'm learning all the time from the Care Takers and I find that to be so much fun, Lou
Pucci is my colour. The only one of this series i never had seen in rl.
I could never hang out with Umberto. I'd wind up buying a Lincoln, lol. He's got the nicest ones I've ever seen.
He's a Great Guy :-)
These cars for a dream on the highway.
The hydraulic power assist brakes that the car has robot from GM which development for their diesel powered cars because they had no vacuum. They were powered by the power steering pump.
Glad you enjoy this "highway dream" car :-)
Beautiful is an understatement.
High praise for the looks of this car :-)
So quiet you would bounce the bendix off the starter thinking it wasn't running. Great luxoliners.
Hi J T, Thank you for viewing and sharing. Lou
Gorgeous .
Hi Shawn Fox Firth, Glad you enjoy the looks of this one :-) Lou
I'v always been a GM guy but I had chance to buy a '79 Mark 5 I overheard a co-worker talking about this car for a $1000 dollars and he couldn't come up with the cash so I asked if he minded if I looked at it , I figured the disc brake 9inch rear end would go nice in my '70 Nova . well when I got to see the car it was a black on black leather 50 k cream puff that the old girl only drove in good weather as she spent the winter in FLA , no one had even sat in the back seat . I fell in LOVE with it and wish I never sold it .
Sounds like a wonderful car :-) Thank you for sharing.
For sure a beautiful car. Thanks Lou.
Hi Newton Washington, Glad you enjoy this "beauty" :-) You're welcome, Lou
Thank you Mr Lou for sharing your passion.
You're welcome atlcorvette. My pleasure.
Hi Pontiac GrandPrix73, Thank you sharing your story and sounds like wonderful memories :-) Lou
So it must have been the 75 "Blue Diamond Luxury Group". Designer editions came first in 76.
nice those bicentennial plates in good nick would be becoming collector items themselves.
You're right :-)
Beautiful car there clean sharp nice color and that grill looks like it came off a Rolls Royce it's lovely
Hi Pete Medina, Glad you enjoy this car and consider the car "Beautiful" :-) Lou
Right on :-)
Really beautiful car!
Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
HI MM, Thank you for the kind words on the video :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your 1st hand knowledge about this car too, Lou
Talk about memories, I am breaking out discos clothes . With that ghetto sled, me and buds would have had largetime. Keep it up gents, excellent gets.

If I remember correctly, Lincoln had anti lock brakes a few years before '76. I remember commercials for the Mark III having anti locks.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
That is one beautiful automobile.
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
~2:05 an absolutely beautiful perfect start!
:-)
Hi there l love it
I have a Emilio Pucci that l imported from Mass to Australia 🇦🇺
It was very good watching this I was wondering why the side window would not roll back until I watch this they never were meant to retract
Thumbs up for the GIVENCHY 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺

Hi Gary, That would be nice if this car was built close to home, and thank you for sharing your knowledge on the 1976 plate :-) Lou
You had me at the turquoise leather seats!!
Nice :-) and comfy too.
The Givenchy editions with crushed velour upholstery were also stunning, but I doubt any of those survived. That fabric was delicate.
Hi colibri1, Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you enjoy. Lou
ive seen alot of thos lincoln, but its the first time i ever saw that metal flake paint...didint even knew it existed. thats a homerun lou
Glad you enjoy this one :-)
Awesome Lincoln! Love the silencer on the air cleaner! Great video! 😍
Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing.
3:47 Thank God, in my 77 Mercury Marquis I can hear clearly the sound of 460 :) However mine is definitely not a luxury car.
No "noise dampener" on your 460 :-)
Aqua Blue Diamond Fire Metallic is the paint.
Hi SpockvsMcCoy, I appreciate you adding your comment / knowledge to the Channel. Thank you, Lou
Lol!
Hi Steve Flad, HIGH PRAISE for this car :-) Glad you enjoy this one, Lou
This is a super car!!! Thank You for this video!!!

great video Lou, I am so impressed that i promise never to throw any more negative comments at you. Now im biased as a Ford man, but lets face it, from 1954 0n lincolns have always made cadillacs look sick......
Hi dicarlo57, I'm glad we'll both have fun on the Channel :-) Glad you enjoy this Lincoln :-) Lou
Umberto didnt show u the tilt wheel, u push the turn signal lever towards the dashboard and u adjust the tilt wheel, that Quad 8 track was cool, very limited amount of tapes were available
Thank you for sharing the tip on the tilt.
Lou, running to the back of the car to get the REV on the Exhaust. :))
I do enjoy sharing the sounds each one makes when available :-)
We had a 1976. It was lipstick red with white trim. It floated down the road as it got 10 MPG. It
Was fairly troublesome. Also had a 1979 Mark 5 Cartier. Liked it much better.
Red's a good color too.
Beautifull, great car!
Glad you enjoy this one Daimler V12 :-)
Lou Costabile We russians love TRUE american cars, lt is a pity that they are less and less on the roads. Thank you for the videos, Lou!
Glad you're along for the ride :-)

What a nice massive barge!
All aboard :-)
Steve Zissou, Bill Murray's character in the film, would surely have had a Lincoln just like this.
Nice :-)
Beautiful GIVENCHY MARK IV!! Mine has the velour interior and moonroof, built in April 1976. Where in MI are you?

Hey Lou nice one
You know, Suretrac was only rear drums only
Think Chrysler had 4 wheel ABS first
Hey It's Ders Mane, Glad you enjoy this one :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge regarding the brakes, Lou
I believe that 76 Mark IV has all 4 disc brakes. At least mine does.
emission era luxury barge =D the cougar and t bird of the same years were pretty swell too!
Hi Ragimund VonWallat, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Lou
Fantastic car ! 😍
Hi Michal Skiba, Glad you enjoy this one :-) Lou

If you’ve never drove one of these you have no idea what you’re missing. Wasn’t built to take curves but if you want quiet smooth luxury with a ride that is comparable to none then drive one and you’ll fall in love

🔝🏁🎬📹🚘 Merci mon Lou 🚘📹🎬🏁🔝
Thank you LIBERTY MAN, and you're welcome, Lou
Of course, if the processing algorithm doesn't match the HRTF of your ears, the effect will be less realistic.

hi i like to know is that mirror on the drivers side with the temperature an option on the mark iv let me know please ,, mike thanks
Hi Mike, I'm not sure as I would have that it came standard with this car, however hoping a Viewer with knowledge can share. Lou
Just LOVE the 1976 Continental MARK IV's . I own 4 of theses . I noticed the mirror temp gauge was not available in 1976 so the drivers side mirror is from a newer MARK V . Radiator cap is not original but try to find a original . oil cap should be black . But I LOVE THIS CAR and I want it
Hi Joe McCarthy, Glad to read this is one you love :-) Clearly an Owner of four your a Fan of the Brand, Lou
Jhee-vawn-sheee... Say it with me.
Superior car, though... Absolutely beautiful!
High praise :-)

Cannot wait for 15th March, when the insurance allows me to get my Mark IV out cruising again.
